@@MrVitalic85 I use a 2003 PMG5 1.8GHz as my home server. It currently has 6 disk drives in it, 4 via a serial ata raid card, 8GB of memory and running 10.5.8. Stable. As. A. Rock. 19 years old, and still working for a living.
Great job, and nice to see how others do it. I've done a lot of these and find a 30cm antenna extension cable is perfect for length. Also, I go for the adapters that require the USB cable to be soldered in and I then make up my own cable using the old Bluetooth module plug. Be careful of your wire placement when replacing the tray support frame, those 6 screws can easily squash a cable if not routed out the way correctly. I use sticky pad clips similar to apples original to hold them out of sight for that OEM look. It looks like you're using a Bluetooth 4.0/Wifi module, the same method can be used for 4.1 and 4.2 types. The 4.2/Wifi module is the latest that can be fitted to the Mac Pro in this way.
Yea this was a very quick and dirty “screw it, let’s throw $10 bucks at it and see if it works” attempt 😆 This Mac is still slated for a full teardown and proper cleaning so all that stuff will get done at some point… maybe..
@@TheHouseOfMoth Perfect, they are so nice to work on and fun to clean! That air compressor you fixed should do a nice dob. My comments were more for others that have watched your Vid, I'm not telling you how to do it 🙂
Thanks for the information on this video. I have a 2012 Mac Pro and just installed a new Bluetooth and Wifi card. The new Bluetooth card installed isn’t recognizing my Magic Mouse. I followed the directions very closely and exact. Do I unlock it with a Apple Watch, or something?
Hi, have the same card installed and my 5.1 sees the card in system report, but no network is showing up. what could be wrong? Monterey installed with opencore. Thanks!
I just did this on my 5,1 as I too had a BCM94360CD in a PCIe card that was no longer being recognised by Monterey (via Martin Lo's opencore). I watched your video several times beforehand. Bit of a fiddly job (mainly the "turning the card+adapter around without the wires popping off" bit, and my woeful soldering skills to get the USB cable done), but it works, although BlueTooth won't connect to my iPhone, although they do see each other. Any ideas?
Have that same version of the RX580, were you able to flash it for use with a boot screen? From the guides that I found, the bios flash wasn't compatible with the memory modules on my card.
Cool...Can i do this to my 6.1 mac pro Trash can?.wifi is 8.11,But bluetooth needs upgrading i believe?.Googled it, and its said i could, but only with a Mac book pro 2015 card?..is that true Guys?
This is a great tutorial i will use it later! Thank you. This may be an odd question. How do you transfer your iphone pictures? I'm old school can't stand icloud. I typically use Win10 to do this because i like to see the folders in my mac pro i cannot. With BT4 i may just use the airdrop if it makes sense.
Thanks Matt! I import my photos daily with USB on my Mac to the Photos app. Only takes a few minutes depending on how much material I have and it's all stored safely locally.
Why not just use 1 of these?"5,1 Genuine Apple WiFi Upgrade Kit 802.11ac a/b/g/n/ac Bluetooth 4.2". I missing a functionality? BTW Music is very nice! Thanks Hamp

great choice of music
The music RULES!
These Mac Pros are just incredibly well built, in my opinion. Far and beyond anything from any other computer manufacturer, brand name or otherwise.
I very much agree!
They are the best ! I have a sweet spot for the 2004 power mac G5, beautiful machine.

Great video Jay! I have to update my Airport and Bluetooth module one day. Hey I have 2 of those blues/jazz soundtracks in my videos too. Great tunes.

@@StueyMonster All good, I understand! And the compressor is still in pieces. Shhh, don’t tell anyone. I am the master of unfinished projects 🤫
Haven't seen very many of those old stands for wheeling the Mac around.
Nice camera work in a tricky space

I've never flashed a GPU before, they just work with OpenCore installed!

I'm totally interested in that driver set you have, especially the flexible attachment. Do you mind me asking where you got it?
That’s an old iFixit kit, luckily I got that before they start building them cheap

I already had the wifi card on a shelf so didn't need a kit, and also wanted to do it as cheaply as possible :)
What gpu,s do you run?.3.4 ghz.?
