I think the key is knowing the difference between “preferred” vs “available”; many people may be attractive and available to you, but there is one that you prefer to be with until the end. That choice circles back to your video on discernment and knowing that with God’s help and interventions you will make the right choice and not look back and wonder about your other “possibilities”.
We use our freedom as a time for self improvement and to grow closer to God. If we never marry, trust that we will find a way to use our singleness for His glory.💕
    Thank you both, Fathers! 😊

I don’t think that just because you’re looking back at other possibilities means that you made the wrong choice. That sounds over spiritualized. I don’t think that adds up. That’s sounds like secular advice with a Christian spin on it. Are you basically saying that you’re incapable of having feelings for someone else even after you’ve chosen a particular person? I don’t think thats realistic and even dangerous to believe. I think it’s perfectly natural to have the temptation to wonder about other possibilities because there are many people whom you are capable of loving and who are in fact lovable.

I like the message towards the end about two people making that conscious choice to forgo all others and choose each other. It sounds like the "soulmate" is not so much a predetermined thing, but more that a soulmate is created and "born" out of that radical commitment to each other for life. Which keeps it open to any number of possible choices and when that choice is made it is still beautiful, unique, deep and sincere. It's not a commitment of just the brain, but a commitment of the soul.

I didn't believe in soulmates, and then that exact story Father told at the start happened to me. It seemed like divine poetry that I was with a man I knew from infancy after years of circling each other. *And then it didn't work out.*
The whole ordeal has put me off romantic notions of The One in any form. It seems much healthier to let love happen if it does instead of looking for a perfect fit or a great story. A great love story isn't going to do the work for you in the toughest parts of a relationship.

Watching videos like these make me feel so full and fulfilled. I just found this and was watching videos all over UA-cam and they say so different things. I don't condemn them, but ive tried that life and its so lonely. Also if 1 person just comments something about how God is good, these people just come and hate all over them. While here being with God following and loving people... its just so much warmer. Its just so nice. I wish this feeling of fullness to everyone. Amen

My understanding of "'soul mates" or the way I view it is that God made someone for you but it is your choice whether you choose that person or not. You might choose to marry some one else for financial reasons, or because the guy for you doesn't look precisely how you wanted them too. Or you get married to someone else because your worried you'll be alone forever if you don't and then miss out on the person that God wanted you to be with. It doesn't mean you won't be happy with the person you married, but you won't be as happy as you would have been if you'd waited on God's timing rather than succumbing to other pressures or wants or needs. I believe God wants us to be with a particular person, the same way he calls people to be priests or nuns (and even guides them to particular parishes) but we have free will and can reject his will for us.

    • @g.Raider
      @g.Raider 4 роки тому +21

This is why I actually DON'T follow the typical advice to "Pray For My Future Husband." I do feel called to marriage and I want marriage really badly. But if it's God's vision, I'd rather trust Him to reveal it gradually on His time than pray with all of my listed qualities and procedures and get overly attached to my own (fictitious) version of a husband rather than His, and then be wrongfully disappointed in Him when I get it wrong. And God doesn't explicitly promise to provide us a spouse anyway, so it doesn't make sense to hold Him responsible for that. Instead, I'll pray for Him to help me grow in Holiness as woman. Because not only is that something I CAN control, it also matches the reality I'm in and makes me less likely to get distracted from what He asks of me.

People should focus on being the right person: someone with a kind heart, clear moral principles and a great deal of patience. And a capacity to enjoy life, to be thankful. Then keep your heart open to a partner has a loving heart, a strong moral compass and a sense of humour, you should be fine. Take time to get to know and love each other. Don't rush courtship. Then you can become soulmates over time. 😊

May read the Book of Tobit.
"So Raphael was sent to heal both of them: Tobit, by removing the white films from his eyes, so that he might see God’s light with his eyes; and Sarah, daughter of Raguel, by giving her in marriage to Tobias son of Tobit, and by setting her free from the wicked demon Asmodeus. For Tobias was entitled to have her before all others who had desired to marry her. At the same time that Tobit returned from the courtyard into his house, Sarah daughter of Raguel came down from her upper room."

