Crazy how y’all don’t even pay attention to the title of the show. VINLAND Saga, not Viking Saga. Vinland literally represents the idea of paradise and peace that Thorfinn strives for; the complete opposite of what Vikings represent.
Also the word "Vinland" literally means "land of wine" or more generally "farmland". So this arc being called "farmland saga" as a fan nickname is kinda just a restating of the series own title.
Ngl the way they positioned the scenes it makes it look so tbh, him choosing violence whether it be to save Einar or not and then the scene of him falling down a pit would make it look like he's falling back down to his old ways
they didn't JUST say he's going back to his old ways, they were saying he was going to use violence in a more direct and useful way, rather than just killing to kill, which is not that awful of a guess
@@yournan116 That's definitely how it seems but that's the point. the story makes us believe he may be falling but he'll obviously start to climb again and find his new purpose most likely going to Vinland like his father wanted and becoming a better person a "true warrior".

For those who are interested in reading along with the manga, this episode adapted the entirety of chapters 68 to 69. In regards to the passage of time (the manga is sometimes more explicit about the dates) during this episode it’s supposed to be winter now and Lent soon (as Sverkel indicated), so it’s probably meant to be around February-March of 1016, i.e. another few months have passed since the previous episode. A little bit of trivia, the very opening scene of the episode (where Thorfinn is staring at a child version of Einar) is an anime original addition/scene. And to be clear, child Einar in Thorfinn’s dream is just symbolic of the types of people Thorfinn used to pillage and raid as a Viking, as Thorfinn wasn’t directly involved in either of the times Einar’s village was raided in the past (the first time was done by English soldiers, and by the second time Thorfinn had already been sold into slavery as punishment for attacking Canute). And the main reason why Thorfinn hasn't thought about his mother and sister is for the same reasons why he currently feels "empty" and without purpose.
@@c3p6 funny it’s the title of the series yet season 1 had nothing to do with Vinland besides leaving it. Thors hasn’t once thought about his family, but what’s mentioned to even thorkell from thors is about being a true warrior. I’m not a manga reader so you assuming it’s obvious based on the title of the show isn’t a valid assumption. “Lmao”
@@JointJester cuz it’s the first of many seasons of the series. Not to mention the entire first season is literally a prologue to the whole story. Season 1 is about Violence and Thorfinn’s drive for revenge. The rest of the series is about letting go of that and learning how bad and pointless violence is. That’s why Thors literally said in episode 1 “You have no enemies” and later on “A True Warrior doesn’t need a sword.” The series is about Thorfinn’s journey to understanding those words and what they actually mean, and finding a land of peace aka Vinland; which Leif and his father taught him about.
I honestly can't wait for the next episode to drop because THAT episode will be the deciding factor for who's watching for the story or just simply watching for the action. Episode 9 will be the episode that will define Thorfinn's character for the entire series and I know these guys will not be happy to see it and probably drop it eventually like with Mob Psycho.
yall still didnt notice but the old woman thorfinn keeps seeing in his dreams is the same woman who took him in episode 6 of season 1 and who he later betrayed by guiding askeladd and others to the village. basically she is a representation of the innocents he has killed/helped kill.
I think Thorfinn is going unconscious. after he gets up he'll start to realise whh he can use his strength positively and that starts to form his purpose
quite sure they are expecting thorfinn will go back as a warrior like he was before but less edgy. i think they really need to google what vinland saga is and who is the person thorfinn based of,before they get very disappointed from this series, cause a lot of things here are fictionalized from the real things
