Watching this to try to learn more. I work as a groundskeeper for a hospital. The hospital has many extension centers on it's property and covers many acres. We use Cheetahs for 95% of all of our mowing. There are many ditches with steep banks. Never rode a zero turn before taking this job. It's kind of tricky since I'm not used to zero turn mowers and I'm pretty heavy. I'm the biggest guy on our crew and I have to figure out how to shift my weight to keep from slipping down a slope.. There's only so far I'm willing to take some slopes. I let the other guys take it further.
I’ve got a scag setup and they can definitely handle much steeper angles, it’s just up to the operator being experienced enough to feel the center of gravity and feel the wheels
Used to mow natural gas compression stations in Appalachia and man when I tell you some of the hills that job took me on were widow makers I mean it, had my scag lose traction on one and fly about about 50 yds back into a fence, thank the lord i didn’t flip and that fence was there or I would’ve been over a pretty good sized even steeper hill down to the bottom of the hollow. Crazy shit man, definitely the scariest moment of my life, went back a to the station a day later to fix the fence and quit that day, ain’t worth it
great video i just bought my first z turn and have a few yards that have a small slope to them and was trying to go down hill forwards and was noticing i had left a skid mark and i didnt even realize i was making the back tire slide .... thanks for your tips i will try to back down the hill and seehow that goes ...
Not gonna lie boss, I had to research about zero's and steep slopes because I feel it's ripping the hydros but it's not lol. Saw this video and I was like ok cool it's not... but I might have to tell me customer that extreme slope did start making my hydros pop. Might have to let a big one go or put the self propelled 21" down that section I don't know. Great video man. I subscribed
I have a question: i have a landscape detail which is about 2ft tall. 45deg. With an edged planting bed on top. I’m thinking rotary scissors would be best but i don’t have 300 in my lawn care budget right now…
I appreciate your video but I am not a professional and my yard is about 1 and a half acres and quite steep and has one very steep hill right above the house and I have been mowing with a lawn tractor for a long time and got quite used to it but I just bought a new Husqvarna Z turn and that thing is a pain, I constantly spin slide and I am tearing my yard constantly and cannot figure out how to cut it, can you help me with that, Thanks
How much of a counter weight does a Scag have vs a Hustler. I have a property that I mow thats in a valley with a hill all arround it I am not comfortable going up and afraid of flipping backwards.
I’m a tractor guy too. But have a thinking about a zero turn. I wonder which is best for going up hills. Can zero turn climb the hill as good as a tractor? And then just back down? Anybody have an answer or any experience please let me know. Thanks
I just bought a property in western NC with about 3 acres to mow. Bought a brand new Tiger Cat II. Now, you may be able to tell from my profile pic that I don’t shy from scary dangerous activities. Mowing this yard is freakin scary. I’ve almost slid thru a fence on countless occasions. There’s one section that’s sloped both up/down and sideways (or laterally). When going nose down I have to intentionally kick the rear end out (down hill) or it’ll get away from me. I only got 10 hours on the TC II and I’m thinking about selling it and getting a 4x4 lawn tractor. The previous owner mowed the yard with a regular 2 wheel drive John Deere lawn tractor. I’ve thought about changing tires to see if that helps. Any advice from anyone? This was an expensive machine! Im pretty sure even if I could go up and down, it would run out of control going down and even full reverse wouldn’t slow my demise as I plowed thru the pasture fence.
Hey man, just started my own lawn care business. I’m an army vet ,I grew up landscaping over , not afraid of hard work and I just want to work for myself and make a living. Tired of busting my ass for someone else not getting paid what I’m worth. Do you have any advice for me?
Not sure where it happened but I remember that the news reported on a guy that was mowing near a lake on a hill and rolled into the water. Unfortunately the mower pinned him underwater and he didn't make it...

Wow! Great video! I pay to have the hill around my pond mowed. I will try my zero turn on the outside to see how it goes.
Best of luck, don’t get hurt!
More enjoyable than watching fools queuing for the Novid Culljection, your POV zero turn videos
I would use my TT vs my cheetah for this type of prop. Also prefer to mow across the hill from the bottom up. Nice work.
A turf tiger is better, I agree. What is the second pattern you keep on your hill properties?
Luke Meyer diagonals like your doing. Plus I have Carlisle bar treads on my TT.
Ruth Ford nice! That must help. Keep mowing on!
I have been getting accounts on hills lately and never really done it. I think even small hills seem sketchy to me but I have a small mower.
Great info!
Could you do a video you on uneven/steep ditches
That's good 👍 bro take care of your workers well being and your machines it's better to avoid then to regret
Great video!!!!

I'm on a Gravely 560 and inclined is my big sheesh days. Subbed. Thanks for the info brother.

great video for a newbie like me.. can you share how to create strips

I like that mower, wish I could've made it in time for the fall sales. WalMart hasn't gotten anymore in yet 🤔
Do you know what degree that slope is? Nice video. Have a property i'm borderline putting my scag cheetah on
Thanks, always had tractor types . Was concerned that a zero turn could not do slopes

how steep can you mow with your zero turn i have 30percent grade on my slopes thank you
Good job. I like it.
Thank you! Much appreciated.
What is the pitch of this slope?
boy that grass is short; does it burn much in the summer?
Never does. Cut it at 4” real height.

A 4x4 mower would be great. Ventrac makes one I believe. See if you can demo one first.
hEy mr man, whats the best zero turn for mowing ditches?
A scag vride or a push mower
I see alot of Zero turn owners have the roll bar down. Why is this? Thanks
They easily rip off low hanging tree branches. It is good practice to use them on hills.

How is your business doing?
If you have a lot of slops STANDERS STANDERS
Not sure where it happened but I remember that the news reported on a guy that was mowing near a lake on a hill and rolled into the water. Unfortunately the mower pinned him underwater and he didn't make it...
That’s so unfortunate. It can happen to the most experienced of us.
@@lukemeyer338 Happened to my aunt. She had mowed around the same pond on her farm for over 40 years.
Sweet Christ bro, I just suffered anxiety watching you 180 slide and back down towards the water. Do you have one like this got a stander?
Usually we mow this one with a stander. It’s tricky and the most difficult property we’d take on. I hope you’re all settled down by now!
What’s with the bucket.
Trash can
Ok… what trash are you accumulating while mowing.
Mostly paper products
Why not use a cordless dyson and vacuum the papers and other debris,
@@meephead6636 because I pull up next to it and lean over to pick it up.
Steep Hill?
More hillside
Those cheetahs could damn near climb a mountain if your careful. Good weight distribution depending on conditions
61"?
Yes
I done steeper hill than that working for a local lawcare guy
Nice!
get a grabber for trash! good video!
Thank you!
That's just being lazy
You don't want to see my steep hill
Oh I do :)
Rolled right over the paver patio. Big mistake just saying.
What is the angle of the incline?
