Ever notice how Mulaney can say the most bizarre and things in a matter of fact way, and then afterwards you think that YOU’RE weird for thinking that’s weird.
YES WHAT THE HECK
Right?!?
me when he pronounces nightmare wrong
@@aido6460 as someone who came from southern michigan? yeah probs lmao
The man is a genius.
Stephen looks like he's questioning John's sanity the whole time
he is, but in a very loving, hey , if the tests come back positive bud, we are gonna be down for taking care of you LOL!!! It will allllll beeee okaaaaayyyyy....pat pat pat.. I think Stephen is more mesmerized by John's incredibly animated and colorful face, you really dont look away when the dude's talking....It is serious art at its most unique! I Love! John M passionately, his face, idk, DELIGHTS ME? that the right phrase?? Yes, it feels right, I think it needs to stay. A thank you has got to go out to this guy's brain. It brings us so many chances to laugh til we are g.d. near injured!! And yes!! We need that now! Ill go now, with a tip of my hat to this young genius. Don't wear hats, but it'd be tipped for John, were there hats. I LOVE YOU MAN!!!! 😂 Please always be ...somewhere. xxooo!!!!
That look he pulled when he said "...sure" made me laugh
Aren’t we all?
@@jadeallisonhollingsworth Lol legit what I was going to say
Stephen over the years have seem to forgotten what a comedy skit is.
“Not the same as a goose, but you expect more of a swan because it’s more cosmopolitan” - that killed me
Geese are to swans as rats are to squirrels. :)
Crying at that line.
That reminded me of Craig from Parks & Rec 😂
"It started with a couple that didn't look contemporary."
John always feels like that John Fraser movie "Blast from the past", where the main character grew up in a bunker, concealed from the outside world and then re-enters modern times, but with the pure innocence of a gentleman from the early 60ies.
P
WHY IS NOBODY ELSE LAUGHING AT THE IMAGE OF JOHN SPRINTING TOWARDS GEESE WITH A 3 FOOT FRENCH BULLDOG RUNNING AT HIS SIDE
the image of john running alone is hilarious enough but GEESE??? absolutely golden
Bro my legs are 3 feet long that dog is like 1
Who says we're not? Calm down, for feck's sake.
Hellwyck your the only one that isn’t calm lol. Just chill
Possibly bc the story was more about how he was becoming unhinged on the verge of a breakdown lol
I LOVE the way this man speaks. His way of constructing a sentence makes him probably my favorite person to listen to. I’d love to have a conversation with him.
Gia Williams He was an English major
He should actually be the new host of prairie home companion
Gia Williams I'd be happy to host a dinner party, we could sit and eat and talk all night!
@@stephaniegenova5469
I always think that, also with Trevor Noah - I'd just love to have conversations with certain people. I'd love to come! I'm Scottish in the US. :)
Perhaps this is how people should make new friends these days!
He paid $120,000 for an English degree. I'd hope so hahaha
Stephen: do you have kids?
John, immediately: *no I have a dog though*
well i mean this is staged
Same thing
He would be a funny prankster Dad!
No, he has Pete and Petunia
he looked so ready to talk about petunia too lmao
"and also I didn't want to say out loud what my plan was, in case the ghosts were listening"! LMAOOOOO!
I fucking lost it!
That's just common sense... :)
I was looking for this comment! I lost it cuz I was kinda thinking about the same movie situation 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He and I have basically the same thought process
That's exactly what I do XD
Wow I didn't know he had so much anxiety.
I bet he gets nervous on airplanes.
Probably. He should tell his doctor. See if he can get Xanax or something.
But make an appointment thats not so suspicious...say frequent urination?
krazyperson97 hopefully he knows how many times is too much to say
Amazin Trinity if he doesn't know, though, I hope he thinks to refuse any unneeded tests

Yes 🤣🤣🤣
Thank u for that

*"Was it really a ghost you saw, mother? Or was it just me all along?"*
*"so that's why you don't give to charity. i'm kidding."*
“LETS NOT TALK ABOUT PENELOPE. *OR WHATEVER HER NAME WAS”*
I loved that line 😂 it made me laugh so hard
Whenever John Mulaney talks about his childhood, it startles me that he’s from the 90’s. I always assume he’s a classy performer from the 1950’s.
