This is my overall experience with the game up to this point. I'm going to continue into Living World and the Expansions. What do you guys think? Anything that I missed seeing in the game that you recommend?
Hmm, alright. I do have a Sylvari on the side that I've been slowly leveling but they're only in the early 20's right now so maybe I haven't gotten to Trahearne yet. As a player who's beaten the OG campaign on this single character, this is my overall experience thus far. I'll definitely have to continue the Sylvari personal quests for sure! Thanks for the info!
Perfect time to be done with the base story content, as LW season 1 is finally fully complete for all players! As a FFXIV vet, I am looking forward to your thoughts on the season 1 additions such as the battle for lions arch strike mission and such! I’ve been playing GW2 for years, and I love hearing the thoughts of people from other mmos on what they think of GW2. Happy to have you in Tyria!
Oh yes! I definitely saw that Season 1 is full again. Definitely a good time I picked to get into the game xDDD Oh there's a lot of differences between FFXIV and GW2 as you know. Different activities and mechanics tend to lead to having a fun time so I'm looking forward to it ^^ Thanks you! ^^
I'm hoping it's better in the future lol At the very least, I know the workaround now so the only tedious part is having to take time to do it. Regardless, I really enjoy the game too much to stop ^^
So glad you seemed to enjoy the 1-80 experience. It is definetly MUCH lower in quality than the more recent game. If you enjoyed the core game I am sure you will love when you get to the expansions especially End of Dragons!
So I’ve heard lol Definitely looking forward to seeing what the game has in store for the future ^^ Plan is to go in order of content releases. Now that Living World Season 1 is back in, it’s very doable to my knowledge lol
Trahearne isn't as random as he seems, since his birth he has fought and studied Orr and the dragons(It's his literal destiny and the reason he was born, sylvari stuff.). He is the person most knowledgeable about the subject and has a long history with all three orders that he has acquired during his journey.
That was mostly me talking about how him being a military general with no military experience was different. I wasn’t questioning his knowledge on the subject of Orr, just they could’ve had him in an advisory role to get the same conclusion
@@MegaMadVladMMO By subject, I also meant he studied military tactics and history in order to fight back the dragons. He also got a lot of combat experience as one of the few people who have been to Orr and survived before the pact formed, he's one of only 2 who has seen Zhaitan and lived up to that point.
Did he? I must’ve missed that tidbit or not seen it in my playthrough then. Well I guess I was wrong then lol This is my first experience with the story so I’m not gonna say I’m a master of the lore here
@@MegaMadVladMMO A lot of the lore is explained outside the story, for example, there are several books. If interested I'd recommend watching some lore videos explaining some of the lore(there are spoiler-free ones). An interesting fact about Sylvari is that during main story, the oldest member of the race is around 20 as their race is relatively new. They are born full-grown and have a sort of shared memory known as the dream. If you play as one, you are quite literally a newborn, and a Sylvari's destiny, the wild hunt, is quite special.
Videos are definitely more up my alley than books lol I did start a Sylvari, got them into the early level 20’s, so I did see the full grown birth part. Definitely didn’t know they were maybe 20 years old new lol
For the errors, during the story missions, this won't fix them all, but might help alleviate things: Options -> streaming (near the end of the first tab) -> content streaming to max I used to get those errors all the time, it's not as bad with this, but it's no magic bullet either unfortunately.
The technical issues have to do with your ISP and router configurations. There ware some specific configurations that ISPs used for their infrastructure that cause a miniscule packet loss that will causes story instances to disconnect. The problem is that the bug is pretty rare but if you are unlucky and have it is happens pretty consistently so it is tough to fix or analyze. There are a number if things you can try to avoid this but it is a bit of a dice roll. the best thing one could do follow the instructions by Arenanet on that and if this does not work contact support directly and give them logs.
i have been playing GW2 for about 5/6 months now and am completely addicted. I played free until around level 40 or 50, at that time i decided i liked it enough to buy and bought all chapters,, you wont regret it. i have not even thought about doing wvw or endgame yet, i have been having so much fun levelling and doing masteries and getting all my mounts except turtle and all the holiday events are way better than any other mmo. ya never get bored,
Hopefully the WvW restucturing is complete before you decide to jump in. It can be pretty polarising at the moment if you jump in solo during a slow time for your server / team...
Glad you enjoyed it for the most part, interesting to see how it holds up for new players now vs years ago. I'm sure you'll like the rest of the story at least as much! It gets even better from now with the small exception of the end of IBS
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what's next in this game for sure. Thankfully with Living World Season 1 being put back in, I believe I can play through all intended content now lol
Great videos man, I can see this channel becoming pretty successful 👍 from here on out the difficulty increases quite a bit from the base game, but a lot more fun, especially when you get to HoT
If you want more challenge, the following stories and maps will give you the challenge, for the real thing tho, try to avoid very full maps so you dont have the numerical advantage. You will see expansion maps are much more populated, usually
I’m definitely looking forward to continuing for sure! It’s one of the great things about starting an MMO late, I have access to a ton of content. Glad to know that Living World Season 1 is all back now too!
