A while ago, Emily mentioned Pangolins in a video, and I had never heard of it. I had to look it up online. It is a very cool creature and I'm glad we got to see this more extended tour of it on the show.
I'm always waiting for her final sentence, after the outro. I'm expecting "it still has brains on it", but every once in a while I get a special treat.
I'm so happy you made an episode about Pangolins! They are pretty much my favourite animal. It's like an armadillo and an anteater mixed... bred for it's skills in magic.
Ok, the joke at the start with the drum roll killed me. I am actually dead. Maybe I will be delivered to your door to be skinned. I am also a penguin. A dead penguin. That is all.
You know what would be pretty incredible. A roadtrip. Like a safari trip or something, take some cameras along and Emily can tell us all about all the animals they go past.
Absolutely loved this episode. From the raccoon to the title humor to the endtro to the description to the amazing facts. Loved. I feel like The Brain Scoop is really getting into a groove, and I'm so excited for it's future.
Every time I see a new Brain Scoop video in my subscriptions list I get as excited as a kid on Christmas morning opening the BIG present from under the tree ;-]
I get a lot of questions about what my favorite specimen is in the collection and, uh, after much deliberation and serious consideration, came to the conclusion that it is probably the pangolin. And this is for a multitude of reasons. For one, um, I'm really surprised that we have one in our collection Nice rhyme, Emily
You showed some true fan colors about half way through the video. Facts were flying, you were having fun, and drumming S.M. Raccoon was hilarious! These continue to be one of the best shows on UA-cam!
I love how I just NOW figured out that Michael Aranda links Emily Graslie to Charlie McDonnell and Alex Day. And I've probably watched videos with any of the 4 of them in at least 4 different countries for a few years now...THE WORLD IS SUCH A TINY PLACE.
I can't get over how gorgeous your hair is today. ...now I have to go see if I can find a youtube video of live pangolins walking around to witness this adorable method you described...
I love that you talked about Pangolins, Emily! I learned about this amazing creature while visiting the San Diego Zoo last year. They had a Pangolin that came out for limited viewings in the afternoon, and is apparently one of very few in the Western Hemisphere in captivity. (He was rescued trying to be illegally imported.) They're really cute in person and interesting to watch. The particular one I saw kept wrapping his tail around the zookeeper, parts of the exhibit, and all over basically.
see now this is why I love thebrainscoop! Looking at a pangolin, I'd never believe it's a mammal. All those scales, I'd have instantly thought reptile! New knowledge is awesome. And Emily is awesome too!
I've seen a Pangolin in person at the San Diego zoo. He is tricky to see, since he is not on display. I saw him when they brought him out for a keeper talk in the children's zoo. I think he is the only one (or one of two) Pangolins living in the US, according the keeper.
I just looked up a video of them walking, and they look like they should be assistants to evil geniuses, with the hunched position, and the way they hold their paws makes them look like they're plotting something.
My fiancé actually had a pet pangolin when she was young and living in Africa... well, pet might not be totally accurate. It was a wild pangolin that had been injured and rescued. It slept on the mantle of their fireplace and otherwise ignored the family. Still, she still has fondness for pangolins to this day. :)
ok i haven't even watched this video yet but upon seeing it in my sub box i just threw my hands in the air and whisper-yelled "YES" i'm hella pumped for this vid
Woah, yet again another fantastic episode from Brainscoop! And I'd never even heard of a Pangolin before now, I've been converted :P Thanks team for the great work
Emily, thanks so much for being a regular content uploader! Hank has surely shown you a winning strategy for up-and-coming UA-cam channels. I get so sad when quality channels upload once in a blue moon. :(
Yay! I always visit the pangolin when I'm at the Field Museum. So cute. Also, unfortunately, so dead. Hope you get to see your living pangolin someday, Emily!
They have one at the san diego zoo it comes out in the animal encounters show it is one of their big achievements because normally they die in captivity the record for keeping one in captivity before was just a few months and they have had theirs for several years
I had never, ever heard of a pangolin before. Obviously the New Zealand education system has failed me in this vital task. Emily, thank you for rectifying this!
It's sad to know that such a good channel isn't receiving the number of views that it deserves, that it has to resort to having advertisements on the beginning. :| Emily, you're an absolute delight to watch, and your job is incredibly interesting, and I hope people get in on this.
I didn't even know what a pangolin was before this episode. (And neither does my spellchecker :P) Thanks Emily! I don't know if I love them quite as much as you, but they are fascinating critters!
AHHHH!!! Thank you so much for talking about Pangolins! They are one of my fave animals. I tried explaining one to my friends once and they were convinced i was crazy lol
I love that my favorite animal is finally getting some recognition. Maybe someday I won't have to try to explain Pangolins to people, complete with silly walk.
According to a kind lady from my country's zoo. They used to be common in my country until the appearance of screaming children and their heroic parents their numbers have since dwindled greatly. And I am not joking that was how the lady put it across to us
i want that last quote as a shirt. it would have "In my next life i think i'm going to be a pangolin probably." and somewhere on the shirt it should actually have a cartoon picture of a pangolin.
that was the greatest drumroll in the history of drumrolls...my life is complete having seen it.
also yay Pangolins
1. Excellent video
2.That fox sweater is the bomb
3. Raccoon-snare drum bit was clever as heck
well done :D
Emily is adorkable. Love these videos.
Stephen Bosher I agree
ITS SANDSHREW!!!!
Sandshrew is a shrew, armadillo, and pangolin
That's how Benedict Cumberbatch pronunces "penguins".
Aaaaaaaaaa!
You mean dinosaurs?
The original poster was clearly aware of this when they made their point.
Soon raccoon is getting rambunctious.
Their tongues are attached to their pelvises??? Whoa!!