“You have the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair”
Pretty sure John Mulaney was John Mulaney in his past life..
Lmaooo xD
That is a hilarious comment!
Mulaney is just immortal in general. Right when he got use to the 50s, he decided "yeah, this is nice." And now, he has decided to be a 50s man for the rest of his life.
Lol wut😂
This is the observation I never knew I needed 👾❤🤯
I need footage of Anna calling John a "city boy"
MissFlauschig fhdhshshd i love your profile pic!!!
Idk if it’s just me but I heard him saying that and imagined his wife with like a southern accent
Me, a girl named Anna: *turns to John*
CITY BOY
Hopetown omg your pfp is gossip by sws!
i just need footage of anna absolutely roasting the shit outta john
He’s looks like the living embodiment of a 20’s radio show host
Splurgabonn Nephlhogg Shit he does
Brian fuck you
Splurgabonn Nephlhogg well he is
He sounds like the living embodiment of a 20’s radio show host.
He looks like he’s about to say “welcome to the twilight zone”
"I had a bit of a nervous breakdown while I was at the farm"
"Oh okay"
Me at my next therapy appointment
Poor guy. Bet he gets nervous on planes.
A real and dry conversation. I loved this. He is a very accomplished improv comedian and those who see him live are lucky. I wish there were more actual conversations like this and less rushed celebrity promotional bits that feel like a waste of time.
Stephen let him talk and it was great!
reminds me of Ferguson, but less crazy
💗💗✌
@@xxxpyrosxxx I just spent the whole day rewatching episodes from Ferguson's show and I don't regret a thing lol. There's no one quite like him

kitkatratat very well placed, even for an whole ass like me... :-)
he needs to be a guest on bfu
I laughed so hard at this omg😂
Now I want him to be in a video with Ryan and Shane.
His was the funniest live show I’ve ever seen. My abs were sore the next day from laughing so hard. And he answered questions and chatted with the audience after!
maremacd is it available on UA-cam
I got to see his Kid Gorgeous tour a couple weeks ago and I'm STILL laughing at it lol
I’m going to see it this weekend in Philly. I’m so excited!
So lucky! I wanted to go extremely badly but the closest location to me at the time had tickets starting at like $75 since it was a smallish venue. I couldn’t swing that at the time lol
I got to see him perform in Winnipeg and he had some jokes related to the city which was amazing
John Mulaney is an interviewer's dream. He's a storyteller, hilarious, quirky, intelligent with a timeless melange of a modern Mid-Atlantic accent or Announcer voice.
And an asian American girl too
@@wolfden6135 woman* excuse you. Respect her 😤
he and david spade are my favorite interviews to watch
"John Mulaney Has A Picture Of A Ghost, Maybe" is a joke all by itself
the way Mulaney leans in whenever he's trying to get a proper rise out of Colbert is adorable, it feels very organic and friendly
The chemistry is weird so I created a theory. John mulaney is actually sipping Stephen Colbert's coffee. Resentment ensues. ☕😒
JD F excellent 😂 we all need more laughs
Two repressed Roman Catholics hoping they don’t sin in the others presence.
JD F omg! I thought the exact same thing for a while😅😂😂
I fucking died omg
John Mulaney is one of my favorite human beings --- funny, smart, progressive, handsome, kind, determined to be polite: the total package.
PhillyFrank1 not to mention his feminine hips
His wife practically won the lottery he seems to love her a fuck ton too it's perfect
Bad case of TDS though
@Tim Yac "Total dissolved solids (TDS) is a measure of the dissolved combined content of all inorganic and organic substances present in a liquid in molecular, ionized, or micro-granular (colloidal sol) suspended form. ... More exotic and harmful elements of TDS are pesticides arising from surface runoff." Weird that you can tell that from watching this but I guess everyone has their talent...
And a good conversationalist too!
that entrance into the handshake at the beginning was hanging so precariously onto being very awkward it's almost impressive. Notice the flash of fear in John's eyes - it really drives it home.
Riight
“You expect more of a swan because it’s more cosmopolitan” 🤣his speech pattern is my favorite
THE WAY HE SMILES WHEN HE MENTIONS HIS WIFE ANNA AT 3:15 AWWWWW THAT IS PRECIOUS
I wanna see him do a musical revue with Megan Mullally, just so I can see the poster for 'Mulaney and Mullally'.
