- Concord grapes aren't always easy to find, but if you have an old farm or see them at a farmer's market, you will love making grape juice. This is not just a kid's drink; homemade juice has so much flavor and will be amazing during the winter when you open a jar of the concentrate!

INGREDIENTS
4 qt stemmed grapes, washed
2 qt water, separated
1 1/2 cups sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Place the 4 quarts of grapes in an 8-quart stockpot on the stove and pour in 1 quart of water. Bring the grapes and water to a boil then turn down to medium-high heat and cook for approximately 20 minutes. When the grapes have cooked down into what looks like all liquid, it is ready to strain. Remove from the heat and allow to cool until are able to handle, about 1 hour.
Pour the cooked-down grapes into a heavy-duty cloth bag. The bag should be sitting in a bowl to catch all the juice.
Start squeezing and twisting the bag to bring out as much juice as possible. The debris left in the bag should be dry.
To the juice, add 1 1/2 cups of sugar and an additional 1 quart of water. Stir and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil until the sugar is dissolved, 5 minutes.
Pour into quart jars, leaving 1/4-inch of headspace. Wipe the jar rims with a clean cloth and fit with lids and rings prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place the jars in a water bath for 5 minutes to process, adjusting for altitude following the USDA guidelines (see chart in post for elevation adjustments: www.wyseguide.....
Once processed, remove jars from the water bath and let sit 12-24 hours. Remove the rings and check the seal. Store at room temperature for up to 1 year.
To prepare the juice to drink, use 1/3 concentrate to 2/3 water or other liquid.

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do.
You can print the recipe here: www.wyseguide.com/canned-grape-juice-concentrate/
My mom's old house use to have grape vines and she would make homemade juice and jelly when I was a kid. After years of not having the grapes anymore, my brother now owns that old house and the vines are still there. She just called me last week to let me know she had been grape picking and was going to can up a few gallons of juice. I can't wait to go back home to visit and get my hands on some.
Thank you! I’ve made 3 batches of grape jelly and still had tons of pressed grapes left. You make being stuck in the kitchen canning so much fun!
I love your generational references with such love ❤! I sadly grew up several states away from my grandparents because my daddy is a preacher. We bought a home that has a 96 foot long well-established grapevine. I have been a house plant ALL my life and I will turn 61 in September 2024. This year I took an interest in pur garden and grapevine. I spent HOURS weeding it between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. with a headlamp 😂! I spent hours collecting Japanese beetles 🪲 😡! Then two months ago I CRIED when we were hit by a 20 minute hail storm with up to 1½ inch hail. Everything was devastated-garden and grapevine 😢! I am thrilled today to report after a lot of prayers and babying both there are tomatoes, cantaloupe and ripe grapes 🍇!! Thank you for the great trip down memory lane and a helpful video on how simple doing the grape juice is to do!! ❤
I hope my grandson remembers me like you do your grandma after I pass on.
It’s a beautiful thing.
Squeezing it looks so therapeutic. Lol
Cleaning as you go is the best.
I am so glad I found your video because I just have so much concord grapes in my backyard. Thank you so much for posting and sharing! God bless!
Awesome. Luv the nostalgia of the old jar holders and lifters.
Love homemade grape 🍇 juice.
I might try this. When grapes are gone from my diet in winter, it shows in how I look and feel.
I am so thankful for this! Thank you for sharing! We have had a grapevine that no one would pull the grapes off at the end of our street. I am now gonna ask if the new owners if I can have them. And give them some juice after I’m done! ❤❤ I love old family recipes!
I haven't made grape juice but I've made strawberry lemonade concentrate. The first year my daughter drank every jar in one weekend. And my nephew drank the cherry juice. They loved it. Was a little work but so good in the winter.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS PROCESS WITH US, I ALSO GREW UP WITH A GRAPE VINE IN THE BACK YARD IN THE 70S AND IT WAS SUCH A NATURAL TREAT YEAR AFTER YEAR 🙏🏽👍🏾
I'm so making this when the grapes are in season here.
Yesterday we picked a bushel of grapes, now today we are going to make juice. Thanks for the video.
I am so grateful to see this video. I just was gifted some purple grapes and was unsure of how to process them. Yesterday I followed your recipe and the result was beautiful. You rock, Kaleb!