I'm expecting "it still has brains on it", but every once in a while I get a special treat.
i've only seen like the first 3 seconds. i love her
Pangolins are cool, specially the way they walk. They look like T-rex pinecones.
Emily said that before!
Still among the top 3 episodes of the Brain Scoop
SO much love for this channel. I love learning and being grossed out simultaneously.
This is one of the best shows on youtube. It has everything and an Emily.
What do penguins have to do with this?
Nothing. I think they just misspelled pangolins.
Gareth Baus because every time she said it, it sounded like penguin.
The San Diego Zoo has a live Pangolin, and they bring it out for public viewing every so often. It was so adorable, and its tongue was so long.
Awesome episode!
Just looked up video of Pangolins. LOVE THEM. Their walk really is adorable.
Great. Thanks Emily. Now I am going to spend the whole day watching adorable pangolin youtube videos.
Love the little quotes at the end of the episodes! Love the rest of the episodes, too, keep up the good work!
I adore the editing and production of this show. And I'm in love with the "soon raccoon."
Omg I just watched another video on the pangolin walking, and that is literally the cutest thing EVER.
Every time I see a new Brain Scoop video in my subscriptions list I get as excited as a kid on Christmas morning opening the BIG present from under the tree ;-]

Nice rhyme, Emily
Thank you michael aranda for your great work!!
What a cool critter. Thanks for the video.
That is awesome. Not just the critter, the lady who talks about it and has such a passion for science.
You showed some true fan colors about half way through the video. Facts were flying, you were having fun, and drumming S.M. Raccoon was hilarious! These continue to be one of the best shows on UA-cam!
Emily, you are awesome! Love the show.
Pangolin's have recently become one of my favorite animals and then this popped up. greatness!
I love this UA-cam channel more than The Discovery Channel. Ugh my heart
The Brain Scoop is fast becoming my favourite UA-cam channel.
You are amazing! Please never stop making these!
I like Pangolins and now I like you.
The bit after the credits was SO ADORABLE.
objectively, she really did her hair very nice this time. The ponytail on the side and the slight curling of her hair looks kinda pretty.
You guys always do a good job being funny and interesting, and this was no exception. Bravo!
haven't even watched the entire video and already liked it just for the description.
I didn't even know this animal existed. So, thank you, Emily, for shedding some light onto that.
I just really really love your fox sweater, Emily.
I just absolutely adore your right ear.
The sense of humour on this channel was so unique and fun. I love all the ongoing jokes, like the racoon. That scene with the drumroll floored me :')
I love what you've done with your hair.
The awesomeness increases with each video!
The angelic choir was the perfect touch after the raccoon on the Tommy!
I would just like to say: Best drum roll ever.
you are the best, enjoy your segments hope you are still on You tube
This day has finally arrived, the pangolin is here!
So glad someone shares my love for these guys
I had to pause this video so I could find a video of a pangolin walking. ADORABLE.
Best intro ever so far!
I love how I just NOW figured out that Michael Aranda links Emily Graslie to Charlie McDonnell and Alex Day. And I've probably watched videos with any of the 4 of them in at least 4 different countries for a few years now...THE WORLD IS SUCH A TINY PLACE.
This is just so cool! I love this show soo much! It just makes me so happy!
So, who else is feeling the urge to look up a video of the Pangolin walking?
Wow, you researched this just to answer my question? Thank you! I didn't even know where to start looking...
Some pangolins also walk on their knuckles! Also thank you for featuring my all-time favourite animal on this awesome show!
When I saw this was the video, I think I cried tears of joy.
Thanks for posting this. I'd never heard of pangolins before and they're really fascinating.
I can't get over how gorgeous your hair is today.

