Thank you!! Works perfectly on my MP 5,1 running Monterey without any additional modifications, just plug & play. Paid $44 total & I can't believe OSXWifi charges >$100 for the exact same thing. Ridiculous.
If you bought a mac pro back in the day, even the trashcan now, it actually did end up being good value for money for how long they have held up. And still hold up thanks to OCLP
Could you link the articles you've been following, I have ordered all the parts yesterday, so much cheaper then the kit hehe so thanks a lot. I will be upgrading this as soon as I receive the items but the articles would be nice :) Thanks for this video
Maybe this is a stupid question but if I don't care about Bluetooth support, could I just use a USB Wifi Adaptor instead to restore wifi to a 5,1 Mac Pro? The eBay vendors linked don't ship to my location unfortunately. USB Wifi, or access point + connecting to the ethernet would actually be even cheaper. Thanks!
The updated adapter you linked doesn’t fit with bcm943602cdp card. Card fits but doesnt sit flat on adapter because of new plug for red and black cable, and screw holes are covered. Going to try and see if it still works
Hi, have the same card installed and my 5.1 sees the card in system report, but no network is showing up. what could be wrong? Monterey installed with opencore. Thanks!
Hmm I don't know how it would work with Opencore, as I don't use it and just have a standard Mojave installation. I have never upgraded past Mojave with Opencore, so I couldn't really give you guidance to why it wouldn't work. Sorry about that!
I'm considering doing this on my 2010 5,1 running High Sierra (soon to upgrade to Mojave, and possibly to Monterey). I'm currently running the Airport Extreme model (0x14E4, 0x8E). I realize you did this mainly for bluetooth usage, but, I'd like to know if you noticed an improvement to your wi-fi experience? Same or better? Downloads faster? More stable connection to your router? Thanks sir -
Hey there, I did also do this wifi card upgrade for the faster Wifi and not just the bluetooth. The wifi experience is so much better. The old Wifi card was sluggish compared to this new wifi card which I feel is at least 2x as fast. This mac pro sits far from my router so that wifi 802.11AC compatibility makes a huge difference. Downloads are much faster. I highly recommend you do this upgrade to your Mac Pro 2010.
Hey there! I don't think it's absolutely necessary to replace the screws, I'm sure you can use the old screws if your new kit does not come with extra screws
12:46 hey man really APPRECIATE the links! All the parts finally showed up…but it’s not showing any Wi-Fi channels or Bluetooth connections. I notice you mention some software fiddling to get this working properly…can you list your solutions as well? I’m in OCLP 0.6.7, Monterey 12.6.7 Thanks!
The only software fiddling that you need to do would be in Windows 10. It works right out of the box installed with 10.14 Mojave. I haven't tested this in OpenCore patcher so I'm not sure of its compatibility. I would recommend using the Refind PLUS bootloader as it works great with Mojave, Windows, and Linux. I have updated the description with a link to this.
No sir you do not have to update your WiFi card to update to Mojave. But however you must have a Metal compatible GPU installed like the RX 580 I have in my video.
hey how you doing? thanks for sharing the video, can you please provide a link to where to buy the correct antenna cable? i always pick up the wrong one hahaha
Hey thank you! The antenna cable was hard to find! Please check the description, I updated it with the links I used to purchase everything in the video.
Hey man! The eBay link for the Bluetooth card went down and says there's an error for the link. Could you reply with the part name and/or number? Thanks!
Actually, I just double checked and it looks like the link for the adapter was expired. So sorry about that. I just updated the description with a link to the same adapter from a different seller. Let me know if you still have issues!
This card is very expensive in my country and i cant get the adapter and extender here if you live in turkey life is very hard if you go rich oneday you can send me this kit lol

Glad I could help & OSXWifi is out here overcharging for sure 👍
Have you used Martin Lo's Opencore or OPLP on your mac pro 5.1?
If you bought a mac pro back in the day, even the trashcan now, it actually did end up being good value for money for how long they have held up. And still hold up thanks to OCLP
The Mac Pro 2012 is most definitely the best bang for your back, even today. Don't care much for OCLP, Mojave still holds up well to this day.
Thanks, dude! Your video was the easiest to follow. Those antenna connections are obnoxious.
Thanks my guy!! Happy it worked out for you
THX SO MUCH BROOOOO!!!
Happy to help bro 😎

Hey there, I updated the description with one of the articles I followed. You can also follow the guide on OSXWIFI, it should in fact be the same.

hello, good video, did this work with Opencore of martin lo? thanks
Hi there, I personally have not tested OpenCore with this but looking at the other comments it looks like it is also compatible

Hey there thanks for letting me know. For now I will take down the link. Were you able to get it working?
@@indianboi3 i can confirm it does still work!
@@camiloymw thank you for the confirmation!!

Does the cable length have to be 30 cm?
Hey boss! Looking at your links, do i need both the wifi card and the adapter from the updated link?
Yes sir you will need both the WiFi card and the adapter. The adapter is necessary to make the iMac card work inside a Mac Pro.
