I live in Simon"s Town South Africa with a view of the False Bay. In November its warm and pretty sunny and the sea is a magic blue BUT can be very windy from the SE with no clouds just wind. I love to see your winter weather but I know I cant live in it as I was born in Surrey Uk and suffered with the cold as a kid. Our Christmas time is hot and sunny usually but the wind keeps it cooler for us on the coast, those inland have 30C or more where we have 25C. However in winter we go inland for our annual trip to find snow on the mountains about 160ks from home and sometimes get to have snow falling where we are driving. So it does snow in Africa but not at Christmas time in July or August. Love your videos as it enables me to see places I will never visit but am curious to see in all seasons. Keep warm and eat lots of the lovely digestive chocolate biscuits they are my favourite. Sue
You've captured the November light perfectly! Can't wait for the video with Wolfie. :) I'm with you on the swearing - I never swear on my channel but some days the air is blue in this house, ha ha!
I live in the midddle of Canada, we had a prairie snowstorm last week so it was time to fire up the snowblower! Sorry no tropical weather to share, lol! 🤷♀️❄️
Another fab video Sarah, look forward to seeing your video re the English comparisons..when I had a secondment opportunity to Gallup New Mexico in 1996, we had 2 Scots and 2 English OTs, so not only was there confusion between Scottish English, and English English, we then had to compare English/USA words and as I worked in the public schools we had blackboards, each day words were added from either the UK staff or the USA staff, it was hilarious eg USA fanny packs...we had never heard them called that as they are Bum bags in Uk 😂..anyway loving your channel and look forward to the next one. It’s a cold, howling windy night here on the west coast of Scotland, I’m hearing by you, it’s even worse, stay safe 😊
Haha yea..so many funny differences in our words! I have a massive list. Yes..we were a bit scared here last night as the wind gusts were over 90mph. Objects flying and destruction everywhere.
Right now, it is late Fall here in southern Pennsylvania and most of the leaves are down, but there are still some beautiful yellow ones hanging on. I love my walks in the afternoon as the sun comes through those lovely yellow leaves lighting them up like jewels! The juncos returned about two weeks ago signaling the coming winter, they always make me smile hopping about eating seeds off our deck. The days are getting shorter, with sunset about 5:00pm, and the cold weather is moving in. I love winter, but I am able to stay home and not drive in the snow, which allows me to enjoy it even more. Sarah, you have an amazing eye and your camera skills are simply stunning! Love your videos…they make me want to visit Scotland 🏴 even more than I already did! Thank you so much for bringing us into your life in a beautiful place! ❤️
I live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. It’s snowing and about 10 degrees Celsius below freezing (12F). But the snow scenes are beautiful and we do get some sun once in a while that just lights up the place. Thanks for sharing your videos of Scotland. I have been there before and your videos remind me of how beautiful it is there. Take care and hope you have a great holiday season!
Thanks for sharing. Both times I've been to Scotland (apart from when I was a wee bairn) was in Oct/Nov. Would love it if you could show other times of the year too, would definitely look forward to that 😊 Here in Tasmania, Australia the weather is changeable in November but we are gearing up for summer and today is one of those perfect, blue sky sunny days, around 20 degrees Celsius. Wish I could send some sunny warmth to you! 🌞🌞🌞
Hi Sarah! Love all your videos... beautiful there no matter the season! In Cape Town, South Africa it is summer...about 30 C...our electricity is off due to loadshedding (scheduled power cuts) so no aircon. Hence I live vicariously, enjoying the thought of cold air in Scotland! Sun sets after 8 pm here now, which is lovely. For the Q&A I would love to know where your favourite places to stay are ( meaning places and accommodation) when you go on trips. I know you have mentioned some in the past. Sending you South African warmth and light!💛✨
Hi Sarah! I live in a city near São Paulo and now it is raining with 25C...but at night is cold (for us) around 18C. This weather is perfect because we had a very dry winter and the dams are with a low level. Last year in the spring we got 40C ! So now is much better. Thanks for this beautiful video!
The pictures of the waves were really awesome, the colors are so amazing this time of year. I live in Germany and we've had a lot of rainy days the past weeks, so it's really nice to see the sun again I'd love to know how the two of you met and why you decided to move to scotland, though I think you'll answer those without me asking. So here's another question: do you miss where you came from (US I think?) sometimes? Not just the location but also the people, the food, the climate and so on...