I just want to say how beautiful your energy is, your passion and love for what your are doing is a breath of fresh air.. keep it up 😊
I did this last year. My daughter has a grape vine It is loaded. Making the juice was easy but drinking it was even better. I picked the grapes and froze them, then made the juice, When I had the time YUMMMMM
I froze our harvest this year as well. We were going on vacation and the grapes were so ready to be cut off the vines. I just cut them and packed them dry on the vines in freezer ziplock bags. I was concerned the grapes might burst but they didn't and they're just as juicy as fresh picked.
Can't wait to try this out. I have grapes and blueberries in the freezer from the fall.
Try making this WITHOUT added the water. Amazing result !!!!!
Grape jelly, grape juice, can’t go wrong💜
The best grape juice I ever had was in south India. It had the whole grape 🍇 with skin and seeds In it. It was sooooo good. I’ve made it at home like that ! ❤
Yes! I miss making my own grape juice. So wonderful. Such a great job. Thank you.
I am about to harvest my first white grapes and I am going to try this. Grape juice is medicinal drink it when you feel a cold coming.
Me too the first year of making juice rather then wine
My mother-in- law used to put whole grapes in ball jars, add some sugar and pour boiling water over them and they would seal themselves without water bathing. She learned from Amish I think because they lived in Ohio. I’ve never tasted anything so real and delicious.
Just how much sugar?
The seeds didn’t make it bitter?
@@esericaeprobably used a colliander to separate the juice from the skins and seeds. My mom learned to make it that way.
@esericae some are very sweet 😋
@@JS-jh4cyit’s usually 2 cups of grapes to a quart jar with 1/4-1/2 cup sugar. Top of the jar to 1/4” below the lid and then you water bath can them for about 20-30 minutes.
I love this kind of recipe, I will be making this concentrate soon, thank you Kaleb for sharing.
My mom usedto make juice and jelly when we were kids. Gonna give this a try!!
Omg the color of the juice is amazing!💜👍
Doing this Fall from Local Grower Canada... Pail of Grape Juice already pasteurized... NERVOUS... have never canned before... but Remember how good Concord grape juice is with a Splash of Gingerale!!! THE BEST
I’d move from Arizona to Michigan to be your best friend. I’d love gifts like that!
Brilliant and fun presentation. 😊Thank you. I will try your recipe. Still have a lot of frozen green grapes.
How much water do we start with and how long to boil it
I love the way you explain everything I will be making this thanks
I love this so much! We got a bumper crop of concord grapes this year here in Minnesota. I usually can jelly but this year I'm going to do some concentrate as well. We typically have a grape juice and sprite mix for our goblets on Thanksgiving and Christmas so this year it will be our home grown juice! Thanks!
I trained my concord grapes into my apple tree, now I have them hanging all over under the tree. They are still green, but it's going to be a good year.
Love this video.. I've been canning for 40-plus years I'm totally a rebel canner so me having a rule is big but NEVER NEVER TIP JARS!!! If there was a hairline fracture that jar will explode in your hand siphoning occurs or just the heats difference from hot to cold that's the time they're going to explode if you tip it the glass is going to your face ask me how I know haven't done it in 20 plus years now... There is a reason why you take them straight up
Making this today!!! Super excited
Hi, great video. I tried this for the first time but only got 3 & 1/4 quarts of juice. Rather than cook more grapes can I adjust the amount of sugar and water? Let me know ASAP. Thanks in advance, Gary
SE, picked muscadine ( free ...at a friend's growing all over), so this was a great video to make juice
Going to do this for sure!!yumm.
I love this recipe and we are shopping for a stock pot. Can you tell me what size you use for canning and maybe brand?
Thank you chef wyse. I will try this.
Made this last year. Fantastic! Making more tomorrow. Thanks so much!
did you need to get the bubbles out before pitting the lids/bands on? Wasa there a rack on the bottom of the canner when you put the jars in the canner?
Th al you for this video. I’m new to canning and I was wondering
- how long do you water bath?
- is there a proportion grapes/sugar that you follow?
Thanks.
That Gorgeous Pumpkin under your Window …. 🎃 🥰❤️🙏🍇🙏🍇🙏🍇
Oh c'mon utube why did I just found u? Thank u for the tips on canning. And I love ur kitchen.
Beautiful ruby color.
Awesome 👌, how long do you boil the jars?
YOU GO GIRL! Nice juice from grape and sediment retrieval!
Paint strainer bag works great
For the recipe it says 4 qts of grapes and I was wondering if a "quart" refers to the liquid wait of all the grapes or does quart refer to a 1.25-1.5 lbs per fruit conversion table? Kinda like a bushel of grapes equaling 50 lbs.
