We’ve still got the 2 Christmas books adaptations, and also not forgetting The Adventure Begins! Regardless, I am very surprised this final main Railway Series comparison ended on a high note! Thank you The Finest Cocoa, you really showed your stuff!
It's hard to believe we're really at the end! Been following this series for so long! I do hope you do one last comparison with "The Adventure Begins" movie since it was a retelling of the first two books, but if this is the last video, I'll be happy with it!
Bulstrode also returned to the new reboot show around the same year it started, after 26 years of his absence in the T&F franchise. And his personality was changed from grumpy and disagreeable to a kind barge.
And… that’s it. That’s all the books. Except maybe the spin-off books like Christmas Party and Missing Christmas Tree. Great series Jeffrey Edit: Yup, thought so
Thank you so much for this series! I've been watching for years! As for this adaptation, what a strange one it was. Weird how Percy basically got away with trying to drown a sentient boat (unintentionally, yes, but it would seem he should have at least been given a stern talking-to). I wonder if maybe they never adapted the Mavis story because they thought it was too frightening and perhaps they thought Toby derailing was too similar to Thomas Gets Bumped and Time for Trouble.
On one hand I'm kind of sad to see this series end but on the other hand judging by the end of the video it shows that you'll be taking a look at the one-off annual stories. But in the meantime I begged the series a good day.
Well done on wrapping up to all the main books of The Railway Series, compared with the TV series. I remember reading the book with my grandparents on my dad's side...but forgot how different it was, having never had the book myself. And real shame to see that, alongside The Small Railway Engines, being one of the last books to be adapted, before Mattel has replaced Thomas & Friends with All Engines Go now. And I thought "Special Attraction" was pretty nice.
A great way to end the main series Jeffrey. Well done. I prefer The RWS versions, as there was more sense and realism. Never realised a few points you pointed out till now, such as Percy being irresponsible in the TV Series episode.
If Special Attraction was extended, Henry should have had 1020’s role because he’s always ill, He should have been takin some passengers to the Special Attraction and would be short of steam, and Toby would help him to the seaside station where the passengers praise them for their actions, And there should have been a night scene of The Fat Controller congratulating Toby for helping Henry to the Seaside Station on time. And Toby would fall asleep and wake up to go to the Special Attraction.
Welp… I guess that’s the end… thanks for making these videos! I learned so many things I didn’t know and I can’t wait to see what your future videos will be about!
It’s been a wonderful journey, it’s always great to be part of the Finest Cocoa community. You’ve created a great community and make some wonderful videos
Nice that you have wrapped up this series. You Should do a “ the three railways and Thomas the tank engine vs the adventure begins” episode as a finale.
Wow, I didn’t even realize this was the end, well I’ll always miss this series, I can always go back and rewatch it but it’s sad there will be no new installments, but it was a great series nonetheless
7:58 Ah, so that's why you didn't mention that phrase in the previous video! I also like how you've hinted about comparing the two standalone Christmas books in future.
I’m glad you pointed out the big differences between the episode and the adaptation. Jeffery a big congrats to the 4 years you contributed to making these vids it’s been an enjoyable experience overall and I look forward to your future vids
@@ciarangleeson2880 Yes, because being cantankerous is enough justification for you to be severely damaged and decommissioned through no fault of your own.
I read online that the reason Thomas was not in this book was that it was set parallel the following book, Thomas and the twins, where Thomas is sent to work on Edward's branch line due to the bridge over the river on Thomas's needing repairs and Thomas exceeded the weight limit Sir Topham Hatt set on it during its repairs
Other differences you didn't discuss: 1. Bulstrode in his namesake RWS story has two hulls. In the adaptation ("Special Attraction"), he's got just one. 2. Four freight cars loaded with what was falsely described as stone in the Railway Series fell into Bulstrode. In the adaptation, there were five correctly described as carrying stone instead of slate. 3. In the adaptation, the cars face Percy before turning their faces away but in the book they were facing away from Percy all the time. They probably detected Percy's presence by puffing sounds.
Toby's burnt looking window was a goof for the episode. Though if it was meant for the story and episode, it would make sense for Toby to be unwanted in the parade.
There will never be anymore adaptations of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. The only thing we can do is cherish the ones we have while also watch fan content of those who remember and respect the shows of their childhood.
I do wish you could do "Spot the Differences" videos for the Railway Series books of "Thomas' Christmas Party" and "Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree".
You know, I heard on the Thomas wiki that this book took place at the same time as the next one, Thomas And The Twins, where Thomas went to work on Edward’s branch line, and that’s why he was absent from Toby, Trucks, And Trouble.
With this series done, what books do you think deserve to be adapted in the revival era? I know I would pick Mountain Engines and Very Old Engines. As for Christopher’s books, let’s discuss it here.
Maybe Percy’s brakes could have been acting faulty, and probably could have been foreshadowed once or twice, and then they could have stopped working while he was pushing the trucks. Does that work for an explanation?
It's such a shame this was the final Railway Series book adapted for the TV series. Oh well, at least we can do more un-adapted Railway Series on UA-cam. Also, I'm inspired to do my own series like this. And I'm still trying to buy this book (it's quite expensive though).
Hard to believe you’ve reached the end! Been following this series since 2018 and I’m glad to see you complete it!

It wasn’t a bad episode, but if that was the case, I wish they went with the original version.

He almost returned for the last few seasons of the model series, but his model wasn’t built due to budget cuts.

6:36 wait dose mean bulstrode died?!
Hard to believe that this is the end.
I think the reason The stationmaster walked away shaking his head was because he heard that the festival don’t want Toby as their festival Attraction.
You know, I heard on the Thomas wiki that this book took place at the same time as the next one, Thomas And The Twins, where Thomas went to work on Edward’s branch line, and that’s why he was absent from Toby, Trucks, And Trouble.
Funnily enough, Bulstrode had been brought back in All Engines Go, after not appearing again in the original show.
It’s amazing how many one time Thomas characters left a big impact on the series.
So now what? The Adventure Begins? Pretty please?
Thomas & Friends has to have original stories in it and not just adaptions all the time.
Most of Christopher Awdry’s stories were not televised. Some had new characters and stories but they probably weren’t merchandisable.
With this series done, what books do you think deserve to be adapted in the revival era? I know I would pick Mountain Engines and Very Old Engines. As for Christopher’s books, let’s discuss it here.
How does it feel now that this series is over.
Bulstrode was a jerk but his punishment was undeserved, I also kind of hate that Percy didn’t face consequences for what he did.
I think he did get what he deserved. Plus it wasn’t really Percy’s fault.
They could have at least given a more clear cut explanation to how it happened.
Maybe Percy’s brakes could have been acting faulty, and probably could have been foreshadowed once or twice, and then they could have stopped working while he was pushing the trucks. Does that work for an explanation?
Wait in season 6 Edward the really useful engine is it kinda like a super rescue hmm (:/