So beautiful this time of year... and I love these shorter videos! Especially if it means we can have extra videos or 2 😀 I'm really looking forward to the video of you and Wolfie and American Scottish comparisons.
Pretty similar here in Massachusetts. Had a wind storm a month ago with wild wind. I'm on the coast so it gets windy here. Also cold, we had flurries yesterday nearby. Burr...winter is on the way!
I live in northern Germany, so no warm and bright weather here, sorry 😂 we have pretty the same weather like Scotland, big storms normally one day later… I often imagine where the wind travelled and think about Scotland. Time for another visit, maybe when you guys are back in the EU 😉 Looking froward to the QandA! I would like to know what’s it’s like for him to go outside with you and wait while you paint. I of course love to watch your videos and could sit next to you many hours, but is it the same for him? Thank you for all the things you share, it’s so generous and I love both of your channels here and the content on Patreon! Stay safe, Frauke
Summer in Sydney, Australia. Very near 5 ocean beaches just in my area., beaches are full! Christmas time is HOT and beach, bbqs, beer and bikinis...with Santa hats! ...are in abundance. Lavender coloured jacarandah trees in full bloom with lavender coloured flowers carpeting the streets. Dawn begins at 4.30am and dusk is after 8.30pm. I often go to my local beach to photograph the sunrise and smell the ocean. Many dog walkers, joggers and cafe lattes at that time! Monsoon rains usually in Feb but here early this year so warm rains and LOTS of flowering plants, my orange, mango, banana and avocado trees are planning big things for us!. Usually huge bushfires, smoke, flies and other pesky critters with temperatures well above 30C but being a La Nina year heat is well moderated this summer and bugs are in hiding. Oh....and here it's 'biscuits'! TFS!!
That sounds intense but lovely! Wolfy has relatives in Australia so we are planning on going eventually. I think I might prefer to go during your winter?
Hi Sarah. Here in western Australia after a prolonged winter and wet cold spring things really heated up last weekend almost reaching 37 degrees. Because we had so much rain there has been an abundance of flowers every where with beautiful purple jacaranda trees against the blue sky. Unfortunately the hayfever has also hit very badly. I decided to go to south beach in Fremantle around 6am to catch a sea breeze and there were so many swimmers and families there. I tried to to a watercolour sketch after 7 am but had to abandon it beacuse the sun became so intense. I drove straight home and sat indoors with the blinds down.it can get really hot. Which part of Australia do Wolfies live?. Spring is a good time to visit Western Australia to see the beautiful wildflowers and it's still cool enough to go hiking. It's just too hot in summer. Sending you warm intense sunshine lots to spare haha.
Gosh it sounds like a whole other world there! They live closer to Perth. But we really want to see the whole country as well as New Zealand (since it's a really long trip we need to make the most of it!)
Thank you for the gorgeous video! So excited for the Q&A 🤩 I'm in New Jersey, so most of the leaves have fallen already, although there are still occasional splashes of bright yellow on trails. Not too cold yet, mostly around 45℉. It's been dreary today, but yesterday and Wednesday were both lovely in terms of weather. Perfect for hiking and annoying my parents by running off to take reference photos haha
North west FL is where I'm from. Foothills of the Appalachians, to be exact. very hilly, BIG old growth timber, rivers, wildlife, farms. not much in the way of "culture" ... just nature. people come here from all over but they either adapt or leave. there's just no other way around it. the humidity is usually the deciding factor, not the hurricanes or the people. It can be stifling if all you're used to is air conditioning. just walk outside to get the mail and you will be drenched in sweat. feels like you're wearing a warm wet blanket and scarf. I've met a few brits, one scot, and one australian. only met one irishman passing through on his way to a wedding in panama city. the one montanan I met moved here a month before Hurricane Michael, weathered the storm, tried to battle it out for another year then gave up in June of 2019 and scurried back to the mountains. the weather was just TOO extreme for her.... i had to laugh at that because i would view montana as extreme. June is our drought period, risk of forest fire is always elevated.. but since the hurricane blew away the forests.... the risks were even higher because of all the dry deadfall. And that's what got to her. all the people coming into the store worrying out loud about the dry weather, and "when it finally does rain you better hope there's no lightning!" tried to reassure her but there was no stopping her. I've a native here. my roots go all the way back to pre-european days.... so i guess i'm thoroughly adapted through natural selection