Just saw a Barkov injury update. It’s a bad sprain but no significant damage so he is “week to week” at the moment
That usually means there's a lot of swelling, once it goes down they'll take another look and see what the actual damage is.
2 week minimum then.
@@TheHockeyGuy That's right there in the name....week two week.
(Just making a dumb joke, I'll see myself out.)
That’s a relief
That's great news at this point. Really hope nothing more serious will be discovered later 🙏
Celebrini looked incredible out there, for an 18 year old #1 center, it’s honestly very surprising how well he played
Celebrini looks like a 20+ goal scorer and 50+ point player in his rookie season
For sure, I was taken by how he played like he had experience even in his debut game
Yea he also got absolutely blown past on the OT winner...
@@theScotian24he’s a rookie so definitely not perfect, but still a very impressive first game
Ya i believe he will break out later in time
Hopefully they weren’t making Lavoie travel back and forth between Edmonton and Vegas during this saga
He would be getting a lot of frequent flyer miles if he did 😂.
@@kevinstull8552 now vegas can just send him down. this is done.
It certainly felt like we were watching a tennis rally.
Be nice to see Kahkonen get his game back. The Sharks really took something out of him. 🤔
played junior hockey w Mikko, so hopefully he feels comfortable joining my Avs. Can't get any worse than Fourgiev!
@@petrpumpkineater He seems a good guy, I felt bad about his time as a Shark. Be nice to see him show his true capabilities as an Av.
He was good in Minnesota. Really hoping he has a return to form in CO
He played really good behind Talbot for Minnesota then fleury came and ruined it
@@petrpumpkineaterWell. Half of Vegas' goals came off the Avs just not covering the rush. That doesn't do anyone any favors
It's wild that Liljegren and Sandin were once hyped up as the future of Toronto's blueline.
LAk for Turcot,
NYi for Wahlstrm or prospect W.Dufou,
NYr for Z.Jones or A. Edstrm,
Phi for prospect E.Andrae or - for 1 of A.Ciernik or Tuomaal + a 4th Rdr
SJ for one of their prospects - Mukhamadull, Gushchn, Cardwel, or B.Coe
@@mannyoliveira776think you’re over estimating how much you can get for a guy making 3 mil per on a short contract.
Not really. Same ol Leafs
Only leaf fans hyped them up lol
A couple of the guys I referenced are UFAs next summer, & they are all 3rd or 4th line fwds or 3rd pair D at best (good players tho), and Lilljgrn is still a #4/5 Dman (who could play on PP #2 & still young), that can either play on the 2nd pair or 3rd pair. He's going to stay in the NHL, the other prospects I mentioned might spend time in both AHL/NHL. So I think there not big asks. Why can't they resign Lilljgrn if things work out - say 2 - 4 yrs if he fits in well there? That happened with Durz.
Well I hope Hellebuyck enjoys playing 75+ games this season and gets blamed for the team giving up on him in the playoffs
@@ThirdEye3pic I doubt he plays 75 games, he will get injured if he plays that much
That Guenther kid would look nice in a Vancouver jersey, damn..
Wouldn't you be saying that for every player (aside from Mark Messier)?
Benning would have drafted someone else. He would have found another Virtanen some how.
but then you wouldn't have garland.
@@doaftheloaf and OEL..oh wait :P
@@doaftheloaf Well, everybody can see clear as day that Guenther is the better player by far, as much as it hurts to admit it
That OEL trade will forever haunt Vancouver. Every single person knew Guenther would be a special player. Just another Jim Benning masterclass trade.
I thought it was interesting that Kyle Connor set an NHL record by scoring in seven straight opening-night games.
So Edmonton just loses a player because two teams teamed up to coordinate waiver claims... Weird the second team suddenly no longer wanted the player.
It's gotta be the stupidest rule ... Vegas shouldn't have been allowed to re-claim him. And then, for further insults, they can just send him to the AHL. How is this even a thing... the lawyers who wrote this up and approved it should all be fired.
Thank you for clearing things out about Lavoie's circus. After 2 offer sheets, I guess Bowman won't have it easy.
Vancouver just knows the Flyers panic when playing backup goalies. I expect to count 10 high and wides in tonight's game.
Like how did you shoot it 8' over the goalie? I was aiming for the corner. Of what, the rink?
To the best of my knowledge the only injury on the Avalanche is that there is more holes in our defense and goaltending than a golf course. I’m maybe a bit surprised but I’m totally on board with this move! It will set a fire 🔥 under Georgiev to step it up or risk being traded. It will force Annunnen to step it up or go back to the AHL. I would be thrilled if Kappy started against Columbus after that frustrating start in Vegas.
Between this and the three goalies the Avs drafted this year, seems like they are trying to send a message to the current tandem.
@@ProdigalPunker I think we have the most right now. We have 6 between the Avs and Eagles. Redwings have 5 (3 on roster, 2 on 2-way AHL contracts) not sure if any other team has the 5 mark.
