One summer we backpacked 150 miles in the Trinity Alps Wilderness where we saw multiple rattlesnakes and we grew up in snake country so I am always on snake alert! Thankfully most of the time you can avoid them..
Loved the video. However, you do need to be there in the summer. June is the hottest month for Tombstone with an average high temperature of 93.5°, which ranks it as cooler than most places in Arizona. It also cools down nice at night.
Thank you! I don't do well in heat and 93 would be too hot 🔥 Unless there is a lake or river nearby. However, that does sound much nicer than Phoenix, AZ.
The Dragoons used to be a popular tripping place for hippies in the 70's and 80's. That was back before the ranches along Middlemarch Road were subdivided and the area became more populated. Too many ATVs these days. It is a beautiful range, though.
I can see it being popular back in the 70’s and 80’s. We didn't see to many ATV’s but I can see that being a problem here. We had a fantastic time on that hike. I did it 3 times😂
Thank you, Maitilda! We are the Mohawk family now. 😀 Although with the current snow on the ground I think Carrie wishes she had some of that hair back to keep her head warm. 😂
Rewatched today Jan 9th 2022. Currently at Gunsight Wash BLM just out of Why AZ. Going to spend another day or two here, then go hang out at Organ Pipe National Monument. I am certain I need a whole day to explore Ajo. Next on the Agenda Tombstone. Can’t thank you enough for your videos and travel info. BTW.... your three make Mohawk hairdo’s look great! The mohawk family. Lol. I like Roodle's the most. 😁 Great area. Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely want to check it out once I get out west. Looks like a good alternative to the throngs of people in Quartzsite. Lol.
Yes, definitely fewer people than Quartzsite! It's funny you mentioned that because I keep comparing these nice places to the crowds at Quartzsite myself!😂😂😂
Nice! We saw a fellow hunting pig there with a crossbow. He drew us in with his pig call...we thought there was a wounded bird or something. We all had a big laugh..he said we were the only thing he called in all day. 😂😂
Fun to pick out shapes of objects in the rocks! We need a truck camper tour? Which brings me to your next exploration vehicle 4x4? Van? Truck camper??????????????????
+Illini Trekker we really like our van! Having said that our new friends truck camper is really cool!!! We can now see why people choose to go that route! But our DREAM exploration vehicle is a Unimog or Earth Roamer (way out of our budget) but hey we can dream..... right!!!
Looks great. Places like that is why I keep looking at 4wd campers in some fashion. Saw a short Phoenix cruiser we liked and a company in Pa makes a true 4wd kit for the E350/450. And YES it looked like a snake 🐍. I immediately went and researched snake proof gaiters 😂😂 I don’t want to get a rattlesnake bite hiking. Stay safe ✌🏼
Go see Baja., drive to LaPaz and back...get to know the locals...see what they drive on those backroads. Its amazing where you can go with just a plain old high clearance truck. No 4wd needed.

@@oneadVANtureatatime very nice. Plenty of spots, but we still had a couple people camp within 30 or 40 yards from us which was unnecessary, but weather was great. Beautiful spot.
We just enjoyed your AZ video. Excellent presentation. Couple of questions: where exactly is the BLM spot where y'all camped? What drone are you using? What computer & editing equip?
Hi outofchips! We are using the DJI Mavic Air2 and love it. Carrie’s editing program is Movabi and she uses a Lenovo laptop. All of our boondocking videos have the coordinates listed in the description of the video. Do you have a UA-cam Channel? Take care. 😀
Right on! We love the Flagstaff area. The tombstone area looks unimpressive at first but when getting closer to the Dragoon mountains it's amazing. Thank you for the kind offer! 😎
Dude hand-scoops some pig poop! Hahahahaha then next frame rubs gums with the same hand. You guys are great. Love the music, too. So I have a question- what’s that yellow stuff on the rocks, during your drone segment?
Hi Kimberly. I am not an expert but I think the yellow is a live organism called lichen. I love how bright it was! Neither Carrie or me noticed the poop and teething cleaning being back to back until the comments started rolling in 🤣🤣🤣
+Christine Brigham where we were the biggest animal we were concerned with this time of year was a wild pig or javalina... they can be nasty if cornered! There are 8 species of rattlesnakes in this area.... usually not out this time of year but still possible. Believe it or not there is Bear too! Coyotes, deer 🦌 and rare reports of jaguar 🐆 😬
Yes we did as well! I ended up doing that hike 3 times to get all the footage. Each time I noticed more figures! It was like cloud-watching but with rocks. 😀
+Jolena Agapisou there are snakes but the temps gave still been pretty cold! I don’t count on that 100% but USUALLY they are not out and if they are they are really sluggish..... I am always being snake alert. A good rule of thumb is...... if you see lizards out and about ... the snakes will be out as well. We did not see any 🐍 thankfully!!
