- Finally jumped on the HeeWing Ranger hype train! This little plane was super easy to setup and really easy to fly, even for me being completely new to INAV (once I remembered to arm 😅).
Thanks to @JohnCuppi for helping me through setup and for the great camera work! (We may need a wind filter next the haha).
Model: HeeWing T1 Ranger (V1)
FC: Matek F411 WTE
VTX: Diatone Mama Ultra 1000
Receiver: HappyModel ep2 ExpressLRS
Camera: Foxeer Toothless 2 Starlight
Battery: GNB lithium-ion 3S 2500mah 12C
3D Prints (PETG unless otherwise noted)
Motor pods were from this forum post. You need to print one as is then a mirrored one for the other wing: www.rcgroups.c...
Rear hatch/vtx holder (or similar, there are many versions of this hatch): www.thingivers...
Rear vent/antenna holder: www.thingivers...
I used the GPS table in this for my GPS mount. I ended up printing it in TPU: www.thingivers...
Landing skids (TPU): www.thingivers...
So happy to be there for the maiden and it’s fantastic we have the same plane. 😅 gotta get some LED strips now and do some follows!
Just got my T1 Ranger up and going- Let’s fly!
Congrats on your Maiden, I love the Ranger T1, is that John Coppa? With you good job on your setup. I just updated my F.C to INAV 7 can't wait for tomorrow to fly again. Thanks for the video
Hell yeah, Bone, that's exactly how my first iNav flight went. With years on Betaflight and Ardupilot, I was as confident as you were. Now, like 20 planes later, I won't fly a plane without an iNav FC lol, the OSD, gyro, and GPS functions spoil me.
Awesome 1st flight! Very cool!
Thanks!
Great job on this first flight!
Thanks!
Cool Flight. Been flying FPV quads for a while, and bought a atomrc swordfish RTH. Hoping to maiden it soon. ELRS r24d, and Runcam link with the 120fps camera. Very excited.
Thanks! That sounds like a sweet setup! The swordfish looks like a fun plane, though I have heard some mixed reviews of the out-of-the-box setup. You'll want to check it over real good before putting it in the air.
Have you flown any fixed wing? This was my first plane with inav, but I've been flying line-of-sight and fpv fixed wings for a couple years now. Having that background on how to setup a plane without an fc definitely made setting it up with one much easier.
@@BoneBear it's my first plane but I have been flying drones for a while and rc cars and stuff. I have messed with inav a bit on my flywoo LR4
Hey there's a great maiden flight. And thanks for the fine LOS camera views. All I had ever really seen were fast fly byes and close proximity. Really like the high Alpha hanging on the twins. What a versatile, compact and handy platform.

Great flying skills. Enjoyed the video. Thanks!
I can appreciate the challenge of flying fpv on planes. Great job. I’ve tried it, but it never feels locked in like a quad does. Michael Scott Rhue and Shelby Voll are putting out some of the most stunning videos of the same plane, but I’m pretty sure they are using a digital system.
Thank you! Yeah, it's definitely a different feel and style from a quad. I love freestyling and racing quads, but I definitely like pulling some stunts and even just cruising on the wings and planes. The Ranger is great for both!
Those guys are definitely next level! They do some amazing flying and definitely in HD. I'm not 100%, but I suspect Shelby flies his on 4S. I'm using a 3S lion pack and getting nearly 25 minute flights.
Thanks for sharing Thomas...Those things do look fun ... Rocking the Zorro. Subbed you up...😎
Awesome thank you!
I LIKE YOUR 3D PARTS GO GOOD WITH THAT WHITE
Thanks! I definitely wanted the gray model, but got a killer deal on the white one so I decided to spruce it up. Pretty happy with how it turned out 😁
@@BoneBear I had mine for couple weeks now and it's so fun to fly
Hello, I liked the video because I am collecting the same model of the plane. I really need the same 3d parts as yours, could you share them?
Yes! Thank you for the reminder, I meant to put those links in the description. I'll try to get it done this evening after work.
@@BoneBear Thank you very much!!!
Okay, I should have all of my 3D prints listed in the description now. Best of luck on the build!
what motors are you running? to fly above stall speed on the stock motors I was at 80-100% using 3s LiIon batteries. I just put in 1804 motors and using 5" props and still need like 70% to stay up. Thinking of going up to some 23xx motors and just curious what others are flying
Interesting. I have the old stock 1404 3700kv motors and have no problem cruising at 50% throttle (you can see my throttle in the bottom-left of the OSD in this video. It rarely gets above 70%, even in all that wind). I also had the stock props on in this video, but I've since switched out for Gemfan 4024 props, which are a bit bigger and fly nicely. I'm running a 3S 2500 LiIon and have it about as far forward as it'll go to hit CG. My only guess for you would be that maybe you've got the CG off or your build is just too heavy, but those are just guesses.
@BoneBear FPV thanks for the reply, I'm thinking you're right and I'm a bit too heavy, and tend to fly with the landing gear on so I'll see what I can strip off. Thanks!
@@kenYTCA, I don't fly with the landing gear but did print some TPU skids to go on the ridges along the bottom (links in description). I'm usually tossing to launch and landing in grass, but they do help keep it pretty. Best of luck!