Possible fix to your disconnecting problem. Go to Options and change Content Streaming to "Max". It has worked for 4 of my guild members so far. I'm not exactly sure why but from my understanding, it's more an ISP issue, then a game issue. During cutscenes, it's not using any "internet" per se, and so your ISP will disconnect you from the server after timing out. Again, I'm not 100% sure this is the exact reason, but the solution has worked for most people I've talked to. Good luck. Glad you're enjoying the game so far.
Trehearne is a pretty important character for slyvari and as for his combat ability, he is a very strong necromancer. Terhearne isn't really a military person but has lot of knowledge and wisdom when it comes to ore, which is a huge help towards there armies strategic development. When you play living story 2, many things will come to light and much more is revealed in 2nd expansion.
This is a fair assessment of the game as I see it with the thousands of hours of bias at the back of my mind. Thanks for that. Although, I, myself, have never encountered such glitches in my ten years of playing. I'm pretty sure it's the result of more than just the game itself being buggy, which it is to some extent. The perks of being a rather huge game. Also, if you enjoyed the story so far, you are in for a ride. Both the storytelling and the gameplay mechanics have been on an upward trajectory in terms of quality with every release, post-launch. Not sure how far along you got during the past two months but I'm interested to see how you view the game after the Personal Story ended with Zhaitan's defeat. Happy gaming.
I'm working on the next part right now lol The first bit of post level 80 content! If you want to see it, it should be out this week ^^ And thank you! ^^
Great Content Man! Guild Wars 2 Has a lot of cool problem-solvers that other games seem to lack BIG time (f.e. material storage). This game is literally an ocean of brilliant solutions and i hope You will stick around in this fine world to see more of them! See You in Tyria! Btw, problem with cutscenes seems bad but in my over 2k hours experience i only recall 2 times when i had it and game crashed, maybe it's error with hardware or something of this sort in Your case?
lol Thank you! ^^ Yes! the material storage is a god send! Such a fantastic idea to help your bags not be so cluttered with, at that moment, items only useful when crafting stuff. Definitely sticking around to see how this game goes further on lol When I get back into the game in a couple weeks, that'll be the perfect time to see if I'm still having issues with the cutscenes and whatnot. Outside of that, I've read a few possible fixes in the comments here as well that I can try if need be. Hopefully I won't need to lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO If u ever need something in game send a mail to "Zoe Draenor"! :) See ya around, and keep it up with content, You will blow up soon if u do that! :D
@MegaMadVlad Try the map metas once you get into the new areas! They relate to the story content, have tons of little hidden story dialogue and bits, and are wild to play when its you plus 50-150 other people fighting for the same goal. Silverwastes I think is your first big one coming soon. After that the Heart of Thorns maps are renown for huge events taking place all over the map at the same time. As a player since the beginning, I'm still finding nuggets of lore, crazy sub events and easter eggs in content from even the beginning of the game. Your player creation choices still are relevant and affect dialogue and some story elements in later content. The replay value is awesome (and don't be afraid of using the Looking for Group tool/Y, to find where events are!) GW2 has much of itself tucked away on maps and not just story/quest instances
That's definitely great to hear that the character creation choices are still relevant in the future of the game! I wasn't too sure how that was going to go what with the ending of the OG plot being more funneled to the same arc ending. Map metas I haven't heard about before. Are they like treasure maps or something? The group events that I have done have been fun. It really gives that MMO feel to the game when it's more than just you and a handful of others in the same area lol I did an event recently where 3 Asura go to different locations, you follow any one of the 3 and help them get to their destination. Then everyone I was with fought this giant worm thing that we had to time up with the other 2 groups. Was definitely interesting and the contexts of watching what the other players were doing helped to easily understand how to help out with it. It was fun and VERY rewarding at the end if all 3 bosses were killed at the same time lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Meta maps is regarding map wide events which are generally time scheduled . The Silverwastes one mentioned is known as RIBA, not time scheduled, and is a decent gold farm early on. Getting a map that is progressing the meta though is not always the easiest depending on the map and time you are on... This can be a bit problematic given I believe there were a few story chapters which required you to do the Meta or at least have had the Meta succeed recently.
@@MegaMadVladMMO I came here to say something similar to Tauzu, especially regarding your comment in the video about story pacing (like your character becoming a commander seemingly all of a sudden). I think there's a big disadvantage to newer players regarding this. Things are moving so much faster for you due to a combination of things, such as the game being much easier, xp being faster to gain, and the allure of the expansions that new players tend to have. Not to say you're guilty of that last part, but it's something I've seen happen often, which made them rush through everything. Back then, because things moved slower, we actually were more encouraged to truly experience everything a zone could give. Side quests, random events, hidden areas and objects... all these provide extra bits of lore that is so easy to miss if you're just zipping through. By the point you hit the part of being a commander, you've helped so many communities, lead or were part of various incursions across maps, have become an integral part of a faction, and have fought alongside some of the biggest names in Tyria. So being a commander didn't feel as sudden back then as it feels now. I know that this is what typically happens to games like these, once they've been around for many years, but I do wish Anet did something about this differently so that new players are more encouraged to experience the game at a more even pace.
6:30, I think the lack of colors is to distinguish "old" versions of the map and what is current. I've also been playing through the personal story again ever since it was released on Steam (the last time I did was basically around launch) and noticed that old Lion's Arch sections also had the lack of colors.
