If i may add, in military speaking when a unit is said to have been wiped out doesnt necessarily mean it ceases to exist (i know it sounds counter intuitive), but just that it sustained such heavy losses that it can be considered out of action until its losses can be replenished, other times a unit being wiped out also means to be reorganized, in this case could be due to also sustaining heavy losses but the situation is so desperate the army takes whatever's left of other unit in the same position and reorganizes it into a new one