Aww!! I'd want to hug him!!

I got a Pangolin video for my birthday. :) Little bit mind blowing, I really had no idea the behaviour of Pangolins was as unique as their appearance.
I kinda hope there will be a flood of fanart of Emily as a trainer with a sandshrew
Great episode, Emily!! I've never heard of a pangolin before. Thank you!

Aw, I just saw a video of a pangolin walking. It's adorable.
Good choice.
I just looked up a video of them walking, and they look like they should be assistants to evil geniuses, with the hunched position, and the way they hold their paws makes them look like they're plotting something.
Really good episode!!! I'd love to see more like it about cool specimens!
that drum roll though
I love your sweater.
Also PANGOLINS ARE ADORABLE.
My fiancé actually had a pet pangolin when she was young and living in Africa... well, pet might not be totally accurate. It was a wild pangolin that had been injured and rescued. This was a great episode. The raccoon drum roll was priceless! Great job Emily.
I freaking LOVE this channel!
Raccoon Drumroll! Yay! I'm so glad you have a donation site, I want this series to grow and I am willing to support it.
This is so awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Raccoon an a snare drum = BRILLIANT!
Keep up the good work.
Love to listen to you Emily!
I am totally wearing that same sweater right now!
They have one at the san diego zoo it comes out in the animal encounters show it is one of their big achievements because normally they die in captivity the record for keeping one in captivity before was just a few months and they have had theirs for several years
This is the best video I have ever seen.
I had never, ever heard of a pangolin before. Obviously the New Zealand education system has failed me in this vital task. Emily, thank you for rectifying this!
I wondered about that part too, until I realised she meant that they should, objectively, be, but are for some reason not yet.
It's sad to know that such a good channel isn't receiving the number of views that it deserves, that it has to resort to having advertisements on the beginning. :| Emily, you're an absolute delight to watch, and your job is incredibly interesting, and I hope people get in on this.
"It has this tail that it can wrap around its head when it feels threatened"
IT EVEN USES DEFENSE CURL!
I didn't even know what a pangolin was before this episode. (And neither does my spellchecker :P) Thanks Emily! I don't know if I love them quite as much as you, but they are fascinating critters!
Love you Emily you put a smile on my face
AHHHH!!! Thank you so much for talking about Pangolins! They are one of my fave animals. I tried explaining one to my friends once and they were convinced i was crazy lol
Just found my new favorite animal!
Thanks Emily!
I love that my favorite animal is finally getting some recognition. Maybe someday I won't have to try to explain Pangolins to people, complete with silly walk.
Pangolin are cool animals. Having a defensive nature and being in general a kind animal. They are also strong to their size.
I just got a signed poster for my birthday! Probably one of my favorite presents that I got!
According to a kind lady from my country's zoo. They used to be common in my country until the appearance of screaming children and their heroic parents their numbers have since dwindled greatly. And I am not joking that was how the lady put it across to us
Tongue muscles that stretch all the way to their pelvis?!?! I had to pause the video for a second to let that sink in. Wow.
i want that last quote as a shirt. it would have "In my next life i think i'm going to be a pangolin probably." and somewhere on the shirt it should actually have a cartoon picture of a pangolin.
reasons that the brain scoop is vital to our lives