Point well made. I once heard a priest say that if you are called to marriage, it is an arranged marriage, arranged by God, Himself.
Just because we have free will, doesn't mean that God hasn't chosen our vocations and the manner in which He desires us to live them out. For example, if one is called to religious life, God has prepared a specific place for that soul in a certain monastery, convent or parish, etc. Take the following account by St. Faustina for example: After having resolved to leave her convent, Jesus appeared in a vision to St. Faustina. Jesus was covered in wounds, His face, sorrowful, and laden with tears. Jesus said to her, "It is you who will cause Me this pain if you leave this convent. It is to this place that I called you and nowhere else; and I have prepared many graces for you." (Diary, 19)

That could also mean that God foresaw that through the various circumstances, Tobias would end up with Sara and he put his seal of approval on it.Doesn't mean it was fixed without any of their free will involved. Biblical language can be complicated.

I believe there is, simply because of this reason.
"God has a good, pleasing and perfect will, for you" (Romans 12:2).
There is a good, pleasing and perfect will of God for everyone's life but simply because of sin, that individual doesn't see it. So... context.
Context: sin is overcome by grace [through Christ] alone. And [by the grace and power of God the Father], you overcome sin. Context: by having [Christ in you]; you overcome sin. and [grace comes from God.]
Now through Christ, you have the grace to do away with your sinful ways. But because Sinning is not the will of God, those who are spiritually dead, never see it. ("The good, pleasing and perfect will of God.") Context: 'Those who aren't graced to do the will of God, never see it.' 'For you cannot and should not be spiritually killing yourself.' Broadly put. Another way to say this is; 'Sinning is easy, but being graced to do the will of God is hard. "Until conformed by grace, law and practice, which simply makes "Godliness" easier."'
Back to the topic. "By not living against Gods will" (Romans 12:2), "conforming to Gods will" and "abiding in Christ." 'You have the authority to ask God anything and he'll give it to you (John 15)', and that my friends, is how you ask God for a perfect relationship that shall be given to you. Relationship (and everything to do with a Godly relationship) and Patience are key to receiving, said topic. "The One." Thank you, love you and this was a great tangent :) lol I'm sorry if I offend anyone. Or if this makes no sense to you.

A few years ago I went to a Santero (Santeria Africana) and I foolishly asked if the guy I was dating was the "one". I really felt I loved this person and at the time couldn't see my life without him. But I was told he wasn't the one, and that I would meet man after man before I find my "soulmate". I didn't want to believe it but he was right, along with a hundred other things he was right about. I believe there is a soulmate out there and it's all about trusting and following God's plan, but of course we don't always meet them.

If you in a relationship with a person that suits you but something happens, your egos come between you 2 or what ever else.... I think thats okay cause God has someone else for you. You can learn from your previous relationship to not do the same mistakes in the next. That is how we grow and mature. But thats just me.

I wrestled with this a lot because it does seem to support the idea of a soulmate but I interpreted it this way. If it’s God’s will for you to be married and you desire to do God’s will then there should be someone that God wills for you to marry and that person will be what you need for the vocation of marriage that God has called you to.

Lol...I do notice the behavior of some guys who find me attractive and realize...I can make any relationship work and if the guy makes the effort as well then it's healthy. It's a choice. Just like my Ex choosing to allow things and people to come between us. I finally accepted that alone I cannot fix my toxic relationship. My soul is healthier without him. I understand the options and choices God presents and the illusion of a soulmate is no longer present. That reality helps to keep things clear.

