    Thx a lot.
I followed your instructions step by step and succeeded to replace the crank cord without any issues.
I had to drill the 2 upper screws so the mecanism could get out of the tube. I replaced the screws with a tyrap for the moment.

We replaced the crankshaft cord this weekend. We followed Nick’s video exactly and all went well. We literally stopped the video at each step until we completed and then we moved on. Well done video.

My cord just broke today and was feeling bummed out about trying to figure it out and potentially messing it's up. Thanks for posting the video.

Great video! It was very helpful.
Putting the casing back together was a nightmare, but with some patience we manage to get through it!
    Thanks!

Looks I'm the first one that needed this guy in order to fix my umbrella. I'll be doing this project next weekend when my cord comes in. Nice job!! Thanks for the video. I'd be SOL if you didn't post this.....

It turned out fantastic. I already had it all torn apart by the time I saw this helpful bit on youtube, so my repair was a bit more complicated than his, but I used his steps and successfully repaired our cantilever umbrella, like a rockstar!!

      I have an older model
No screws in the hand crank- Got any advice

Clarification: Mine is an old Shade Depot 13 ft side crank. It appears that one cord raises and deploys the umbrella. The cord is tied inside the hand crank spool, traverses the pulley system and ties somewhere inside the umbrella center.

Would you or anybody leaving comments here happen to know of someone that is in the business of doing repairs on the Treasure Garden AKZ-13 Cantilever umbrella, the one pictured in this video and not their newer updated version. My issue is that as the umbrella is being cranked up, when it gets near to being fully open, the cord gets VERY HARD to crank and you get the feeling like you might snap the cord because the tension is so high. Treasure Garden has been little help in helping me find someone in the Sacramento area that can figure out what is binding up as it reaches full open and get it repaired for me. In fact I was told that this "issue" is why they went with a totally new design in their newest 13' Cantilever umbrella.

My AKZ umbrella won’t fully close - the grip hub won’t slide all the way down to the crank handle, it sticks about two feet above it (it makes a metallic sound where it sticks). Is this caused by a problem with the crank side cord or the deployment cord side? Thank you.

Thank you for this video. We unfortunately created the mess that you warned against with the pulleys...they all fell out and we now need help to know how to get that casing put back together. Any advise?

What is the bottom cord connected to. I seem to have a cord that’s connected to the lower part of that shaft that snapped

There are two cords on this umbrella. The cord that comes out of the bottom is the Deployment cord. Here is a link to that video for you. ua-cam.com/video/6S89UNL6Z7U/v-deo.html

Hi George. Here is the direct link to the replacement cord for the AKZ Crankside cord replacement. The cord comes directly from Treasure Garden and is what they use on their umbrellas. www.casualfs.com/product/crank-side-cord/

Replacement cord $35 in this video and Amazon has some cords for $10, does anyone know the difference? I've noticed that the original patio umbrella cord is stiff and behaves like a wire, would a regular paracord work?

    • @casualfurnituresolutions7564
      @casualfurnituresolutions7564  5 місяців тому

This is cord directly from the factory and is what they use on the umbrellas. It has a very high tensile strength that paracord will not hold up to because of the wind and strain that is put on the cord.

After watching that it is obvious that paying the dealer $100 to fix it is the better option!
