The Secret to This Model Car Club's Success

At the GSL in May of 2023 we visited with members of a model car club renown for their group builds, camaraderie, and award winners. Over 30 years and still growing. Billy Kingsley, David Best, Mike Kenney, Karl Betterton, Ron Weissinger, Rick Hanmore, Vince LoBosco, Don Betterton, and Mike Felix join fellow club member Doug Whyte to talk about what makes the Town Of Newburgh Model Car Club so special.

The club I am in Silent Traffic is based on a similar principle. No officers or regiment, just get together and show and talk models. Even though I moved to Thailand and am now considered an international member, I still feel like I'm still included. We always paid dues to cover the firehouse rental but very laid back with a great group of guys who I miss hanging out with.

Thanks Doug for high lighting what a Model club/Group is all about. I've been in a group of fellow modelers now for 18 years here Tasmania, Australia. and was a member of a scale model club with no real joy. Too political. However our group continues to meet every second Thursday evening in a Community men's shed and we have fun building and sharing and mentoring each other in our build's . A great spirit lifter and encourager for guy's who are of our vintage. Cheer's JV