I seen this cute girl today. She had this adorable look in her face. This girl just made my heart warm. Pretty adorable and so cute I just wanna cuddle up with her and take of her.
But i was thinking about soulmates. It is perfect in the sense that we have someone garanteed for us while knowing we wont be alone forever and knowing that someone is destined to be with us soon all we have to do is live it out in God’s plan.
But then I remember father mike speaking about free will and how our Heavenly Father gave us free will. So if we had a soulmate and he picked our wife for us then it means that we wouldn’t have free will because he chose our wife for us. Sounds good in a way but bad because what if she is perfect for us but we simply dont want them? Get it? Because our father God wants the best for us. So in my thinking process I’m thinking that he has the perfect wife for us because he wants good things for us. But my fear was “but what if the wife he gives is not who I want?” Why not just chose her myself.
I told my buddy about if God blesses us with the wife we want and he said “do you know what wife God wants for you?” I got scared because what if I dont want her and I want another one? But the good thing is that he gave us fee will in a way and have the freedom to chose who we want. Imagine if he chose our wife for us and she’s ugly lol 😂 and then we offend him for not doing what he wants us to do?
The good thing is our father is not controlling and allows us to do what we want. However he does help us in the process because he is a Good dad. Thank you guys.
Without free will we would be screwed and be forced to be with someone we dont want. Lol 🤣

I think you're looking at soul mates completely wrong. A soul mate is not the person you were destined to be with which takes away your free will. A soul mate is the person that God meant for you to be with that most perfectly matches you. So if He means for you to be with that person, do you not trust Him to bring those two people together? I think most people that end up in bad relationships, or even worse, getting married and then wanting a divorce, did not listen and trust in God when searching for their life partner and spouse. To respond to your comments about being attracted to many people, or even picking someone because they are attractive, seems to mostly be a weakness of the flesh. Its just like a person that is unhealthy and gets old with disease because they gave into junk food and drugs their whole lives. Did God not destine their bodies to be healthy and strong? No, of course He did! But the person gave into the weakness of their flesh and chose the wrong path. Soul mates also don't mean that there will never be conflict, because it is the nature of relationships to always have some of that, as they are a reflection of all of God's creation and we have seen that God believes conflict serves a purpose. But it is the good Catholic's duty to seek out wisdom and prepare themselves for such times.

Soulmates are real. I married wrong lady lol she met hers cheated on me with him and then I fell in love with mine when I was in ccd a saint came to the church and read into my heart and soul and said all this was gonna happen.. The virgin Mary spoke to me through her and said don't lie that I had a sin on my soul.. Well I lied and sinned.. But it's all very real just upset with my pastor for not preparing my ex wife and I.

It also doesn’t answer the question of thinking you’re soulmates until your marriage sours and you divorce. So, we’re you soulmates or not?

Some thoughts I've had- Take for example your mother. You dont choose who your mother is, God does. And yet as a child you possess an automatic inclination towards loving her because she is your mother(there are exceptions of course, but that is the usual inclination). Would you say that isn't free will? That you are being forced by destiny to love the individual that is your mother, because God put her in that position, not you? What if there is some kind of equivalent in a romantic partnership? What if God made someone who is so compatible with you that you feel a natural pull towards them, and therefore with your free will, choose to be with them? On the other hand, have you ever fallen in love unexpectedly and thought, I didn't choose this love- this happened to me? People may be able to choose to marry, for example, but they can't choose to fall in love. It just happens. We can't say, "ok I'm going to love this person now." So how much free will do we have in that?
So essentially, if the argument Is that soul mates can't be a thing because that would negate our free will to choose a partner, I would have to respectfully disagree. A soulmate is someone you fall in love with, and you can't choose to fall in love. Anyone that has experienced it knows it's not something you choose, it's something that happens to you. You can try to suppress it of course and make a decision that ignores your feelings, but you can't make them disappear at will. You may make the decision to marry your soulmate based on the love you feel for them, but you never choose to feel what you feel for them. And yet, you still have the free will to make the decision to marry someone other than your soulmate despite your love for them, which does and has happened.

He finally asked me out and we were married now for 30 years. No one else on this planet for me and marriage is hard!!!

