Thank you for putting this together for the world to see. To me it brings both happy and sad tears. Happy, because it's my favorite place on earth. Sad tears because I will be 56 this January 2024. Not that my age would ever stop me but because I have scoliosis and I can't make it to the springs anymore. Thank you for this also because I never hiked up to fossil springs. Cheers to you Verde Hot Springs, may you be peaceful forever ☮️♾️

I’m so glad that we can take you along! Isn’t it funny how we have our favorite places, just a picture or a smell can transport right back to that spot. This is a beautiful area! I’m sorry you are no longer able to make it there in person. We are headed back to Arizona for the winter…. Any other spots we need to check out?

Wow! I noted you all making your way up that hill after you visit to the hot spring. looked like your Promaster had a little skip/jump/slip on that upward incline! How was that for you? bet it was kinda that uneasy feeling for ya-all. I have a 2021 Promaster hi top 136" that I camp it i would be TERRIFIED TO try what you did.... Im happy you got up safely. I wanted to ask the burning question now; have you ever pulled a trailer with your Promaster at anytime? If so what was the weight of your tow vehicle if I may ask. how did you feel during and after your time pulling... thank you both!

Ive been going to Childs Hot Springs (Verde Hot Springs) since I can remember. It's in my backyard basically. Please take care of this beautiful special place when you visit! You dont need 4x4 I took my minivan. The reason for the power lines is childs use to be a power plant. The hot spring was a resort built in 1920 and burnt down in 1962 and what remains is the foundation of the bath houses.. whatever you do dont bring children to the hot spring.. clothing is optional fyi especially at night... which is absolutely the best!!! Under the stars naked... it's amazing. Bring candles if you do go at night just remember you gotta walk back across the river and at night... burrrr...

    • @oneadVANtureatatime

Yes, we were uncomfortable having our dog there because of the steep unguarded drop down to the river. We always bring a bag to pick up garbage on our way out to help keep these free amazing springs open. What an incredible night sky! You have nerves of steel driving down that last stretch to the camping area! Nice job. Tonight we are at Meadow hot spring in Utah. Not sure if you have been to this one but it's also amazing but not a hidden gem like Verda. Thank you for watching and for the history information! 😀

Wow...I looked this place this up on u tube because I have fond memories of living there one summer in the late 70s, and now one can go places by others cameras...
My b.f. n I hitchhiked everywhere in those days so I don't even remember the dirt road (being a passenger in someone's car)..but I do remember the springs looking like they do here. We had made a campsite across the river and back then there Was some sort of parking area near the water because other campers were scattered about, and believe it or not, when it came time to go get food stamps ( our main life support), the social worker in cottonwood actually brought her coworker, with thier clipboards, right to the parking area where we met them and led them thru the brush to our 'campsite' which was not where we actually slept. Seeing these highheeled ladies actually approving this as our place of residence was pretty funny. I doubt they'd do that today.
But then, the bf, a Vietnam vet just returned from jungle combat fatigue...wanted to walk us down river to Camp Verde, using his mental radar. It was June. He estimated 10-20 miles as a crow flies..We walked along the river a few hours till it got too hot, and then he said, let's go that way, which he thought was the directest way to town. I was scared to leave the waters side but I was like 22 and I trusted his senses. We made it to a ranch before nightfall, and then to a store somewhere, I remember eating an icecream bar.. then got a ride to Cottonwood where he knew a lady who had a house and rented rooms to needy folks.
I didn't become a car driver for a few more years...
Now I have a van w high clearance, so thanks for showing the road situation.
I'm just soooooo happy to see it's still raw as it was back then. I was the healthiest I've ever been living along that river, and others in the area, as in those days, the term homeless wasnit used, because it was a pure choice to live by rivers and hotsprings, caves too!
Thanks again for the video, glad you guys live that way😍

+Common Sense this is true...BUT not that easy with the Promaster. You see the tire is commercial rated at 10 ply... it is thick! The problem being is re-inflating the tire. We have to go to a tire shop if we need air at 65psi in front and 80psi in back. We’ve yet to find any gas station that can match that psi and no room for a hurky portable air pump. When we had our Jeep Wrangler we aired down all the time and it worked great!