Well I'm quite optimistic about my experience so far! That, and quite a few people saying the game gets even better once you get into the expansions. Living World is also something I've been interested in seeing. From what I've read online, it was meant to be expansion level content without the expansion tag? Sounded interesting. Looking forward to seeing who this Scarlet character is
One thing that seems to help prevent getting kicked in cutscenes and dialog-heavy story instances is to press the space bar (jump) and/or hit one of your skills constantly. My wife and I have had the disconnect issues as well, and pressing something to "keep the connection alive" seems to really help prevent getting kicked.
That was one of the solutions I read online as well, it unfortunately didn't work for me lol I kind of suspect that it's due to the missing assets in the cutscene that caused the issue rather than lack of movement. Thank you though!
It's interesting to see, as I have never in my years of enjoying this game had that technical error, but I also played it before it existed on steam, so I have the launcher itself...
@@tazernd881 I'm also using the ANet launcher. My wife and I came back to the game around the beginning of October after a 6 or 7 year break and we've had this problem across many of the story instances. I've tried all of the solutions that people have suggested over the years and the one that helped us most was to jump or use a skill constantly while there was a cutscene or long bits of dialog.
For better or worse, future story content outside personal story doesn't use cutscenes or side-to-side character scenes as the narrative becomes more linear and less choice-flavoured. You'll be (mostly) free to explore (or roleplay) around the setting while characters talk and act. I'd guess that also means technical issues won't be such a hindrance nearly as often. Like others recommended, you can pick a Sylvari to learn a bit more about that one microwaved salad and also Order of Whispers for a slightly different spin of the roughly same story (it's a bit more popular than Vigil/Priory, narrative-wise). I think in older video someone might've recommended dungeon story modes where you also learn about some of the Destiny's Edge characters or non-playable factions like Dredge/Nightmare Court, though you might want a willing veteran (guild) player to help you out because the content isn't always balanced for 1 person progression and some fight mechanics/puzzles are unforgiving. Knowing how these parallel stories unfold is also relevant to understand their position and motivations in future story content as well. You also find contextual lore in the maps, and some maps got altered by story events you couldn't have connected yet. Don't be afraid to ask people ingame to help and ask as often as possible. There are plenty of people willing to help but they just aren't spread around in every map or every hour of day. The game is a lot more community driven than you'd expect and a lot of the unintuitive know-how is passed through the wiki, fan sites and guilds teaching new players.
Hi and welcome to GW2. You finally ended the main story so now you're for the good stuff :) By the way, if you need any help or info just ask in map chat with /m. Especilly in cities, you will find people more than willing to help. GW2 community is absurdly welcoming XD. However let me just say that it's bit a scuffed review...you clearly didn't read or listeened everything otherwise you won't have that idea about Trahearne. He's been known for years by the 3 orders and everyone trust him as a person and scholar (even if initially they're a bit skeptical about his leadership skills) and he's not aligned with anyone. He's basically the only possible choice for the Pact leader.
Oh I didn't know about the /m tidbit! Thank you! ^^ Also, this isn't so much a review as it's more of my viewpoint and journey into the world of GW2 lol
It is regrettable to hear about your experiences with the technical issues, in contrast, I only got the game after the Steam release, I have played the base game, all of HOT and most of POF and didn't have any issues myself. Besides changing some key binds, my initial setup is still the default, didn't do anything special. I really hope you manage to fix those issues, the game only gets better imo. I am planning to continue enjoying it for quiet some time to come. My hope is that you do too.
It's definitely been a uniquely fun experience for sure. I do enjoy playing the game and seeing how the story goes from here. Hearing from quite a few people that it gets better after the base game is also great to hear lol You got yours after the Steam release? Is it the Steam version or Arena Net's version?
Interesting take on Trahearne as pact leader. I've always considered him to be the obvious choice. But I did my first playthrough on a sylvari and got to see him dealing with the risen way before the pact was even a thought.
Yeah, at the time I played the base game, I knew next to nothing about Trahearne and then he just up and became the Pact Leader. It just goes to show the difference of experience people get depending on their race and choices at the beginning of the game.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Oh yes, it really varies. The other day I had a discussion in another comment section with someone who complained they couldn't find gw2's main story. It turned out they did, but they didn't recognize the human story line as part of that. It made me realize, not for the first time, that Sylvari are the ones most connected to the main plot all the way up to the end of HoT. I feel like after that it's more taylored towards humans. Although I haven't played season 5 yet, which I expect to be more norn focused. I also find it fascinating that all the other races just kind of stumble into the fight against Zaithan, while the Sylvari plot line manages to be a chosen one story, without actually treating you as the chosen one, which feels really awesome.