Do you have to add sugar? Without sugar can it still be a concentrate?
I love that you give credit to you grandma...what about grandpa?
Searching for Concord Grapes 🍇🙏❤️
Made it and WOW 🎉🎉🎉🎉
So how many cups of picked n washed grapes to water to sugar.
Hi, how long does the juice last ?
I love your stove what is the name of it I would love to get one if they made it into electric
Can you use muscadine grapes to make the juice?
You should try grape pie. I grew up with them 😋
When i make juice i use a .5 micron bag that is sold to use to filter home made BIO DIESEL . it has a metal ring around the top that is sewn in and a cloth hanging strap. i hang the bag over the sink above a stainless steel coffee pot (the really tall Bunn type with the flipper dispenser . i can place a jar of this filtered juice in the refrigerator for 2 weeks and find ZERO SEDIMENT !
in 1985 (im an old man married to steffy) we gave out quart jars of home canned ELDERBERRY, WILD CHERRY, MUSKADINE , AND BLACKBERRY JELLY, 1 quart of each to everyone on our Christmas list!!!
Wyse Guide, your grand mother was younger than my mom. my great grandmother WOULD NOT go into a room in a house that had a TV in it. i remember her making me CHOCOLATE GRAVY to pour over bread for breakfast on her WOOD COOK STOVE!! she died of old age in 1970!!
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING PEOPLE HOW EASY IT IS TO HOME CAN STUFF!
Have you ever made it with white grapes ?
I planted a grape plant about 5 years ago and just let it go. My one grape vine had so many grapes. I had so many grapes I ended up with the large pot you have full of concentrated juice, no room for sugar or water. I'm cooking it down some more to get some room.
I cut it back to about a quarter of what it was as more is just unmanageable for me. I'll be keeping it cut back from now on. Have yet to taste whether the juice is any good or not.
Can I use monk fruit to sweeten it instead of sugar?
I love it. Thank you so much. Next year for sure!
Absolutely delicious and yummy thanks for sharing 👍🌹❤️
How long do u have to wait after the water bath to drink it
How long does it last expired? After made? 3 week?
great video, thank you for making this.
Tyvm for a professional video.... Subscribed now.
Love your videos. Love the grape juice.
I have a home with a bunch of cherry trees. Would this be doable with cherries?
Sweet or pie cherries? Sour pie cherries are the best jam!!! Cherry juice is great for gout, syrups, etc.
How many pounds of grape and how much water did you use
You could use some Pinot noir grapes from Oregon for your juice. No added sugar would be needed for that.
How many pounds of grapes 🍇 for the cup and a half of sugar?
They also sometime used just the rings from the leds
How about a cotton pillowcase??
Have you ever made concentrate orange juice? What about 2 fruits together like Blueberry/Pomegranate?
Yummy!
Wow Look So Delicious
Thank you thank you
Is there a reason you are not using a food mill?
Cheers 🍷
One of THE most important things about this grape juice (and all juices made from these these deep red and purple types of fruit: the very HIGH nutrient profile! I mean, why do or would we even bother going to the work to make this? It's not just for show after all? (and I don't agree that the mash shown after the first cooking step looks "grosse" ... who says that about such precious food that's in process from the way our Great Mother provides it?
Lovely simple clear recipe.
can you please give metric recipe as well.. what is a quart ?
Yummmmmy
Can cotton bags be reused? Or nah? 🍻 Cheers
Why the boil process and not just clean and press them? I'm a bit ignorant on why..
It allows the fibers to open up and release more of the juice. It also greatly reduses the amount of force needed to get the juice out.
True, look up benefits of grape juice.
You are awesome!!!
Can one use honey instead of sugar perhaps?
Yes! but it may be too sweet and more expensive.....
Why did you put the jar back in the boiling water?
You are amazing! How do you store them? Do you put them in refrigerator? And how long they last?
You can check description for storage instructions. He has listed the details in there.
Wow, easy...darn. i wanted to see the grape hands
oooo what about wine? :-)
How many pounds of grapes did you use?
Can I do this w/any other grape, or does it have to be Concord? I live in the central valley in CA, and I have not seen Concord grapes in years!
You can use any type. I'm doing green table grapes right now. This juice will go with my watermelon lemonade concentrate for winter drinking pleasure.
Thankyou for the inspiration!!!❤
Yum yum
buonissimo