to endure the heat and humidity. all i need is shade and something to drink and i can play outside all day no matter how hot. The beach is over an hour away.. so that's a special treat for special occasions. Our seasons are usually a month or to behind everyone else.... Autumn doesn't start until the middle of November. Winter is somewhere around the tail end of January. And Spring can't make up its mind. It pops in and out starting in December, stays long enough to confuse the flowers and trees then disappears into dismal wintery gloom. When it finally comes in for real it lasts until the end of May-aaaaybe.... But you can always rely on summer to be summer until the end of October. Then Spring comes back! only for a minute or two. The neat thing about summer is you can set your watch to the rain. Like clockwork it appears around 4pm, storms for about an hour give or take. cools everything off, gives you nice sauna until the sun sets. OH! and i don't know about others but i have learned to predict hurricanes. I can always tell something is brewing off the coast of Africa or in the gulf based on the wind. If you have a nice breezy pleasant day - you can guarantee something tropical is brewing. That doesn't mean it will necessarily come your way, but it's a nice little headsup to start preparing. This week has been a balmy 85-87 degrees with rain or overcast skies..... and i love it. i have a farm with grazing animals, fruit trees, a few vegetables... so the rain is always welcome. Especially since the hurricane took away our trees. I've replanted several. i can water them myself but there's just something nourishing about the rain.
Denver was pretty extreme in many ways but different than yours. Wildfires (and human fires that turn wild) are the biggest threat. There were also some terrible floods because the drought dries up the dirt and it becomes hard then when it pours it just slides off like a slide. Pretty scary! Take care, I hope the weather isn’t too extreme for you this year.
We are in Northern California and today we went on a drive along our watershed creek. It was quite warm! We were in tank tops and enjoyed a picnic. We ended up in a small town at a pub where we ate outside. Of course it’s dark much earlier now and when the sun goes down it gets cold but tomorrow’s high is 72F. Sorry😉
Here in NEW England, rainy and chilly (high mid 40s), but the sunset is not until 4:18pm. Have you taught Wolfy about American Thanksgiving from your perspective? Im sure he'd have something to say about that.
Oh yes, he knows about Thanksgiving, but since it's not a holiday outside the US, he never remembers it (to be honest I forget most years until my parents call me )
Really looking forward to the Q&A video! I left a comment in previous video that I'd love to know the origin of Wolfy's name! By the way I'm in South Wales and the weather here today is very windy and rainy. I guess its quite similar to the Highlands but I suspect you have it more extreme. I'd live to visit again one day. I had my 18th birthday there with my family! I'm 51 now so that was a long time ago 😂 As always, thanks for the time and effort you put into your channel content.🥰
lol, good idea for a banned swear list 🤣the light this time of year is def gorgeous the sunsets are stunning, well except for now, its very grey rainy and snow/sleet here, cant see anything really but a few big trees blowing in the wind
It rains a lot year round! I think the rainiest month is historically January closely followed by December/Feb. But in 2022 November was the rainiest month.
I live in the Blue Ridge mountains of NC and all the leaves are down. It's been rainy and cold, and often foggy, but today there was a rainbow above the fog! However - mostly - the days of late November, December, and early January, when the sun is out, are perpetual sunsets, which gives them their own emotional tone. The timing of Christmas is no mistake. As for the changing weather, which we are also known for, we have a useful saying - there's no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices! Looking forward to a more "blue" video, in terms of language. Have you considered encouraging Wolfy to express himself as he usually does, and just editing out the words you think might get your channel banned? Be well!
I love the catch up conversations as well as the beauty of Scotland.

Wow I’ve never been to Africa (and I know it’s massive with many climates). It’s so interesting to hear about it!
You've captured the November light perfectly! Can't wait for the video with Wolfie. :) I'm with you on the swearing - I never swear on my channel but some days the air is blue in this house, ha ha!
LOL I had to ask wolfy what the blue comment meant 🤣
No midges is a November highlight ;)
I wouldn't be surprised if there were still some midges on the west coast!
Wow what an awesome upload! amazing video, GREAT....
Can't wait to see you guys arguing over words. 😄💜
Lol THANKS
We live in sunny Southern California, average temperature is 75 degrees during the day, Would love to visit Scotland some day and paint.
