Can I ask you a bike related question on wheels? I have just received a new set of disc wheels fairly pricey and when I come to put the rotors on the splines before torquing them they have a lot of play on the splines I have fitted many new rotors on various wheels over the years and the rotors on the splines have always been a snug fit prior to torquing up. What are your thoughts on this as it is something that bugs me and may send them back do you come across this?
@@nolly485yea that doesn’t sound right. If it’s as bad as you described it. You could have just got a bad set that wasn’t machined properly. Contact them if it has play because that is no good
@@GCPerformance18I have contacted the wheel builders and they said that's normal and once torqued up it will be fine They have said I got 28 days to decide to keep them I just need to know if this is normal. So all your rotors you put on prior to torquing have no movement on the splines?
I have the carbon spoke version on my gen 7 madone slr and they spin up fast and hold there speed very well. I’ve had them for about 4 months and they’re pretty good for the price. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone for a budget friendly aesthetically pleasing wheel set. I do wish they were lighter though.
Well if your adding depth it means added weight for a fly wheel effect besides the obvious aero gains, a wavy 65 wheel is more aero than a 40. It makes a difference, the claim is there better in cross winds but I don't believe that
Got these a week ago with the black logo design. I have a grey Scott Addict 20, a bit like the design of your Seka and the undulating profile makes the bike a bit more interesting. I drove them and they are very comfortable and stable. I use 30mm Pirelli P-Zero with Pirelli tpu innertubes. The acceleration is remarkably good for the weight. The aerodynamics are not very different or special because of the profile, not that I noticed something different what deep wheels normally do, like just giving aero advantages. It needs more testing and on different terrains I guess. First impression is good!
Another great video Grant. I would buy these in a heartbeat if the inner rim width was 23-24 mm. Of all the wavy wheels I've seen, the shape and profile of these waves looks by far the best to me
Ive ridden both the CS and SS and find myself going to the SS more often than not. They are rapid on the decents, pick uo speed so quick. Ive won 2 divison races on these wheels one being a flat stage finish and the other being a hilly stage.i have them on a falath Evo at 65psi and the bike is silky smooth.
Thoughts on how these wheels compare to the Light Bicycle Turbo rims? They have a constant depth but parts of the rim are narrower to improve the aerodynamics. Also is there a ride review of the Seka coming?
My Princeton Carbon wheels are much more stable in the wind than my Roval CLX. Say what you want about waves being a gimmick but that’s after many back to back rides in windy conditions. Not saying one is better than the other , but for sure the princetons get pushed around less when a side wind decides to come at you.
Wavy profile in theory should improve performance but its probably not enough to say wow. Look at bird wings like owls or windmill blades - wavy/serrated. Its not a new idea. I tested the waters of buying a set of direct from China wheels to see how the experience goes. Getting through customs in US and what the final cost will be is still a work in progress.
Hi Could you recommend any wheels with carbon rims (40-45mm deep) at an affordable price? I'm looking for something with dt swiss 240 hubs and spokes that I can replace/repair in a regular shop. And maybe something not super light because my weight is 80kg
FFWD on sale. I think the $200 premium for DT hubs is overpriced. The ratchet design that DT is know for is now used by most brands in-house design for much less.
Grade 2 synthetic grease in the freehub mechanism makes for very, very silent freewheeling... range of temperature I ride in: from slightly above 0°C to 30+°C, no pawls engagement problems at the lower end of the spectrum so would probably work in colder temps but I live in Canada and snow happens then!
@@thijsbesselinkThe main brands have great Quality Control - we have no idea what that is like with these wheels! Its just my humble opinion but I wouldn't like to risk them or things like carbon handlebars etc. I prefer the peace of mind of main brands wheels etc for a little bit more cash.
What a gimmick! It has already been proven time and time again that weavy patterns are just pure gimmicks. They are marketed as a mean to counter crosswind, not aerodynamics. But wheels like Princeton and even Zipp 353/454 are known to be terrible at crosswinds. Those who claim that they are good in crosswinds have probably never experienced a real one. This design is by no mean more aerodynamic. Edit : ive actually tried the Elite Drive 50 and its thrash
What about the DT Swiss ARC lineup? I've heard a customer told me the 50 mm version is stable in crosswinds compared to a generic 50 mm counterpart. I personally would want to run 40 front 50 rear on a rim design with unknown crosswind stability.
@@sbccbc7471 Ive ridden the ARC 1100 50 , and its one of the most amazing wheel ive ever used. TBH if DT swiss updates their lineup with wider internal/externals to compliment wider tires, i would have stuck to them. Now days, most newer wheels have wider width so when you run 28c-30c, its great.
@@guantisengkun4342 I'm still on 25 mm (started with 23 mm) and I currently have no need to go wider, so the ARC 1400 DICUT 50 Disc is my expensive go-to choice. I don't need anything more expensive than this pair.
@GCPerformance18 i know. I already ride the new version of Uni rims 23 internal/32 external (old one used in drive series) with carbon spokes and elite hubs. Ordered straight from yuanan factory. And love those wheels. Probably next generation of drives will be build on those rims

The wave design is clearly a gimmick except for the placebo effect, perhaps you save 0.1 W at 70 kph. But if one likes it, go ahead and buy it.
@@hansschotterradler3772 has there been testing to show an aero gain?
Those wheels on that Seka frame are 🔥🔥🔥
Noticed that too, hot!
Yes snd they ride amazing too!!
Sweet
Perfect. I have been asking myself this question, while also looking at the latest offer on these wheels.
Yea, I hope you do! They are pretty sweet.
Nice set of wheels and that free hub sounds phenomenal! Great video
Thanks! It does sound good

Agree that 23-24mm hooked internal width is where it’s going.
Yea seems like that’s the sweet spot

I think that is a really good point and for sure, there are advantages and disadvantages to everything.
Remake of their BWS wheels. Which I have been running for the past 6 years on the gravel bike.
21mm ID tho. They should make it 23 min

Are dt-swiss ratchetes compatible with This wheelset?
How do the wheels behave in gusts of wind? Are they stable or not?
Yea very stable. I mean obviously don’t go riding in massive gusts. But the wheeels are very stable
@@GCPerformance18 Thanks
Elite helix or princeton carbonworks?
thats a tough one, if money is the reason, go elite, if money is no option go pricneton

Don’t have a link but just google mitutoyo caliper. And it will pop up. They are expensive
Do they come with the external lock rings?
They do not

No it is, check it out now
Yea I just checked. It’s doing it
Nice wheelset, how do they ride?
Will ride this weekend. But around the block and up and down the alley they are really smooth with the tires I chose and also exceptionally responsive

How do I buy Seka frame, I'm from UK
It seems it’s impossible lol. I am getting this message a lot
Looks like the wheels ship from overseas 🤔
yes they do
Some may beg to differ on the definition of BF 😂
21mm internal are a thing of the past IMO… in these day and age, it should have at least a 23-24mm ID…
yea you are right, 23-24mm would be better for tires
Warranty? no one ever talks about that.
3 year warranty

Personally I haven’t purchased elite wheels because the freehub is way too loud. 1449 grams is acceptable.

The hub sounds less loud than a dt240 although the inner design of the elite wheels hubs are copied from dt swiss 240.
These are pretty standard for the industry. I would say more on the quieter side compared to the market

great

Why pay tripple the price, for the same thing? The pure Rim ist pbly made in the same freakin factory.....
Well, that is just your opinion man👍🏻