New Message you're all over UA-cam's comments. Do you ever sleep?
I do sleep! That's what weekends are for.
New Message fair point
@@NewMessage s'ok, we all like you here. Hi again 👋🖐✋
OMG i would pay so much to see megan and john in the same room
seems like Stephen doesn’t really appreciate John’s jokes as much as the audience
Honestly i prefer the gentle smile and chuckle to Jimmy Fallons hee haws at every sentence
He seems to be lowkey jealous because 'competition'.
@@musinghamlet8917 nonsense. They are good friends that's why he keeps inviting him back.
@@kitchenkut or it could be the studios and managers, hes not in charge of most of his show.
He built an entire career out of remaining straight-faced. He doesn't usually laugh much.
I won't say the name of my brand, it is just an iPhone
Not even close to how he said it but cool... Haha
“I won’t say what brand of phone, but it’s an iPhone” is the actual quote but I guess you got close enough.
It isn't in quotes, and even if it were it would still count as paraphrasing.
I am obsessed with this guy since I firts watch his stand up comedy
the funniest part is that the school knowing john had fainted a previous two times, made him sit through it again
Is this Barry Allen's doppelganger?
vinisr12 ikr
Run Barry!
You know that John Mulaney has been a big famous comedian before the CW flash right?
Ryan Brooks a doppelganger isn't someone who came after the person that's referenced. They're just someone who looks eerily alike, so whether he was a comedian before The Flash or not, it doesn't matter.
Time Remnant
I was attacked by a goose while gathering eggs at a friends place. Bloody big strong gander had me trapped and I had to leap into rhododendron bushes trying to escape. It was a crap strategy because it followed me - pecking full force and screeching. I ended up covered in crap with a broken finger and a severely bruised thigh muscle, couldn't walk for two days. That was bad enough. But when I got into work, after two days off, I found out that my manager had taken *great* delight in telling everyone that I was off work because I had been badly goosed in the rhododendrons. Three more years I worked in that place, and they never let me forget it. It was how I was introduced to every new hire.
That's absolutely horrible.
I'm sorry that happened to you
Ahh that's very kind of you, but it was too many years ago to comfortably count. And honestly, on reflection it was kind of hilarious. It's one of my Nieces favourite "My Aunt Has Always Been Crazy' stories. I have many, many, more comical misadventures (including having my shorts & underwear wash out to sea when I went for a wee behind a rock on a deserted beach). The main thing everyone should take away from it is ..... never, *ever* trust a goose!!
But hugs to ya for your kind thought xxxx
This made me laugh. My sttongest, toughest friend is horrified by geese, due to a goose fucking up he received as a 9 or 10 year old. Geese are dicks.
Isn't it though!
In my case they were all located around the upper thighs and buttocks.
The way he said “You know it’s a ghost!” killed me 😂
I love how John, despite his age, always knows old times references. Like that Mel Torme-line
no one appreciated it!!
"What a life that I will collapse for you if you cheer loud enough."
Is anyone else rather struck at the fact that the audience chose _that particular moment_ to start cheering?
7:25
This reminds me at my elementary school there was a Janitor, named Bob, who accidentally spilled some chemicals that some how knocked him out, I think bleach and rubbing alcohol, and his head fell in the toilet and he drowned. Anyways, this school is like 104 years old, its pretty old, and we kinda start a religion based around this guy, called "Bloody Bob." The main symbol was the holy plunger -- a plunger with wings. We would go to worship on Saturdays and to get initiated you had to have toilet water poured on your head. We ourselves must always call him Bloody Bob, but the Awaihas, the leaders, could simply call Him "Bob." There was also a dance we would do, etc, etc.
Anyways, so I thought this cult was not that wide spread, I had seen that someone had drawn the holy plunger on a bathroom stall once and thought it was cool, but then I started seeing graffiti of "Bloody Bob" or "The Holy Plunger" all over my town. It was weird. Even older people, in middle and some in high school were in this thing. It was quite strange.
Colbert doesn't get John's humor. I find him hilarious!
Is Stephen Colbert capable of carrying on a conversation without it dying?