This dental hygienist likes the manzanita trivia! You can do a great job brushing your teeth by wiping with a thin, terry baby washcloth too, so why not a manzanita?

One summer we backpacked 150 miles in the Trinity Alps Wilderness where we saw multiple rattlesnakes and we grew up in snake country so I am always on snake alert! Thankfully most of the time you can avoid them..
Spend enough time in semi-arid country and you will become accustomed to the all critters. Once in a great while you will hear a rattle. All good.
Arizona definitely has quite a few gems. 93.5, sounds cool.
Just have to stay in the shade in the day and do your hiking in the morning.
Another great video guys. Love the haircuts
Thank you, Maitilda! We are the Mohawk family now. 😀 Although with the current snow on the ground I think Carrie wishes she had some of that hair back to keep her head warm. 😂
Love y’all!!! The hair cuts look great:)
Thanks for the tip about the javaleñas
Did I spell that right?! Lol
Awesome drone shot at 18:06!
Thank you! I was thinking I needed to fly closer to that outcropping rock. 😀
That was awesome! Love the new hair do too.
Thank you, Tammy! I am thinking it will be a bit cooler in the summer. 😎
In the drone shots I saw a person standing looking down the canyon and many other animals along the trail.
I know right?! It was like cloud-watching but with rocks, loved that hike.😀
In my next life..... I think I want to be a drone!
We are excited for you to see Organ Pipe and the Ajo area! Near Tombstone is the Dragoon mountains! You are in for a real treat! We are honored that you are visiting these locations we have showcased..and a bit jealous I might add. 😂
Hi Guys! Jodi here from upstate NY! Great video! We used to live in Arizona for 12 years but moved back to the Canadian border to be close to my family. Boy, do I ever miss the desert! 🌄🏜️🌵
Loved the mohawk on you Carrie! You too, Dave and Roodle! PS. When you have time, I would love the GPS location, if you have it. Thanking you in advance, Jodi. PS. Go Bills! LOL 👍😜
Coordinates (31.8745832, -110.0219919).
Hi Jodi! Thank you for all the kind words!! I am a huge fan of granite rock and red soil. Arizona has been amazing and so diverse. I am guessing your summers are much more comfortable now. 😎
@@oneadVANtureatatime thanks for the coordinates! I have to tell you that my husband and I look forward to your videos every Saturday and we have a great routine. We take the dogs out to the lake, then go out for breakfast, then enjoy your video of the week. Yesterday was really cold and the wind chill factor at the beach was 5°F...brrrrr🥶
I also have to tell you that you guys look so,so very happy. It looks like you found your calling in life and I am truly happy for you.❤️ Until next time, happy boondocking, Jodi ☺️
You guys already know i Love your Mohawks! 😎👍🏼
Thank you, Stone! We are the Mohawk family now. 😎
beautiful views! Thank you for sharing! :)
Thank you! The night sky is amazing here in southern Arizona with nearly no light pollution. I think you would enjoy it here! 😀😀😀
@@oneadVANtureatatime
that is exactly what I was thinking when you said that about the sky at night there! I am so close to leaving MN and starting my full-time adventure! Maybe 3 or 4 months or so. You have been a huge source of inspiration, thank you for keeping the flame alive!!!
Great minds think alike. Lol. 😁
I camped at that exact spot Pig hunting. It snowed like crazy, but it was beautiful. No pigs, but had fun.
Snake gaiters are a nice Idea! Today we have snow in the forecast so that 4wd kit is sounding smart! Take care my friend.
Go see Baja., drive to LaPaz and back...get to know the locals...see what they drive on those backroads. Its amazing where you can go with just a plain old high clearance truck. No 4wd needed.
Amazing find....this world is so full of wonder. Heading out today. Hope to see you all soon.
Yeah I Saw Cesar from the planet of the apes in the second shot of the video
Me too!!!! Carrie
Liked the video your friends and also the new Mohawk look.
Thank you, Alok! That's been the best part of this journey, the people we meet along the way. 😀😀😀 Roodle loves his Mahawk, he has been happier ever since. 🐕
Yes I can see it 😎
Good Saturday morning from Aiken,S.C.
Good day, John! Thank you for watching.
We did a day trip there. We were staying at Empire Ranch.
+tnt Walters someone was telling me about empire ranch. How was your stay?
@@oneadVANtureatatime very nice. Plenty of spots, but we still had a couple people camp within 30 or 40 yards from us which was unnecessary, but weather was great. Beautiful spot.
Welcome to the best state in the country.
Thank you, Jarvis! We are having a great time in Arizona. We even got snow today! 😎
@@oneadVANtureatatime There's even a little snow in Scottsdale today! Crazy!
