🌷I watched this on my little iPhone screen. I thought it was going to be another fluffy silly movie. I’m in my 70s, I’ve seen every type of imaginable movie out there…. My expectations here were low - lol. But, this was a good movie; well written directed and acted. It kept my attention, and it seemed ‘real’ (ya, I know the crossing through the veils of time part was different but still… ) My very best to you all… Also… be proactive in finding a true, long-lasting, mutually-unconditional love. Join clubs & groups… join the Audubon Society, join a hiking group… anything; if you don’t, you may blink your eyes, and wake up in your 70s… it truly does go that fast dear ones. 💕
I’m watching right now, 10/03/2024. This like Somewhere in Time and movie of Sandra Bullock and Keenu Reeves “The Lake House”. I love them both, now this is the 3rd one I added to my list of time travel love stories❤
I watched this movie over & over. I didn’t want the movie to end, so like crazy, I rewind. Back & forth I watched. This is one movie that touched me, BIG TIME!! Whoever created this movie is genius. Late to the party! Watching this on a lazy Sunday afternoon in July 2024. This is so romantic and touching, sort of like a forbidden love. The time travel reminds me a bit of the movie ‘Somewhere in Time.’
I think this was a HALLMARK HALL OF FAME movie when it came out. They don’t make them any longer! Hallmark turns out silly garbage now, same as Disney!

When I met the love of my life, I was reminded of a letter I wrote at 14 addressed to him, the love of my life… certain details of my letter were exact; we only had hours together just like these two… it has been enough for a lifetime! Those hours were beyond magic , I surrendered to love itself, together we reached a sacred space, that I return to every time something reminds me of us. Tonight I just stumbled into this movie, perhaps just to remind u all , it’s possible, it happens. Such a connection 💕 does exists. Love, the real thing ,is the strongest force in the Universe !

Back when Hallmark actually had a soul? Who wrote this gem of a movie? I was not worthy to sit through such romance and historical accuracy, and to stumble upon it by chance no less. My word. I am two years older than Lizzie now. My word. I am blissfully speechless.

The truth is, souls can feel each other even when we can't recognise the faces in this birth; the kind of pull two souls can have towards each other, and the way it is beyond all kinds of logic. I've felt it twice in my life, the only sad part is that people don't really understand that we're connected with each other with certain people over lifetimes, and our soul actually tries to get back to our loved ones in this lifetime. And it is absurd when we try to make others understand of it, coz it doesn't make sense at all. This movie is certainly beautiful. I've seen the same kind of plots in other stories also, same faces and same souls where the universe plays its magic, and tries to connect them with each other. I don't know how many of you have seen Dark on Netflix, which is based on the same theme, walking through the blackhole and crossing time in different eras.
I was hoping so much when he was at the cemetery that he’d meet someone who looked just like her - and he did. A beautiful fantasy movie to warm your heart 💞

Oooh. I love movies in the 80s. The color of the picture, the scenery, the clothing, the hairstylw, something about it just seems happy. I miss it. I miss my childhood in the 80s, too. Sometimes, I'd wish to go back to it even just for a day.

This is scary, just finished watching the movie, and thought, I will have a quick read of the comments. I read yours and you mention The Lake House. While I was watching the movie, I put on the TV, for the evening news in Melbourne, then then changed channels to see what was on the movieland channel, and it was The Lake House, a bit of a coincidence.
Watched "The Lake House" after seeing this movie. Really enjoyed both as I'm into this type of storyline as well as time traveling movies/shows like "Outlander."
SEPTEMBER 6TH 2024. I watched this beautiful movie and I had tears in my eyes for most of it! Loved it! This movie kind of just happened to be there when I was kind of surfing you tube the last two/ three days, I almost watched it two days ago but now I finely did❤
Great film. But the best time travel film ever is from the Original Star Trek Series. The episode called’ The City at the edge of Forever’. Highly recommended.
Saw this movie on TV many years ago and ADORED it! Took me years to track down a region 2 version on DVD and I will not lend it to ANYONE as it would be impossible to replace! Yes, it's really that good... drop everything and watch it immediately❤
One of my most favorite movies because of the spiritual nature of it. Most people don't understand we don't have past lives, we're living all of them now, this is the only place with time. This demonstrates that well along with soul mate energy and how that works from lifetime to lifetime.
One of the best films ever! We always caught it but missed the credits. I called it “letters in the desk” for years until the internet helped find the title.

I don't usually watch romance movies because sometimes they're over the top but because it's Campbell and Jennifer Leigh I know it's worth a try and thank you, it is!
I totally enjoyed this movie in all its greatness. How love can transcend time is real and remarkable and how a true heart knows the difference from real love and perceived love I was engrossed the whole time and loved the idea of the letters. They're so much more personal than a text or email. ugh modern world sucks...I myself feel I have been transported from a different time and its the 1800's. I have always felt a true connection to this time period. I have spent many a November birthday weekend in Gettysburg with my bff. I even had the dresses made and we found original accessories in antique shops along the way there. I also am a writer, poet and felt a true connection to Elizabeth (both as a rebel and a writer). India, August 31, 12 47 am. I have felt this when I found my true love in the most unusual circumstances who comes from an absolutely different background and generation. Instantly you recognise, trust the person, as if you were waiting for him all this time, you have a deep connection from a past life - both ways and get bound for life inspite of all the distances we have in between from age to family and society. Our feelings got stronger over a period of fourteen years. We don't live with each other and live absolutely separate lives in two parallel worlds with no expectations from the relationship but we are still connected. I am still waiting alone to have a life together but that seems impossible in our present lifetime. I hope this movie is a work of fiction but sometimes fact is Stanger than fiction.
True, I have this type of connection, I met my boyfriend in the UA-cam comments by chance, different cultures, nationalities and timezones, it's been a hustle to bridge the distance and meet, but it was worth it, I feel he's the one, my future husband.
I was 20 years old when I met my husband in 1983. I can still remember what he had on that night. I instantly knew that he was the love of my life. We married 2 years later and was married for 34 years when he passed away at the age of 57 years. Braincancer. 5 years later he is still the love of my life and I will not marry again. I miss him every day.❤

