If it has an optical drive then it will need an updated PlayStation core to use it. Has Robert Peip added USB CD-ROM support?
I could be totally wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Linux/ARM side of the DE10's SoC handles all the CD image stuff. I don't see why Linux couldn't just mount the disc and read directly off it but I know nothing about how it passes through to the core. I think it would be more of a MiSTer Main level support thing than a CD-ROM driver -- most drives now should have generic Linux drivers available.
That sounds like a great series to have saying "There's a MiSTer inside my ......" PCN. Would live to see a Neo-Geo version of it bro. 8^)

Makes me glad I didn't get the other Taki FPGA. This one looks a lot better. I just hope there's a way to use the Super GB 2 on it
PSX controllers and memory cards use the same memory bus, so it's always a shame to see PSX SNAC adaptors that don't support OG memory cards (which is almost all of them). Anyway, to me, it's the PSX core which is the crown jewel of MiSTerFPGA - and using controllers like Namco's NeG-Con and Gun-Con (the best home light gun ever made?) are a big part of that. It's funny - I can see myself buying one of everything Taki puts out because frankly everything is ultra desirable.

I already beat Taki Udon to building a MiSTerStation (MiSTer in a PS1 shell with working controllers and memory cards using the SNAC adapter from RetroCastle)
And yours is dope too.
Interesting but also concerning as the PSX Core technically isn't finished, there are quite a lot of bugs and non working games, more so than the best software emulators. I personally wouldn't put out a product like this until it can actually replace a PS1.
@@Reprogrammed_By_SEGA genuinely curious as to the last time you’ve read up on the psx core? I didn’t think there’s a single incompatible ps1 game on the MiSTer - I haven’t encountered one anyway. The last list I can find on forums is from 2022. The PSX core is actually the most feature rich core on the MiSTer, at least according to the wiki. Bugs are also non existent in my experience. I do play a lot of ps1 on the miSTer but I’m no professional tester.
@@RadDadio look at the github rather than just going by feelings. That is not all documented problems either. The issues can be attributed to MiSTer limitations and lack of CD controller implementation.

Can you list some of the incompatible games so I can try them out?

Definitely. It is still a MiSTer system, just in a PS1 style case and with built in card reader and PS control ports.

Unknown but unlikely. Price point would be to low to feature one. That's my guess anyway.

Definitely looks dope, but not for me. The only console I can see myself buying in the future is the Switch successor.
Will be snapped up by scalpers to resell. Don't care for the PS5 of series x myself. Not my kind of gaming platforms. Switch is the only console I'm interested in these days.