I think some people interpreted this as coldness from Stephen towards John, but I really like how he doesn't immediately laugh whenever John makes a joke. Like, if he didn't find it funny, he didn't laugh. That's how things should be, I think. It can be a little awkward, but it forces people to hone their humor or deal with certain people having different senses of humor. I like it a lot.
John: "I travel sometimes"
Me: "Delta Airlines" playing in head.
We're delta airlines, and life is a fucking nightmare
He's adorable 😍
I love steven as a host...he really gets in the guests mood and really listens. The interview can get to a comforting intellectual level.
The fact that John chose the special name based on what made his wife laugh is so sweet.
This will forever be my favourite clip of John Mulaney with Stephen Colbert.
"I'll collapse if you cheer loud enough" is a big mood.
the most charming, funniest human being on the face of the planet. A true delight to have him here among us.
Thank you for the full video
I love his thought process
I wonder how Stephen REALLY feels about John Mulaney.
He obviously isn't very fond of him.
why do you say that?
yeah why do you say that?
@@edabakb I dont know why, but I also feel like Stephen isn't very fond of John.
leesway I think Stephen doesn’t like that John is controlling the conversation and getting all the attention 😂 John seems super overbearing. I do love him though
Maybe the ghost he saw was some little victorian girl that his dad didn't murder
He has such mad grandpa energy for some reason
As someone with ADHD and Autism, John Mulaney’s voice is one of the only voices that is so clear and attention-grabbing that I can listen to it smoothly and watch it all the way through. His voice is very pleasant to hear and he’s very funny. My favorite comedian :)
I worked a show at the Midland once and it is 100% haunted. I saw John Mulaney there probably a week before this interview, love that he mentioned it and its ghost
I love how stephen has to get him back on track to promoting his own tv show
John: so I’m sitting there...
Me: BBQ SAUCE ON MY TIDDIES!!!!!
I REALLY enjoy John Mulaney's humour. It seems as though his wit is too quick for the audience sometimes. I can't wait to check out his Netflix animated show. Loved this interview!
Love John. lol also love how Stephen not-so-subtly equates an audience-based heckler with a ghost haunting the studio
That bit of Kid Charlemagne not being a good tour name is wicked smart. So underrated.
12:46 missed an opportunity to collapse.
If you haven't seen any of John Mulaney's stand up bits, you should check them out. This guy is hilarious. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. Cheers mates.

I'm loving John more and more every Time I see hum, he's so funny!
Love that Colbert knows when to just let a guest ramble. John Mulroney is so funny and his random stories are tv gold!
John Mulaney is good too.
John Mulaney is hilarious. He looks like someone from the 50s... and sounds like one too.
He Looks Like a young Mr. Rogers LOL
Fell in love with Mulaney just from his Colbert interviews now I look for his work.
John Mulaney has definitely seen a ghost with how much he brings it up
Oh my gosh, I love Kid Charlemagne!
How can I "like" this A LOT??!!

Johns laugh is legit the most adorable thing ever
Kid Charlemagne is one of my favorite Steely Dan songs.
"And also I didn't want to say too loud what my plan was in case the ghosts were listening" this always kills me. His fucking delivery gets me every time. Fucking hilarious, I love this guy.

The Midland in Kansas City has a bunch of crazy tunnels all throughout that venue. I loved playing there. Amazing venue.
It looks like he's talking to his son
I love how obvious it is that these two want to be friends but don’t know if the other one does 😂
He sort of sounds like a young Zap Brannigan
This is the best man ever. I just love Mulaney.
Passing out because people are looking at you rooting for you to pass out is the biggest Mood
Colbert is lame when comedians come on, as if he tries not to be entertained.
His interview with Wanda Sykes was killer. She drove the interview.
When Mulaney talks it's like gold just falling out of his mouth
It’s nice for Stephen to have the Mayor of Nothing on
Me, a musical theatre nerd reading, the title:
A ghost you say? A ghost maybe. She was just like a ghost to me
So... John Mulaney is the new green lantern.
I love him! Lol! In all seriousness, he is so anxious. It makes me feel like I'm not alone.
They have the same awkward energy and I love it
I’m addressing Christmas cards while watching this. And I’ve nearly ruined ten due to laughter.
I love how Colbert is just not having the ghost thing.
I love him so much 🤣🤣🤣🤣 his charisma!!!
"Those geese aren't messing around."
