Thanks so much! With scrapers down you showed me how to personalize whatever images I want to show up!
Thanks for this tutorial. I was having issues getting my images to scrape the correct regions box arts and this is just what I needed 👌🏻
Much appreciated for the tutorial. I was having issues with the scraper. Not sure if it's my image or the database but you saved me a ton of work and headaches. Subscribed.
Pow mano me ajudou muito tava desistindo de pow minha capas do Nitendo mais consegui graças a você top conteúdo valeu mesmo
Very helpful tutorial, thanks a bunch!.
Thank you very much.
Good stuff man!
Nice work, man!
sure help me out thanks
My option to "edit this game's metadata" is not there on that menu. Do you know why that would be?
Something is wrong with your Retropie script then. You might want to try an update script or full update on Retropie.
Hello there, thank for this valuable tutorial, it really helped me understand how to add boxart manually. I just have one question, can you help understand how to do the same for all roms in one step, i mean, how to redirect the path for all roms into one image folder? thank you
Homero Ramirez I’m not certain I understand the question but if you want to put all images in a folder and redirect to that folder , maybe you can take each gamelist.xml and do a “find”/“replace” in each gamelist on the line
Hi friend, when I turn off Raspbarry my box art deletes, how do I save my image work in the roms?? thanks
Restart emulation station after all your changes before you shutdown. Start button/ go down to quit, BUT Do RESTART EMULATION STATION FIRST!

thank you friend you helped me, thank you very much

Hey man, so I edited the metadata to a few of the games that that scraper did not get and i was able to edit information just fine. I turned off the system and went to use it later in the day and now nothing for that console has any data anymore - do you know why this would be? or how i can get it back? I’m sure all the info is still in the game list file and whatnot - Im running a VM image file.
Ughh on VM image. But if you’re missing everything , you need to run scraper again, then when you update the missing info, you need to RESTART EMULATUON STATION before turning off. Put the data in and restart emu station. You need the game list data to save and it usually take a restart for emu station . After you have it the way you like. Save a copy of the game lists folders as well as where all the images are located onto a pc as a backup. Then if it happens again you just need to overwrite the game lists and put the art back in the same place.

I remember back in the day with Hyperspin, you could just download the complete 'marques', 'box art', 'description' ETC and just dump that folder in the appropriate spot and it worked. is there any procedure like that for retropie?? =/
bigemugamer yes there are scraper tools 3rd party. Google Skraper and skyscraper
10 minutes into the video before he shows how to add box art
David Sainato Yes, please note the beginning adding metadata manually, (not including box art) , and the box art is done later in the video. Probably should have done it other way around since most people just care about the box art.
Helpful video! I added a description to a game and I can see it in the metadata in the retropie menu, but it doesn't show up on the screen when the game is highlighted. What am I missing?
Corey Fugate did you go into your “UI settings”, then “Gamelist view settings”, then change to detailed option
@@therexershow I did! Thank you so much!
You know the best way to add both boxart and metadata to romsets? Manually its impossible and doing it with the scrapper takes forever an there is a lot of wrong covers.
Gollot Well the only way is a scraper to be honest. You could compile your own scraper tool and build your own database, but thats probably not an option since that would take forever too. I have little success with scraper tools and unfortunately if you add 800 roms from a set, it would take forever to add manually. I try to use a combination, but then its hard to be consistent. I spent a lot of time just making box art and i dont have that many roms on my Pi. Maybe 200 total across all systems.
How you get your images for box art. Do you just download it from Google images to your computer and then go from there?
C.Foster I made some of them myself from online images , but yes , you need to go search online for box art bundles. They are out there.
Take a look here - thumbnailpacks.libretro.com/
Can I send you my retropie SD card so you can do this for me? haha.
I have a few GBC games that for the life of me I can't get the boxart for and it's driving me crazy. I'm new to this pie scene and its a little overwhelming.
I’d like to help but it’s too risky to send your image and sd card in the mail. Did you use a scraper tool to try and get the boxart? The 3rd party scraper tools are pretty good.
How can you hide game information after adding it.
Vonda Davis you can hide the whole game with the parse game list tool. Or you can just delete the data from the gamelist.xml file. But depending on the theme you use , you may still see words like “Players” , but with no info.
please reply me i have got only the gamelist of retropie .how do make appear the others ?
sorry for the elementary language but i normally don't speak english
samuele ceci you have to add the roms to the folders inside the “roms” folder then restart emulation station
samuele ceci and make sure you are looking for gamelists inside of the emulation station folder
samuele ceci if you used a scraper tool like skyscraper, some of them put the gamelists inside the roms folders
He didnt say where he got the actual image files from....where do i find them?
Dino P A couple things on this. You can grab the images anywhere on Google. Launchbox actually has packs of box art, all kinds. But the main way to get the images is use a scraper tool , like skyscraper or Skraper. Those tools add the box art into your folders for you. ANything they missed or didn’t have , can be added manually. The box art you see in this video is custom made in photoshop. Myself and a couple others are the only ones who have or use this arcade box art style.
More volume on your mic please
how do I access the games. xml?
you want the "gamelist.xml" associated with any console. They gamelists are in opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/gamelists. Or i think you can go home/pi/configs/emulation/gamelists. But you need to SSH/FTP into your Pi and access the files that way . If you don't know hot to SSH to you pi, google ETA PRIME SSH TO Raspberry pi.

I dont have an emulationstation file? Can u help?
mark bullerwell If you’re missing files or folders in FTP, try going to options, preferences, then somewhere in there is “show hidden files”. Check that and then all your hidden files will show. I think that’s the menu directory for the show hidden files. Not at my pc right now, but didn’t want you to wait for an answer.
@@therexershow ok thanks I'll give it a try. If u could can u help walk me through that. I'm still pretty new to this.
mark bullerwell what Ftp software are you using ? Winscp , FileZilla, or other?
@@therexershow ya I wish I knew what u were talking about lol what's ftp?