There's a reaaaallyyyy long thread on the official GW2 forum about this bug and there are some possible fixes mentioned there. Try changing in-game "content streaming" setting to Max. Also if you're playing on a laptop change battery saving mode to high performance. You can also try locking fps to 60, changing game display from fullscreen to windowed fullscreen (or vice versa), switching game port to 80, 443 or6112 (idk how to do it on steam and which one is the default one) Also it's worth mentioning that later content has checkpoints during instances so you won't lose all of your progress during longer missions. Keep playing because the story gets only better :D
Gonna screenshot this for future possible fixes lol Yeah, I heard after I posted this video that there's checkpoints in future content. Great to hear for sure, but the real test will be on the other characters still in the base game lol
Trahearne's position can be explained somewhat easily, if you think of him as an impartial and wise arbiter, he is a well-read individual and has studied the elder dragons to a higher degree than anyone else, plus he is known by all 3 of the groups favourably and are willing to agree with his choices, vigil are the soldiers, whisper is the spy's/assassins and priory are the researcher's, trahearne's job is more of a decision maker to decide on which decision the pact follow's, such as the vigil's warmaster's aggressive military strategy, the spymaster's subtle espionage strategy or the researcher's brilliant idea, furthermore as the pact commander (the player) we are the second in command under trahearne and are a skilled warrior + soldier on the frontline so when it comes to the best person to ask, we are that person for trahearne to confer with and come to an impartial decision using his wisdom and our eye's seeing the event unfold first-hand :)
Story chapters have seen technical improvements over the year and save your progress from checkpoints so you no longer have to redo the entire chapter. I myself have been playing GW2 for 7 years now and TBH I haven't encountered that missing assets bug before. As for the crashes, if something like that happens they usually fix it rather quickly.
That's definitely great to hear! Even if I still come across the bug in the future, I'm confident I can get past it now since I know at least 1 workaround for it. Regardless, having checkpoints in future story stuffs is definitely a great thing to hear
@@nebulastar9050 While I've read online that I'm not the only person that's encountered this issue, I'm also seeing that it might be a small portion of the playerbase that has been affected by this. Definitely weird
Didn't realize the Steam release had missing asset problems, but then again this is the first time Guild Wars 2 a 10 year old game has been released on steam so it makes sense that its gonna take them a time to iron out the kinks for something they are new to.
I don’t think it’s that it’s missing assets as a whole. Moreso that sometimes downloads don’t work properly and mine just happened to be missing assets. I’ve seen others in the comments here saying they have the Steam version and not that issue. Regardless, there’s something wrong somewhere lol
Keep looking for a "repair files" option for Steam, because I know there is one, but it's obscure. I ran into it pretty early on when I started a second account on Steam, too. I don't remember what I did to fix it, but I do remember it took me most of an afternoon to figure it out. :(
8:56 100% This kind of stuff is incredibly annoying. I can think of numerous times this has happened with 3 standing out. They really need to introduce a checkpoint or saving system for it. Think that's the main contribution story content has always left a bad taste in my mouth, because when it goes wrong it's always right at the end of the instance. Funny video, good stuff
lol your face at 6:55... baby maaaaaan BABY MAAAAAN!. As a charr main, I stood there like "Just another tuesday." PS. The entire base game was designed to be traversable without a mount. We didn't have mounts until the 2nd expansion. You may also like Season 1... the antagonist is the same voice actor who does Harley Quin in the cartoons.
Yeah I saw that about the mounts lol base game and 1 expansion without a mount for traversal, but when they bring it in, it has gameplay added to it. Definitely interesting stuffs
I'm not going to lie, Forgal Kernsson is probably the least painful of the faction choices to watch sacrifice themselves. I viewed him as an adoptive fatherly figure who had already lost his wife and child. Having played a Norn, and knowing his history, it was pretty obvious he was looking for a chance to die gloriously. And gloriously did he die. If you ever get the chance, play through Whispers. There is a reason why half the player base of Gw2 cries when you say "Apples."
@@MegaMadVladMMO One of the three factions in the game. People usually call Order of Whisper's "Whispers" for short. Same with Durmand Priory as just "Priory". Vigil is known as Vigil, but that's because their name is already only one word to begin with. Lmao
I've played the game for 9yrs or so but I haven't done too much pve. I did do the personal story when I first got the game or not long after but I zoned out(not because it was bad, it would have to be Warhammer lore type stuff for me to get into it personally)but what for me makes the game great is the combat. It's always had a problem here or there with balancing but it's tough with a game with so many customizable mechanics. I mainly just wvw and spvp every other season or so. It's still probably imo the best MMOs with pvp combat. I've tried and retried so many other MMOs but they just aren't as good or the game dies fast.
I recently installed the Steam release after a many year hiatus, but have not had any of the story cut scene issues that you have encountered. I have a lvl 63 Sylvari Hunter name Gwenillian. She rocks.
Oh nice name! ^^ Found a possible fix recently saying that it might be an uncapped frame rate issue. Something I'm going to try when I hop on the game next
Without too much Spoilers, Trahearne is like 28 years old at this point, and since his creation (born as an adult) he's been researching and experimenting on Orr and Zhaitan's magic. So he was the only one who knew what to expect and how they fight/think.
All Sylvari are born as adults right? It’s definitely an interesting idea for a new race for sure. Being born and immediately being able to work toward their Wild Hunt.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yeah don't look them up at all though. You can easily spoil yourself. I am just like you, and had a really hard time not spoiling myself up because I was interested in the Lore. so I mean it when I say it, don't look up anything at least until you finish LW1,2, and HoT.
Trahearne there is a bit more going on with trahearne where it does kind of make sense why this academic becomes the general of the pact if you ever play as a sylvari character you get to know him alot better.
@@MegaMadVladMMO this is the difference in the dye system in gw2! you can dye your armor for FREE and ANYWHERE, don’t need to go to a NPC os station, and don’t need to spend gold or any currency, just go to the dye section in your “hero panel” (H) and be colorful
Not sure if you know but veryfying integrity of the game file is how you repair games on Steam. Right click game, properties, local files, verify integrity of game files...