Scott and Elizabeth had an amazing connection. They connected on a deep level. They wrote to each other back and forth. Scott loved her so much that even when Caleb would have died he wrote to her to stop him from fighting on the front lines. After she got the letter ✉️ she rushed to save Caleb but it didn't change anything. Debra was broken hearted when he told that he loved Elizabeth. Elizabeth eventually became a teacher and died after. It was a strange ending when he met with someone like her at the end. But on her gravestone she said she never forgot. Nice movie 9/10.

This is similar to my story, i met him by chance in the UA-cam comments, separated by continents and timezones, our connection was so strong, we talk everyday through whatsapp for 2 years, i am now about to meet him for the first time in the physical world.
Oh dear - I hope not. But if he were he'd probably asked for money over and over during those two years. There are plenty of scammers - but there are also wonderful people to meet :)
Since writing is my main hobby, my eyes were eager to peek at the love letters. Being a realist, the present environs was a good anchor for the flights of fantasy. Altho i avoid sci-fi movies, the flawless editing of the past to the present calmed my mind to swim with theme that love is timeless. Truly enjoyed the transition of a secret box of the desk for receiving the romantic sentiments. Another plus was the sensitive face of Campbell Scott who admits that he was conflicted about a ghost female and his girlfriend. It helped me to keep walking with Scott's thoughts as he sorted out whom to choose as his true love among the two loves. Many women would be surprised to realize that men commonly make a choice between two loves. Because i have never been in love (a data person), this film helped me a little to connect the idealism of love to my feelings about mutual affections. Adam Young.

Watched "The Lake House" after seeing this movie. Really enjoyed both as I'm into this type of storyline as well as time traveling movies/shows like "Outlander."
I saw the Lake house too. They don't make movies like this anymore.

Great film. But the best time travel film ever is from the Original Star Trek Series. The episode called’ The City at the edge of Forever’. Highly recommended.

One of my most favorite movies because of the spiritual nature of it. Most people don't understand we don't have past lives, we're living all of them now, this is the only place with time. This demonstrates that well along with soul mate energy and how that works from lifetime to lifetime.

I don't usually watch romance movies because sometimes they're over the top but because it's Campbell and Jennifer Leigh I know it's worth a try and thank you, it is!
I totally enjoyed this movie in all its greatness. How love can transcend time is real and remarkable and how a true heart knows the difference from real love and perceived love I was engrossed the whole time and loved the idea of the letters. They're so much more personal than a text or email. ugh modern world sucks...I myself feel I have been transported from a different time and its the 1800's. I have always felt a true connection to this time period. I have spent many a November birthday weekend in Gettysburg with my bff. I even had the dresses made and we found original accessories in antique shops along the way there. I also am a writer, poet and felt a true connection to Elizabeth (both as a rebel and a writer). Tku again for sharing this movie. Deeply appreciated. xo

India, August 31, 12 47 am. I have felt this when I found my true love in the most unusual circumstances who comes from an absolutely different background and generation. Instantly you recognise, trust the person, as if you were waiting for him all this time, you have a deep connection from a past life - both ways and get bound for life inspite of all the distances we have in between from age to family and society. Our feelings got stronger over a period of fourteen years. We don't live with each other and live absolutely separate lives in two parallel worlds with no expectations from the relationship but we are still connected. I am still waiting alone to have a life together but that seems impossible in our present lifetime. I hope this movie is a work of fiction but sometimes fact is Stanger than fiction.
True, I have this type of connection, I met my boyfriend in the UA-cam comments by chance, different cultures, nationalities and timezones, it's been a hustle to bridge the distance and meet, but it was worth it, I feel he's the one, my future husband.
I was 20 years old when I met my husband in 1983. I can still remember what he had on that night. I instantly knew that he was the love of my life. We married 2 years later and was married for 34 years when he passed away at the age of 57 years. Braincancer.
5 years later he is still the love of my life and I will not marry again. I miss him every day.❤

Scott and Elizabeth had an amazing connection. They connected on a deep level. They wrote to each other back and forth. Scott loved her so much that even when Caleb would have died he wrote to her to stop him from fighting on the front lines. After she got the letter ✉️ she rushed to save Caleb but it didn't change anything. Debra was broken hearted when he told that he loved Elizabeth. Elizabeth eventually became a teacher and died after. It was a strange ending when he met with someone like her at the end. But on her gravestone she said she never forgot. Nice movie 9/10.

Since writing is my main hobby, my eyes were eager to peek at the love letters.
Being a realist, the present environs was a good anchor for the flights of fantasy. Altho i avoid sci-fi movies, the flawless editing of the past to the present calmed my mind to swim with theme that love is timeless.
Truly enjoyed the transition of a secret box of the desk for receiving the romantic sentiments. Another plus was the sensitive face of Campbell Scott who admits that he was conflicted about a ghost female and his girlfriend. It helped me to keep walking with Scott's thoughts as he sorted out whom to choose as his true love among the two loves. Many women would be surprised to realize that men commonly make a choice between two loves.
Because i have never been in love (a data person), this film helped me a little to connect the idealism of love to my feelings about mutual affections. Adam Young.
