How to Pray for Your Future Spouse

- If you’re wondering how to pray for your future spouse, one thing to keep in mind is that God wants to free you from any anxiety about your future. Praying about and for your future spouse does matter because God is outside of time, and he wants your will to freely conform to his perfect and eternal will.
“Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
There is no such thing as soul mates because we have free will. Nonetheless, God does have a hand in our future and in who we marry. He is the underlying cause of everything, and he cares who you marry because who you marry will affect future generations.
Sometimes we take the romance of marriage too seriously, to the point where we turn it into an idol. There will not be eternal bliss once you are married, so it’s foolish to place all your hope on how things will be once you find your future spouse. God wants you to live in the here and now, and he wants you to be happy here and now. At the same time though, only he can make you fully happy. When praying for your future spouse it’s important to remember that above all.
“Draw near to God and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8).

This came at the perfect time. I just started dating this boy who’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met and from the very beginning I’ve asked God to guide us through our relationship and we’ve grown closer and closer. Of course I don’t know the future but I can’t help but think this is who I’m meant to be with. I wasn’t sure in what other ways to pray for him but now I do. Pray for us please and wish us luck ;)
The Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit, if many churches are correct. If many churches are correct, the Trinity is a Family-- two Parents and a Progeny, similar to a human family.(Humans are made in the "likeness" and "image" of God according to Genesis 1:26, although the human author of Genesis probably didn't know about the Trinity when he wrote Genesis) In the book of Job, which is in the Bible, God is compared to a father and a mother with a womb "From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?"-Job 38:29. Because we can think of God as like a mother (Isaiah 42:14, Isaiah 66:13, Matthew 23:37, Catechism of the Catholic Church 2nd edition paragraph 239), all three roles(Father,Mother,Progeny) in a basic human family are filled in the Trinity. Saying that the Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit is another way of saying "the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son" which has been official Catholic teaching for centuries. The Church teaches that the Son is begotten by the Father. If this is correct, the Father is the Father(Parent) of the Son. The Church teaches that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. If this is correct, the Father and the Son are Parents of the Holy Spirit. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (second edition) paragraph 246 says that the Holy Spirit's "nature and subsistence" is "at once...from the Father and the Son."If the Church calls Mary mother(parent) of God even if Mary isn't the first source of Christ's humanity(God is the first source), then the Son can also be called a Parent of God (the Holy Spirit). If the Church is correct, the Father is the principle-Parent and the Son is the begotten-Parent. The scriptures are vague if the Holy Spirit is the Second or Third Person of the Trinity, whichever of these is true, the First and the Second may be the Parents of the Third. Parent definition from Merriam-Webster dictionary: One that begets or brings forth offspring. Principle means base/foundation/first-source/first-origin/root-cause. I pray for my daughter to know God (come back to church) and so her boyfriend (who’s Buddhist like his family). If they should be together than God move in their lives so they don’t sins or God closed the door in their lives if they’re not from God. Thank you for posting this video. I think I'm older than you two - I'm a Catholic guy in my mid 40s now and have never been married which is something I feel a bit disappointed in. I have felt (and been told this by friends too) that I'd one day make a good and caring husband as well as father. I love this idea of praying for your future spouse and offering sacrifices for them too! Me older sister taught me about this years ago as well as the "future spouse box idea!" Which is like what you were saying, writing letters, journaling for them, prayers for them, sacrifices, etc and write everything down and hold them safe in a box until the day of your wedding night! (But even when you find the one don't tell the guy)! Thanks again guys

I prayed a novena to St. Therese, and met my now fiancé either during or immediately after the novena! Hard to remember exactly when, because I only realized it in hindsight. It was also during Lent, and tha year I had given up wearing makeup. That's my advice to ladies!

I’ve been praying to my future spouse for quite some time, but I recently opened up my heart to learn more about how to grow into a good wife. Even now at a young age, sometimes I want to just find a partner and forget about the rest. However that won’t lead anywhere. Since God is love, giving that love to someone else, the true kind of devotion will last. I trust in you Lord to lead me to my future. Whether that means getting married with a family or living as a daughter of Christ 😇

Someone I never really knew and haven't seen in over a year was kind to me in simple ways that have left a lasting impression on me, because I've only ever received them from people at least twice her age.
Wanting to reciprocate her kindness, I was advised to to so via prayer, so that's what I've been doing ever since.
Am I praying for my future spouse? Having chased too many rainbows recently, I refuse to entertain the presumption. But in ignoring the possibility, I could end up ignoring God's will in the future. So in the meantime, I accept the (current) improbability instead and continue praying for her, as I know my fervent praying will not be in vain, even if I never see the fruits of my labor in this life.

This really helped me. My mom and dad are planning to get me married to a girl who doesn't like catholic church but the girl is ok to get converted to catholic and get married in catholic church.
I want to live catholic faith and get married as a catholic and raise my kids as catholics. Marrying a girl who belongs to other denomination and doesn't like catholic made me feel very unsafe and very sad. I was almost in a state of depression.
But now I leave this to the hands of God who knows what is good for me.

I will say on this subject I see a lot of people who are so focused on that future that they totally ignore the reality of the present that they are in.
i am a little afraid of what i am going to be. i do not think i want to be a religious sister but i also do not feel ready to have a boyfriend. i do not think i want to be alone all my life. it is sort of boring be alone forever because i am very curious and i love to talk a lot. my dream is to be lucky and find a guy who is romantic and respect my boundaries. someone who is silly and smart. makes me laugh and loves to have a good laugh. if he is catholic with his sacraments, what a blessing.