That's what I clicked on but then Steam just went and uninstalled + reinstalled each time. Don't know if it basically means that Steam saw too many errors or something.
i think the problem with assets and missing dialogue prob is a steam specific... i recently replayed on a new character and didn't had any issues on the old launcher.
Maybe. It’s weird because it still opens the launcher first thing. Hopefully it’s something that’ll be fixed or a freak accident thing the 3 times I reinstalled it. Fingers crossed lol
I play with the "old" (standard) launcher since I started GW2 in 2014 ... it works without any problems for years ... but since a few weeks the game crashes from time to time and tells me "there`s a huge issue, send notofication to ArenaNet" or the game looses the connection to the game server ... I`ve reinstalled the launcher several time but it doesn`t help .... I never changed my general Windows system settings
It’s definitely an issue I’ve had for sure. Tried a lot of different fixes for it and it’s significantly slowed down lately. It still happens from time to time but maybe once while recording the next part or something. The fix that seems to have worked the best was capping the framerate to 60fps
You said that the error happens due to a cutscene missing FILES. The solution of fixing with a reinstall should only have to be done once. The fact you have had to do it repeatedly means your computer is repeatedly losing FILES. Try installing the game on a different drive. It's not necessarily a problem with the game innately, but possibly a failing drive. If it's an SSD then sectors randomly failing and repeatedly causing mystery bugs in a game would fit as a possible explanation.
I'm a bit surprised that you persisted through that cutscene bug. I might not have it this was my entry experience. It's a very old bug with unknown causes sadly. Your client just looses connection to the server at some point during the cutscene. That's also what causes missing models and voices, not the other way around. The client just doesn't get the command to spawn a model or play a voice line from the server. Sadly I also don't know of a fix for this. It's either some very edge case bug with your account, or a very edge case with something how your internet connection is setup, and that might be anywhere in the chain between you and the servers, so unlikely you can influence it. I would try contacting support about this. It's a rare bug, but the people that do have it get it constantly, and although the number of hands off cutscenes in lower in future content they still happen and it would really, really suck to keep getting this bug.
I've been given quite a few possible solutions in the comments section here to try out. Gonna keep playing it after the current reinstallation and if it happens again try those out. Hopefully something fixes it soon. The alternative is hoping that my expansion purchases transfer to the Arenanet client for free lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO So, the client is the same, but depending on where you bought it you have to login differently. You'll have to login through steam because you bought it there, but you can use command line arguments like -repair no problem. Not sure if that will fix it though. There's a popular GW UA-camr called Wooden Potatoes that had the cutscene bug for years, but he doesn't anymore. I don't know if he did anything or if it just magicked itself away for him eventually...
I play since Years (Over 6years) I had never disconnections in Cut-Scenes ...NEVER...then it has been a Problem with the Steam Accounts... I use since the beginning the Original Game Client where every time it got fixes. I would NO one let play it or install it over a foreign Client when it is NOT the Original Game Client itself. So i bet it is that such Malfunctions comes from the Steam Clients. That would me my only explanation.
You can change how the game starts to always check its validity with a dash option. Never had the problem you had in the eleven years I played the game.
When you would play the dlc heart of thrones you would get where the sylvarie are originated from, so there you might get another lead why trahearne is, how he is. :)
The bug kick thing never happened to me, shame that it happened to you :/ i can only imagine the frustration maybe its a steam related bug? I know someone talked about a bug after the steam release where the char capital was replecated x) it was fixed tho As for the trehern being the leader of the pact, he did lead it because the pact was formed to fight zhaitan, and who knows about zhaitan more than trehern? The dude spent his whole life studying zhaitan and traveling in and out of orr, he is affeliated and respected by the three orders for his efforts, he isnt a military leader yes, and thats where the three orders lead by the commander (you) take the mantle on the ground It made sense to me that a pure military leader isnt enough to fight an elder dragon, fighting an unstopable force of nature like the elder dragons who are as ancient as the world of tyria requires a knowledgable leader more than a militant one.
When I kept getting that error that kicked me, I looked it up to see if there was a fix. I did see that people were having it years ago as well. It's also possible the devs fixed it but the Steam version brought the bug back as well. That's an interesting interpretation of the events with Trahearne. He's definitely a character I want to know more about and I've heard he's involved with the Sylvari personal questline so time to level mine up to see that lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO well have fun with salad race! Male sylvari voice acting is top notch! @@someone_7233 lol Thank you for the recommendation! My Sylvari is currently in the 20's so it'll be a little bit of time but I'm looking forward to it ^^
It's a good possibility. Even though both versions are the same game, it's possible they're still different in some functionality considering they start from different locations.
I’m also disappointed with Anet and their approach to the original story. As far as I know these bugs and missing voice lines have been in the game for a while. I sort of feel like they left the original story on its own. I love the game but it creates a hurdle for new players. I guess this is not an easy fix and the Team is not as big as other mmos. Anyway I say this only because I really want this game to become more popular, it’s such a old but yet refreshing concept to throw you in the world and lean into exploration.
The game is a lot of fun but the disconnecting was tough for sure. It's fixable but unfortunately required me to do stuff on my end to fix it. Still recommend it though!