It looks like I may have been wrong about Guenther. After seeing him in the WHL, I just didn't see him as "that much better" than some of the other guys. But he seems to have elevated his game. Now he's looking like he might be a steal!
I’ve been watching him closely since the draft. I live in Tucson, saw him live playing for the Roadrunners and watched his performance in the NHL last season. I praised the contract the moment it was signed.
Was right there with you. Mostly because he looked like he couldn’t skate well. He’s done a lot to improve his explosiveness.
@@EveryTimeIDavid , yeah his skating didn't look all that impressive, but WOW that shot. He was fanning on a lot of shots I saw him take a couple years ago, but he's been zinging it!
What the Avs have in mind is moving on from Georgiev if they can. He just isn’t consistent enough to be a starting goalie
Avs aren't paying him starting goalie pay anyway.
He's a mess.
Let’s go Utah!
And celebrini to injured reserve. Man it’s tough being a sharks fan.
THE RING GENERAL, GUENTHER!
On a website I'd never heard of, I saw a trade proposal of Timothy Liljegren (2 years remaining at $3 million) for Rasmus Ristolainen (3 years at $5.1 million) and a fourth-round pick. This gave me a good laugh. A 4th is not worth an extra $9.3 million of bad contract. Why would Toronto make this trade?
With the Leafs being $1 UNDER the cap, this won't happen
@@scottyblades666 I did know that. I would hope it doesn't happen no matter the cap space.
Way to go Vegas!
Drouin is injured in Avs as well.
Describing Georgiev and Annunen as "entrenched" is definitely too strong. No one in Colorado wants to see a repeat of last years goalie situation. I was very happy to see Georgiev get pulled after 5 goals on 16 shots in the opener. Unacceptable
Celebrini is terrifying with the puck on his stick. Reminds me of young Kane. He is much scarier than Bedard at this point.
and to get an assist from Gretzky's office in his first period is pretty good
I didn’t want to say it because I would come off as biased, but he looked NOTICEABLY better than Bedard in any game I saw in his rookie season (outside of that one 4 point game against Tampa).
Good ol comment section. 1 game and hes better
Edmonton still gets Lavoie every second weekend.
Interesting that when Edmonton tried to waive and claim Lavoie, a third party got involved, but when Vegas wanted him, the third party of a sudden doesn't want him anymore. I'm starting to think the other GMs really do hate Bowman. I'm joking.......mostly haha
Liljegren getting 3 mil per to not play. Leafs nation is still confused about that extension.
Anze Kopitar is on pace for 246 goals...
I think Celebrini is 2nd fastest after Lemieux, not 1st.
You are correct. Rare slip up for Shannon, but he got this one wrong. Lemieux scored at 2:59 and Celebrini scored at 7:01. I
Edit. I can't remove the time stamps but they are irrelevant to the video. lol.
@@drwahooka349 If you want to remove the timestamps you can tweak the format. 2m59s and 7m1s. I don't think it's a problem to keep it as is, though.
@@drwahooka349 Shannon said in terms of ice time not time elapsed in the game.
"In terms of ice time"
@@drwahooka3497:01…. #71…. COINCIDENCE???
Makes me sad the jets kept comrie, he has never been good and he will still continue to be the same. Not the back up I would have thought we'd stick with
Are we sure Lavoie didn’t get waived and claimed again during this video🙃?
As a Guenther fantasy owner I am very happy 😂. Kid looks like a star
Liljegren would be a good fit for the Marlies...
Losing Kahkonen might look like a setback for Winnipeg, but not really.
They gave up no assets to sign 2 UFA goalies as their potential backup, As not one of the richest teams, they aren't paying the guy who lost 1 million real dollars to take starts away from their developing goalies in the AHL.
Kahkonen looked OK in Winnipeg, mostly scrimmage and practice I watched. I thought we could live with him as G #2. He was notably overshadowed by Comrie, who looks about the same as he did in his previous 2 stints. What has Colorado got up their sleeve now?
Lavoie's new nickname is pingpong😅
well...if it makes you feel any better... Vancouver probably would have picked up Tyler Boucher lol :P ...or at least thinking that could make you feel better!
My gut is telling me Liljegren goes to Utah. No reason just a feeling.
Edmonton could use Liljegren...but no cap space...
Trading Lilly will prove to be a mistake for the Leafs, calling it now
Kahkonen should come back to Minnesota
Liljegren's career's a mess at this point. He was so good so young, they barely gave him any chance for a while... and then he starts getting hurt and now he's a shell of himself. Not a good sign for his career at this point.
Petry down so Holl up. Re-arranging the deck chairs. Quit screwing around Y. Fester has to go.
How did Vegas take him back, he was supposed to go right into the minors without clearing after the oilers got him back.
Another team claimed him, so he had to go on waivers.
@@JayDeeMC guy most feel like a ping pong ball
There’s no other team in this league that’s going to help Stan Bowman out . That is why there was a second claim so that Vegas was able to reclaim him. It’s just a bunch of GM’s getting together to go against the Oilers . All you have to do is look back to the offer sheet. Nobody wants Stan Bowman in this league.
