Stephen is definitely right about the jokes/songs thing. I think we like jokes because they surprise us, but we like songs because they're often like old friends that bring back familiar memories and feelings...

Jokes build up tension/discontinuity and then release it, so once you know how the premise 'ends up' it doesn't have the same effect.
Music stirs up emotions and feeling feelings never gets old.

The key to jokes is a random and unexpected twist of some sort.
Several years ago, there was a study analyzing the top pop songs and one of the common markers was "predictability" and repetition so that people would feel familiar with it and be able to easily sing along.

Sketch comedy connection to Godspell! Many members of Toronto Second City, SCTV, and SNL starred in a famous Toronto production of Godspell that ran for ages, including Andrea Martin, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Martin Short and Gilda Radner. The musical director was Paul Schaffer. This was just before Toronto Second City was founded. Victor Garber originally played Jesus. He was featured in the last few episodes of Schitt’s Creek as Moira’s costar on the soap opera.

I have to take exception with the observation about people not wanting to hear the same comedy routines. When Monty Python reunited and toured, they did all their most popular sketches, like the Dead Parrot, Four Yorkshiremen, etc., and they realized the audience members were reciting the sketches along with them, and loving it. And look how often Abbot and Costello did Who's On First and it never got old. Of course, for that to happen, a comedian or a troupe has to have been around and popular for ages.

Worf is _stoic_ and _serious._ But I found out, first hand, at StarFest '92, Michael Dorn is Mr. Personality. Accordingly, there's an abundance of _Star Trek_ bloopers that have Worf suddenly giggling.

I don’t know if that’s mostly her or. Mostly Ntwrk, but it is what it is. What I did is that you respect her sense of humor so deeply. My profile pic is my wife but I am a 52-year-old man who loves intellectual comedy, and I’ve always dug you Stephen Colbert, and EV is amazing to me. She is supportive, without being A subjugate. She doesn’t say that much, but one can readily see how smart and critical she is, and I too, felt The gold standard stamp when EV would laugh. I loved so much how I agreed with her evaluation’s. It was so cool to get to know your spouse just a little bit, because I am a believer in relationships, and I believe that one’s spouse is a great a valuator of them, and a wonderful lens through which to see a person. Peoples spouses are a significant choice, and it reveals a lot about a person. Often, And I think most importantly, a spouse is at least a little different, and reflects an alternate part of one’s thinking.

Is that what all of us need to get over the pandemic - an audience? I mean, as a non-performer, I do wish there was a live band playing my theme song whenever I enter a room, but maybe I need applause to go along with it my amusing quips as I exchange gibes with my dog in my underwear.
For clarity, I’m wearing my underwear, not the dog.

The captions call Ritchie Valens' La Bamba "Tennessee Whiskey". I just listened to that and had to come to the conclusion that whoever was doing the closed captioning needs to learn music.