It still bothers me that players are forced to use a "core" build (talent points) from 1-80. Once you unlock your elite specializations (new fancy talent points) you'll never ever play core again. No one plays core. It would be so helpful to learn your actual spec from 1-80.
Core game: Bugs Bugs Bugs, S2 more bugs, HoT everything oneshots you, S3 druidstones, PoF All mobs slow you down, S4 Now they also stun you, IBS You get in touch with the elitist community, EoD you made it! you can finally enjoy heaven
Yeah... No The campaign is garbage after Path of Fire. Not saying it was ever good, this game boasts probably the worst RPG story I've ever seen, it only gets worse. For a spoilers : You start the game as one of the 5 races : Humans, Charr, Bigger humans, Cabbages or Mice. You choose some flavor bits for your personal story that have absolutely 0 impact in your character after the first campaign. You are then forced to join one of the 3 stereotypical "guilds" : Brawn over brains fighters, Edgy good for nothing thieves, and nerds. Now recruit one of the 3 cavemen species to aid you in fighting a giant undead dragon, congratz, you did it! You are now subleader of the 3 guilds, whos the leader you ask? The embodiment of all cabbage nature loving, live having, goodest of good guys, a *corpse fiddler*. And if you played any RPG before, you know why this concept is probably the stupidest, most arsenine setup ever. Living World Season 1 is pretty good. Living World Season 2 is ok Heart of Thorns is pretty good, even though maps are the most painful thing to navigate ever. It's so bad Arena Net made sure to never repeat their overly complicated design ever. Living World Season 3 is meh, events are good, maps are so-so and the story really started going downhill Path of Fire is bad, full of stupid characters doing stupid things for stupid reasons. For instance, over the course of the story, you will learn that the goddess of wisdom or something decides to imprison the GOD OF WAR because the other gods don't want to fight the dragons terrorizing their subjects. The god of war escapes through the most deus ex machina asspull ever : A charr carrying the ONLY sword ever blessed by this god, finds his prison because he fell into a ghost hole or something, then the charr cuts his chains in exchange for boosting his sword back to full power. I'll be brief on PoF, you track down the god of war before he kills THE dragon (not the other one without any screen time or the little shit you are forced to carry throught HoT and LW3). He kills you but not really and you come back to kill him but the big bad dragon eats his magic and becomes uber powerful and starts eating the gods domain. I'd elaborate further for living world 4 onwards, but I rather not. It's shit. You essentially play GW2 for the gameplay, not the story.
Poor you, discovering the game with the most meme class with Thief. Actually PVE is trash playing those 2 professions. Necro, Revenant, Ranger, Mecha, Mesmer... are wayyyy better IMO and for most of thd people
This is my overall experience with the game up to this point. I'm going to continue into Living World and the Expansions.
What do you guys think? Anything that I missed seeing in the game that you recommend?
Now review the endgame outside of the story. 🤔I mean if you can find it anyway, legend has it you can find it if you squint hard enough.

Go straight into Living World 1, 2, and then HoT. You won't regret it. It absolutely broke my mind. One of the best experiences I've had in a game.
Trahearne's position at the head of the pack makes a bit more sense if you play through some of the Sylvari personal stories.

I thought that was the case since the quests had to merge at some point for the 3 different orders lol

Definitely a good time I picked to get into the game xDDD
Oh there's a lot of differences between FFXIV and GW2 as you know. Different activities and mechanics tend to lead to having a fun time so I'm looking forward to it ^^
Thanks you! ^^

I feel bad for you QQ Thank you for your patience Orz
I'm hoping it's better in the future lol At the very least, I know the workaround now so the only tedious part is having to take time to do it. Regardless, I really enjoy the game too much to stop ^^
So glad you seemed to enjoy the 1-80 experience. It is definetly MUCH lower in quality than the more recent game. If you enjoyed the core game I am sure you will love when you get to the expansions especially End of Dragons!
So I’ve heard lol Definitely looking forward to seeing what the game has in store for the future ^^
Plan is to go in order of content releases. Now that Living World Season 1 is back in, it’s very doable to my knowledge lol
Yes, play it in order. And if you make it to the HoT expansion, try playing it with the Sylvary class for something special :)
I’m planning on getting this Human Warrior through and my alt Sylvari for sure lol
Well I guess I was wrong then lol
This is my first experience with the story so I’m not gonna say I’m a master of the lore here
@@MegaMadVladMMO A lot of the lore is explained outside the story, for example, there are several books.
Videos are definitely more up my alley than books lol
I did start a Sylvari, got them into the early level 20’s, so I did see the full grown birth part. Definitely didn’t know they were maybe 20 years old new lol
Super Important Microwave Salad 😭
I’m happy that you enjoyed the game tutorial and I’m sure You will enjoy the game itself, thanks for the video!

For the errors, during the story missions, this won't fix them all, but might help alleviate things:
Options -> streaming (near the end of the first tab) -> content streaming to max
I used to get those errors all the time, it's not as bad with this, but it's no magic bullet either unfortunately.
Thank you! I'll try that for sure!