I believe in soul mates for the reason being Adam and Eve, Genesis 22:22 and Adam was put into a deep sleep and he brought her to him’ the reason I believe in a soul mate, many people you can marry but only one will feel like your rib and that’s usually a two way street, I met a girl years ago who both use to dream about each other at the same time that I’m doesn’t happen everyday a deep soulful connection? And the last time I saw her a saw a message that said not everyone marries there soul mate’

I will never be right. God said thec2 become 1 how can Anything be right again my other half is not with me!

I'm here now kicking my heels and waiting for the Lord to call me home.

I believe that you can marry someone for the wrong reasons for sure........I did that ....with terrible consequences....The bible explains what love is......if you truly love someone and they love you and you are both free to.marry...then go ahead....simple....but make sure it's on a church with God' s blessing...thats all you need........

I respectfully disagree. There is one God (who is perfection) and one truth. This God has one perfect undivided will and desire for how human history should unfold for everyone's ultimate happiness, but we all keep mucking it up by improvising instead of following His perfect script. (I recommend Chesterton's play, "the Surprise", which explores this concept really well.) This being said, God is also a mater of contingency plans, and can always find a way to bring good out of evil. However, this does not change the fact that this reality-- even with the good brought out of it-- is only a second-best reality to the one where people did what God wanted in the first place. In terms of Soul Mates, there must be one ideal person that God created for you to marry if that is your vocation. However, there is always the possibility that either of the two people can mess it up, or that it could be messed up by other people's mistakes or sins. For example, your intended wife could have been aborted as a baby and you would never know it. This is where the Divine Contingency plans come in, and God will likely have someone else as a fallback for you, but it will forever be yet another divination from the original perfection that God intended. To claim multiple wills of God or multiple truths of God's plan constricts both His Oneness and questions His perfection. It steers dangerously close to skepticism and moral relativism for my comfort.

Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls)
Our Primary Vocation is Holiness Happiness is doing the will of God. Interestingly, that could also be the definition of holiness. The primary and universal vocation of every person in the world is to be holy-to become like Jesus Christ. Christ-likeness is the only success recognized by God. Or, as St. Bonaventure said: “If you learn everything except Christ, you learn nothing. If you learn nothing except Christ, you learn everything.”11 Interestingly, the people who take holiness seriously are also the people who experience the most happiness here in this life. Why? Because our holiness is preparing us for the supreme happiness of heaven, the true destiny for which we were made, not some glimmer of happiness which we might experience here. Holiness directly leads to fulfillment and human flourishing, and the entire concept of vocation encompasses both. The first vocation of every baptized person is to become a saint. While that may seem daunting, the good news is that this vocation does not require any discernment. The Church and Sacred Scripture both tell us clearly and definitively that holiness is everyone’s primary vocation. The Church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real though imperfect. In her members, perfect holiness is something yet to be acquired. Strengthened by so many and such great means of salvation, all the faithful, whatever their condition or state-though each in his own way-are called by the Lord to that perfection of sanctity by which the Father himself is perfect.

Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls)
The Vocational Pre-Determination by God When I was a vocation director, I would visit the Catholic schools in my diocese to teach the children about vocations. I explained to them that before God had even created the world, he knew them and he loved them. He already knew your name, he knew every thought you would ever think, he knew how many hairs were on your head, he knew your sins, he knew your good deeds, and he even saw the moment of your death and your entrance into heaven. And God had already decided your vocation before he had even made the world! Or at least, he had already planned to which vocation you would be called. When it finally became time for you to be born, God created your soul to go inside your tiny body, and it was created specifically for that pre-determined vocation. I call this concept the vocational pre-determination by God, or vocational pre-destination. If God is calling you to marriage, then he prepared your soul and gave you the gifts of body and soul to live out the vocation of marriage. If God is calling you to priesthood, then your soul and body were made with that vocation in mind. This will be an important hint for you as you discern. Look at the gifts God has given to you and where those gifts are best used to build up the Kingdom.
