Make sure you enable audio units under the Garageband, Preferences, Audio/Midi tab, then enable audio units box it ticked. This will then allow you to use the AU sampler.
HUGE FYI: Make sure you go to preferences ->Audio/midi -> Enable AU (AudioUnits). I wasnt able to see the arrows to select the AU sampler before I did this.

Do I need to purchase a MIDI Keyboard and set it up to use my kit or is there a different way to use. Thanks for your help!
You can definitely use the musical typing, you just have to make sure you are in the right octave as the drum samples are only on a few specific keys. So you might have to sweep down and up the octaves on the musical keyboard to find which keys trigger the samples you have loaded up.
Hello! I have made my own drumkit of my own samples. Nothing used from garagebands patches. It works fine for me but when i share the patch with my friend it only sounds as the default sound. He has also all my samples and the preset file that you saved from the sampler. All of them is placed in the same folder as I have, but it still doesn't work. What am i missing? Thanks!
i followed same steps some how i got it andi record samples to my song but once i close the project and load it again everything change and gose back to normal and i get error msg from garageband i reinstall garageband but the problem still the same what can i do please i need help ???
@@Kurjistaja Have you looked through all the folders? sometimes the AU sampler is just in the first directory when you search the plugins, like when you click on the right hand side, sometimes its in the root directory. What operating system and version of garageband are you using?
@@StudioHacks There is no AU Sampler in any folder. Not in the root directory either. Operating system iMac 27-inch, Late 2009 macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 and Garageband 10.3.4.
Please help. Like another comment I saw, when I load in an 808, it clips. Typically, it only happens when the audio file is about 470kb or higher, and my fav sounds are all higher. please help meeee

Does the sampler stretch the sample appropriately to match the root note length when you play higher and lower or do you sacrifice length of sample for pitch variation?
Hey, got a really big problem using the sampler and can't find out why. I've followed the tutorial and my drum samples are loading in properly. I've saved it properly according to the video but when I close GarageBand or open a new project to use the new drums in a different project for some reason it won't let me select the samples I've saved, it brings up a sinewave but I removed the sinewave when adding my drum samples. The drum samples are not there even though I've saved it correctly and I can use them when I've added the samples but yet going to a new project the samples disappear and won't let me select the name I've saved in as. Could you please let me know what is going on if you can please.
@@jamesgoodson1794 hey man, I never got it sorted but I moved over to Logic pro but never experienced the same problem. Couldn't find anything online about that situation but I would suggest moving over to Logic pro. Can't seem to figure out why it does that. Annoying I know but hopefully this helps you
@@Matebro100 nah, i ended up switching to the tx16wx software sampler. been pretty easy to use in garageband once you get the hang of the basics and it's been way more reliable.
@@TheAngelLewis When you click on the name of the sample there is a setting called looping, you need to switch that off (might have to expand the sample drop down menu) you can also trim the start and the end of the sample under Start and End. Instead of starting at 0 try 20 or 30 it might get rid of the click. Also you can click on layer 1, choose perameters and muck around a bit with the attack time. If this doesn't work ill make a video for you

You might have moved the original sample from where it was and now the sampler can't find it.
@@StudioHacks This also keeps happening to me and I don't know why, I click save, but when we re-open GB, all I see is the Sine noise.

I have Garageband 10.3.4 but there is no AU Sampler. Audio units are in use. Other plugins are there. Has update taken it away?
You have to enable Audio Units by going to "GARAGEBAND-->PREFERENCES-->Audio/Midi Tab-->tick box "enable audio units". Then you should see it.

It won't let me add any files for some reason. When i click add file and try to click a file nothing happens.

The only plug in that is available in my garageband is "E-Piano". There are no up and down arrows underneath plug in :( HELP!

Don't know about that one, sounds weird. Maybe make sure the samples you are loading in are on your computer hard drive and not on an external one.