I played free until around level 40 or 50, at that time i decided i liked it enough to buy and bought all chapters,, you wont regret it. i have not even thought about doing wvw or endgame yet, i have been having so much fun levelling and doing masteries and getting all my mounts except turtle and all the holiday events are way better than any other mmo. ya never get bored,
Glad to hear it lol
Thank you! ^^
The base game had a few spots that ended up killing me but they were still very manageable. I welcome more challenge lol
If you want more challenge, the following stories and maps will give you the challenge, for the real thing tho, try to avoid very full maps so you dont have the numerical advantage. You will see expansion maps are much more populated, usually
i have finished all the expansions and living world content and i will just say that if you play the whole thing you are in for a treat.
Interesting. I’ll have to give that a try if it happens again. Thanks for the heads up!
I can't believe that Snape kills Dumbledore in end of dragons
D=
Impossible.
If you want to see it, it should be out this week ^^
And thank you!
Yes! the material storage is a god send! Such a fantastic idea to help your bags not be so cluttered with, at that moment, items only useful when crafting stuff.
Definitely sticking around to see how this game goes further on lol
When I get back into the game in a couple weeks, that'll be the perfect time to see if I'm still having issues with the cutscenes and whatnot.

Oh interesting. I was wondering about that. Wasn’t sure if it was a visual glitch or not lol
Oh you're in for a treat with the LW Season 1... The overarching villain truly sells it... Hopefully you keep enjoying the game.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Have you tried to verify the files? That you can to on steam and it's similar to fixing the files as you read online
The ending is just 😆❤️
lol Thank you! ^^
This is true
Hi and welcome to GW2. You finally ended the main story so now you're for the good stuff :)
By the way, if you need any help or info just ask in map chat with /m.
Thank you! ^^
Also, this isn't so much a review as it's more of my viewpoint and journey into the world of GW2 lol
Hearing from quite a few people that it gets better after the base game is also great to hear lol
You got yours after the Steam release? Is it the Steam version or Arena Net's version?
@@MegaMadVladMMO it's the Steam version.
Definitely makes me wonder then. Very strange. After reinstalling the game for the 3rd time it could be fixed too. Only time will tell
You can also try locking fps to 60, changing game display from fullscreen to windowed fullscreen (or vice versa), switching game port to 80, 443 or6112 (idk how to do it on steam and which one is the default one)
Also it's worth mentioning that later content has checkpoints during instances so you won't lose all of your progress during longer missions. Keep playing because the story gets only better :D
Gonna screenshot this for future possible fixes lol
Yeah, I heard after I posted this video that there's checkpoints in future content. Great to hear for sure, but the real test will be on the other characters still in the base game lol
The story quality will go up drastically starting from the 1st expansion. Drastically.
Hell yea, welcome to Tyria!
lol Thank you!
Weird glitch I've encountered is Balthazar having no face during all 3 encounters in POF. Just eyeballs and a mustache.
I've never encountered that problem either; makes me wonder if it's something new in the steam release.
Yeah, if they can implement a checkpoint system into the OG story, it’ll be better for it in the end.
And thank you! ^^
BRO YOURE GONNA LOVE LIVING WORLD!!!!!!
I’m definitely looking forward to it ^^
lol your face at 6:55... baby maaaaaan BABY MAAAAAN!.
As a charr main, I stood there like "Just another tuesday."
PS.
So what is this "Whispers"?
@@MegaMadVladMMO One of the three factions in the game. People usually call Order of Whisper's "Whispers" for short. Same with Durmand Priory as just "Priory". Vigil is known as Vigil, but that's because their name is already only one word to begin with. Lmao
@@VirtuesOfSin OH! That explains it lol. Haven't heard it just called Whispers before
In the story of living The story of guild wars 1 may be needed.
Oh?
Found a possible fix recently saying that it might be an uncapped frame rate issue. Something I'm going to try when I hop on the game next
@MegaMadVlad The game has so much to offer for short money. Good luck on getting yours fixed.

Alright sounds good lol ^^
Trahearne there is a bit more going on with trahearne where it does kind of make sense why this academic becomes the general of the pact if you ever play as a sylvari character you get to know him alot better.
yeah. its all sunshine and rainbows from there... pardon me while i laugh in 9 year vet :P
If you have issues with the Steam version that can be fixed in the Non-Steam version, there is a way to use a Non-Steam installation through Steam.
Yop missing assets in story , dungeons , missplace camera SUX so hard . Really break any immersion i have
you finished the personal story and reached lvl 80 without even dyeing your armor lol RESPECT
Lol Don’t get me wrong, I do plan on dying my armor, just once I find a good set I wanna dye, as well as getting more dye options lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO this is the difference in the dye system in gw2! you can dye your armor for FREE and ANYWHERE, don’t need to go to a NPC os station, and don’t need to spend gold or any currency, just go to the dye section in your “hero panel” (H) and be colorful
Wait really? I thought it cost a transmutation to do that lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO this is the thing, transmutations serves to change the skin of the armor, not the color, the color is totally free c:
Good to know! Thanks ^^
Fingers crossed lol
yep, same, with original launcher not having any problems...for now...
Good luck Commander o7
I play with the "old" (standard) launcher since I started GW2 in 2014 ... it works without any problems for years ... but since a few weeks the game crashes from time to time and tells me "there`s a huge issue, send notofication to ArenaNet" or the game looses the connection to the game server ... I`ve reinstalled the launcher several time but it doesn`t help .... I never changed my general Windows system settings
don't play via steam, that's the solution...
