Late to the Party, I ordered one of these V3 vtxs about a week ago now. As soon as I realised it wasn't limited to Quad racing and low res, low latency. Pleased to see excellent performance and a very nice comparison with the V2...They should have stayed with M2 hardware IMO. The M3 screw has obviously bottomed out causing the now thin walled lug to snap off....Low light was great btw....Great overview m8...🤔🤔😳😏😀🇬🇧

How does this camera get power when I fly it with my regular RC plane, directly from the RC plane's LiPo battery or from an external battery. Where do I connect it the battery with my Nano V3 camera? It just very confusing. bye the way nice video:)

Great review. Awesome photography work from the bench, with great photos and lighting. The overlay of v2 data in-sync with v3 was interesting. Impressed did so well at sub-100 feet a couple miles out. The use of M2 screw mounting, and usb-c are great suggestions.
The Reno Air Races could have used a system like this for providing live FPV dreams from each aircraft on the course this past week. Course is (at most) an 8 mile loop flown at 50-100 feet. Not sure what limitations with Avatar/Walksnail would exist on range with multiple systems being active at once. Only mentioning as 'hobby grade' video, like seen here from Avatar on this flight was far superior.

Awesome flying and review, Keith! 😃
This VRX is really interesting indeed! And for quads now we have the race mode, so... Win-win situation. 😊
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Thanks fot the review. I'm starting to use Walksnail and looks like the main issue regarding range now is the antennas. Is there any replacements you can recommend?

For the transmitter side I've had good luck with the Rush Cherry, and HGLRC Hammer. Probably any decent transmitter will be as good or better than the stock ones. For the receiver side, a great place to start is the triple feed patch antennas. They're a great performer at a great price. I'm currently using two of the smaller 9.4db ones on top of the VRX, with the stock patches in the front. I'm sure there's several other options out there too that will work even better at a higher cost from reputable brands.

@@bonafidepirate I dont use the googles but the standalone receiver and I already purchased the triple patch for it just didn't taste them yet. I'll check your suggestions for the TX, thanks!

Yeah those little plugs are the dumbest thing ever what happens if I lose one of those you're so tiny almost no one has any of those in their boxes or drawers you know directly on those even if it cost $5 more I would pay it is worth it

I've a nano V3 mounted on a tiny cinewoop and a V1 on a 3'' and the V3 beats the V1 on every aspect: great image, colors, and range. The V1 (with 2 antennas) can't flight above some trees in my fields due to bad range, while with the V3 I'm able to flight through the branches without almost no image problems. However, I've a lots of GPS interferences with both vtx.

Can we see the insides as a whole? I have the same setup minus the FC so my camera is connected to the receiver. I’m still trying to figure out how I can have the telemetry in the goggles

Do you think it would be okay to use this VTX without the metal case like the 1s VTXs to get the weight down? I like the camera and antenna that come with this one and the price is pretty comparable to the 1s.

It's kind of amazing that it holds the bitrate really good way better than the v2 vtx, and maybe that's why so many people have been complaining about the v2 not doing as good as the v1, and they all think it's because of 2 ant vs 1 antenna, but it seems like it is something else thanks for the review

Yeah I was surprised too... lol I've found the V2s work as good as V1s for range with a decent antenna on it. I don't know about penetration around buildings and such for the quads though.

Seeing this confirms in my mind that the V2 wasn't a very good VTX. That V3 is showing great bitrate for 2 miles at 100ft!

I use them on my V1 transmitters too. The V2s come with a cable sorta like that already made up. I always mount the USB port so it's accessible in the plane without having to take anything apart for fumble around with those little cables. I'd still very much like to see them just stick a USB port on the transmitter though... lol

I wish Caadx would offer longer mipi cable options. It would make for more mounting options when using pan/tilt gimbals.

They sell a 20cm mipi cable.