What great footage.......👍👍👍👍👍 Then the drone!!!! No you didn't!!! 😅😅😅😅😅 👋👋👋👋👋
Thank you! I ended up doing the hike 3 times it was just that awesome. 😎
Lol the poop to teeth brushing 😂 oh no !!!
😂😂
Did you come across any rattlesnakes? Seems like the weather is nice enough that they'd be out. I'd freak out if I saw them while walking around!😬
We did not see any snakes but the nights were below freezing still so I think it was the perfect time of year to miss them. 😀
Carrie freaks out over snakes as well. 😂
I love the new intro. And it looks like you might cross into Mexico????💕
Thank you! We will cross into Mexico but just not yet!
Great spot! I'm workamping near there. Love your side door screen. Can you tell me where you got it?
Thanks!
I (Carrie) actually designed it and sewed it myself!! A total pain in the backside!!! It took me 16 hours to sew it!!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Great work I must say. I believe I will make one also. Eeeeeek!
Take care. 😀
Love your vids! Can you tell me about the music in this one. Is it your own or where do you get it from?
Hi Rick. Carrie gets all of her free music from the Music Library on UA-cam.
what camera is she carrying, what other do you use, thanks, Tom
Hi Tom. Carrie has her Cannon 80D here. Of course we always take our GoPro 7 and DJI Air 2 drone when permitted.
Tuscon Tease: Nice choice of music!
Thank you, Paul! 😎
+Paul Markert yes! You must have a UA-cam channel or perhaps the creator of Tucson Tease? If fit perfectly for this video!!!
Great... yet another place I've got to add to the list of must see locations in AZ. If you ever make your way through Flag look us up ~>
Right on! We love the Flagstaff area. The tombstone area looks unimpressive at first but when getting closer to the Dragoon mountains it's amazing. Thank you for the kind offer! 😎
Stunning! I love the music in this vlog. The haircuts are awesome!!😊👍🏽
Neither Carrie or me noticed the poop and teething cleaning being back to back until the comments started rolling in 🤣🤣🤣
@@oneadVANtureatatime haha edit faux pas.
I think you said you got off on FR 4804??? For anyone looking on Google Maps or GAIA Maps it is actually FR 687. Just in case anyone was looking ;-)
Correct 687 is off middle March rd but we took 4804 off 687😃
I found it by looking at the Forest Service map and zooming in. It's just northwest of where 687 turns from Middlemarch Road.
What animal were you concerned about? Are they common in the desert?
+Christine Brigham where we were the biggest animal we were concerned with this time of year was a wild pig or javalina... they can be nasty if cornered! There are 8 species of rattlesnakes in this area.... usually not out this time of year but still possible. Believe it or not there is Bear too! Coyotes, deer 🦌 and rare reports of jaguar 🐆 😬
Uk loving the vlogs as ever :)
Thank you, Ray!
@@oneadVANtureatatime
Great video.. we all look forward to the next video..
UK watching and loving the great video you do :)
Picks up poop - next scene rubs fingers in mouth . 😂
But who actually picked up the poop?
one adVANture at a time , the one with the Mohawk
But technically both of us and the dog have a Mohawk 😂. Hint it was me (Carrie) holding the poop!!!
I spotted a number of "faces" in the rocks. Did you?
Yes we did as well! I ended up doing that hike 3 times to get all the footage. Each time I noticed more figures! It was like cloud-watching but with rocks. 😀
Wow saw the faces too....the spires looked like a bunch of tall people from far away...what a fun place to visit!! Thank you for taking us there!
Thank you, Judi! It was like cloud-watching but with rocks. I did that hike 3 times in 3 days. 😎
Aren’t there snakes there this time of year?? I’m deathly afraid of snakes & scorpions
Right on! We appreciate any dental tip we can get since we can't afford dental insurance 😀
I tried to buy items but it says it does not cover my area willing to pay shipping if thats what it means thankyou anyway stay safe
+PAPOLE1 I’m sorry! Please email me some more info about where you are located and what you were looking to buy! I’ll see what we can work out.

No GPS location?
Yes! Forgot to include this in the description😄

So nice Drone shots and excellent music👍, I am dreaming of visiting South West again here in cold Germany. Thank you for your video, you made my day.
By the way, we have a little similar car to yours. www.westfalia-mobil.com/modelle/columbus/columbus-641e.php In Europe the Basic Car is called Ducato and has since 6 years other headlights.
I keep seeing faces in these rocks first one I thought was a walrus. Saw a horse's head, I saw hands
Yes, so many creatures!
1 #LiveYourPassion Luv the interesting places you travel !! It’s so refreshing !! ❤️ 🌞🚐🇺🇸 #FindYourFreedom 🐾 Happy Dog Roodle !!
Thank you! I loved that hike so much I did it 3 times! So far this was my favorite location of the new year.😀😀😀