Disconnections never happened to me, I don't use steam neither I encourage to use it if you have another option
Love how you used the dragon mount from WoW when it's an example of something stolen from Gw2 xD
lol I thought it was a good joke to put in
@@MegaMadVladMMO It made me laugh. xD
GUILDS AND WARS??!!! SOLD
Oh yes, guilds, wars, stories, characters, guilds, character development, stories, guilds, and even GUILDS!
It's weird, even my potato pc doesn't crash or disconnect or major technical issues. It probably the steam release...
Yeah it probably just comes down to the files being corrupt or something is my guess
You can change how the game starts to always check its validity with a dash option. Never had the problem you had in the eleven years I played the game.
When you would play the dlc heart of thrones you would get where the sylvarie are originated from, so there you might get another lead why trahearne is, how he is. :)
Looking forward to it ^^
Played form day one never been kicked in story nor had any bugs
Yeah, since posting this video, I’ve seen that apparently the bug I’ve been running into isn’t a wide issue
Wow gigachad hammer sw/sw warrior.
How do u only have 400 subs .. --_--
The bug kick thing never happened to me, shame that it happened to you :/ i can only imagine the frustration
maybe its a steam related bug? I know someone talked about a bug after the steam release where the char capital was replecated x) it was fixed tho
As for the trehern being the leader of the pact, he did lead it because the pact was formed to fight zhaitan, and who knows about zhaitan more than trehern? The dude spent his whole life studying zhaitan and traveling in and out of orr, he is affeliated and respected by the three orders for his efforts, he isnt a military leader yes, and thats where the three orders lead by the commander (you) take the mantle on the ground
It made sense to me that a pure military leader isnt enough to fight an elder dragon, fighting an unstopable force of nature like the elder dragons who are as ancient as the world of tyria requires a knowledgable leader more than a militant one.
Its why i always play the story with my sylvari first before any other race XD
make sure to play the 1st expansion heart of thornes with a sylvari charcter for some good impactful story 😄❤️
And maybe a human race in the second expansion path of fire and lw s3, but thats up to you ofcourse
Have fun traveling in tyria o/
@@someone_7233 lol Thank you for the recommendation! My Sylvari is currently in the 20's so it'll be a little bit of time but I'm looking forward to it ^^
dude there is a steam option to repair your local files
That’s what I click on but Steam just uninstalls and reinstalls after clicking it.
disconnected in story sounds awful i hope anet will fix these bugs in the steam port soon :s
3:55 ç_ç
Here’s hoping! 🤞
For the Warmaster
Huh i never had these issues i guess its steam version fault or maybe new dx11 update but i assume steam version
It's a good possibility. Even though both versions are the same game, it's possible they're still different in some functionality considering they start from different locations.
this game is way better then world of warcraft @ me and ive never had the issue of being kicked after cut scenes it might be a steam thing only
It’s possible it’s Steam only. Regardless hopefully it’ll be fixed so nobody else has to go through it like I did lol
Anyway I say this only because I really want this game to become more popular, it’s such a old but yet refreshing concept to throw you in the world and lean into exploration.
it got disconected in story content? sounds bad
The game is a lot of fun but the disconnecting was tough for sure. It's fixable but unfortunately required me to do stuff on my end to fix it.
Still recommend it though!
@@MegaMadVladMMO is it free?
@@GravitySlam Yeah, it's free for everything up to the expansions from what I've seen. Just need to download and go from there!
@@MegaMadVladMMO cool
ah the bugs
It still bothers me that players are forced to use a "core" build (talent points) from 1-80. Once you unlock your elite specializations (new fancy talent points) you'll never ever play core again. No one plays core. It would be so helpful to learn your actual spec from 1-80.
Yeah, once I got to 80, and enough Hero Points, I immediately put into Bladesworn lol
Finishing? Try starting 😀
The game only starts after you get 5 fleshed out characters with gigachad equipment...
Oh I’m working on it lol Just at a stopgap called solo Molten Furnace right now lol
Must be a steam problem my game works fine from there own loader
Continue through EoD
I am lol
the steam release is total technical mess. u just had to buy it from anet
Yeah... No
The campaign is garbage after Path of Fire.
Not saying it was ever good, this game boasts probably the worst RPG story I've ever seen, it only gets worse.
For a spoilers :
You start the game as one of the 5 races : Humans, Charr, Bigger humans, Cabbages or Mice.
Living World Season 2 is ok
Heart of Thorns is pretty good, even though maps are the most painful thing to navigate ever. It's so bad Arena Net made sure to never repeat their overly complicated design ever.
Living World Season 3 is meh, events are good, maps are so-so and the story really started going downhill
Path of Fire is bad, full of stupid characters doing stupid things for stupid reasons.
Nice spoilers /s
For real, what is the point of spoiling it all ? Hope he will never read your comment
Poor you, discovering the game with the most meme class with Thief. Actually PVE is trash playing those 2 professions. Necro, Revenant, Ranger, Mecha, Mesmer... are wayyyy better IMO and for most of thd people
Well this character in the video is actually a Warrior lol
The storytelling is the best in path of fire and subsequend living world chapters
Only 1 way for me to find out lol
