  • The Taos Wool Festival is celebrating its 37th year. Managed by the Mountain and Valley Wool Association (MAVWA), the festival was established to promote wool growers in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Later in its history, Texas wool growers were added to the mix.
Animal fibers found in this region range from hearty breeds, such as the Navajo-Churro sheep and Angora goats to fine wool and luxury fiber producers of alpaca, bison, cashmere, and angora. Fiber festival goers appreciate the wide range of raw materials and finished goods available at this unique venue, including naturally colored, hand-dyed, and breed-specific fibers and yarns. These base materials are transformed into gorgeous works of art, wearables, and everyday objects of usable beauty by the growers themselves, regional fiber artists, and visitors to the festival.
Although we can’t be together in person our virtual festival can offer you a taste of this unique tristate region to add to your wheel, loom, needles, hook, felting board, and home.
