Sometimes I will use lemon flavoring in place of the vanilla; I've used lime juice. And at Thanksgiving, I've done a Pumpkin version. It is a delicious decadent dessert.

Do you store the cake in the fridge or can you leave it out?

I left it out of the refrigerator for a couple of days. Then I put it in the refrigerator.
