I've been finding my geographical science course pretty difficult in college, my motivation was slipping but with these high quality, entertaining videos I've gotten that passionate interest back!! Thanks alot for that and keep up the great work!
I just had to do a job in MI that needed RTK so this video was perfect - I was able to connect easily to the MI CORS network using almost exactly the settings you provided.
It took me 6 months of learning Pix 4d Mapper and using an Enlid RS3 Rover to create a point cloud for 3D measuring. This video cleared up a lot of Enlid information I was not understanding. Thank you for putting out your educational and entertaining videos. You are a Teachers teacher. WISCONSIN
I do aerial mapping with UAVs and have been recommending your videos left and right to my clients who ask me about how ground control setting and GPS surveying works. Your content is great, keep it up!
Another great video Rami. In Mississippi you can get free access to 1 station and that station can not change. Tennessee only offers paid access and it is expensive. I think Florida has one of the best free networks in the USA. So for many states in the USA it is more cost effective to buy two Emlid Reach RS/ RS2 devices and use your own Base/Rover NTRIP setup for RTK like your previous video. With the RS (L1 only) they would simply need to use a Jetpack to provide Internet access to the Device. I have found that Tmobile has the best low data rates you can find which is what I use in my RS2 units.. With 2 units folks just need to plan ahead and do PPK processing on the Base unit if they want true RTK with a Base that is broadcasting with absolute accuracy. Keep the awesome videos coming! You have an awesome channel.
Sadly, here in Texas RTKNet is locked down to either Trimble users or contractors for TXDOT. It has a hefty subscription fee as well. So like you said Tim, we operate two Emlid Units. I found these Unreal Mobile prepaid cards ($15) at Target work ok for 3g connectivity.
Hello Rami, very nice your video, here in Brazil we have a total of 133 stations to connect, it's a small amount due to the size of the country, but we are evolving. Greetings from Brazil !!
A great video would be comparing the CORS network vs having a personal base station and the difference with pros and cons. That would be an interesting video to watch.
I was asking myself the exact same thing. I suppose that a surveyor obtains the precise location of his base thanks to an Cors network, right? So that means that if you have an error of 2-3cm with the base station's location, every point recorded by the rover will have the same error, plus another error induced by the rover itself. So i guess that if a surveyor wants ABSOLUTE precision, he is better of using a cors network directly on the rover rather than his own basestation connected to a cors. But if a surveyor wants RELATIVE precision, he will be more precise with a basestation + a rover. Can someone confirm?
The closer you are to your "base station", the more accurate your position will be. Using CORS is very accurate, but if you have a local base station on an accurately measured known point that should be even more accurate than using CORS.
Thank you for your video. I found your explanation of CORS very easy to understand. I will share this video for anyone requiring training on how to setup the equipment. I think it will also be useful to share your GNSS settings for EMLID. At the same time, how long do you average your measurement (less than 5 minutes) to obtain precise location and the coordinate system that you use. Many people find this difficult to understand and make mistakes including myself when I started working using EMLID.
Great video. In Argentina NTRIP is working very good. I have used it few times and it saved me a lo of field work time. What i normaly do is measure a point with ntrip, and then use that one as a base point for my recivers, so my work is already georeferenced. Greetings from the south..
Here in Mexico we have Cores from INEGI, but you can just download de RINEX, doesn't have NTRIP. I hope you make a video showing how to posproces a static point using RINEX from a core and from the Emlid Rover.
We find that using our Trimble and Topcon gear with NTRIP they are drastically more susceptible to losing fix around obstructions and overall drastically less accurate. Still awfully handy for many applications though... Just not for final staking in a "fine grade" situation!
Rami, could this method benefit by using the base on a known point (benchmark) and receive corrections from a cors network? Or would PPK make more sense?
PLEASE, make a video telling about how to work with GNSS receiver and Total Station at local system. I mean, how do you place a point using RTK GNSS and then use the same point for total station to stakeout a building for example. How do you apply the "K" scale factor to points, so you can work with GNSS and Total Station for the same project? When working with GNSS and UTM coordinates, there are always a difference in distance and coordinates compared to total station. How to overcome this? Sorry for this basic question, but you are the right guy to make a video about this topic. Thanks!
Rami he do you get a 3rd dime Timon in another plane on a surface ie you have x and y but how do you point a z value for example the corner of a door for referencing guns into point cloud scan data
Is it possible to setup your own cors network in an area that already has an existing network?? Let’s say the one that’s currently existing only covers a small area and you want to setup one that will cover the entire state.
Is there a distance issue using CORS over cellphone? Everything I've read said 6 Km or less. How does distance effect a correction signal sent over the internet?
Very informative! I watched the P4P vs P4RTK with GCP's. This one introduced the COORS network. Will you consider doing a video using an RTK drone, a Base/Rover unit utilizing COORS and setting out GCP's? I'm interested in seeing the unit going from a COORS Rover, setting up the GCP's to a COORS base and then the drone becoming the rover. Thanks.
Considering the distance between rover and vrs base (+9000 km acoording to the screen) I hoped less accuracy in fixed data. We learn that we have 1 mm for each km between base and rover... Or that doesn't work in vrs NTRIP mode?
That must be an error, the VRS is a virtual station calculated around your position from a network of real bases. From 150-300km away it would be hard to get a fix.
Is there no problem to travel with the receiver as a hand luggage? I think in battery risk or even pass thru x rays and officers asking questions about what that device is?
I also live in Michigan and am looking at the exact same document you are and entering in all the info correctly and have a stable internet connection to my controller and my rover (DJI) drone with RTK, but no matter what port or mount point I try, it always fails to connect. Its driving me nuts. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Rami why are those gnss receivers so cheap compared to a name brand receivers ? Also how much were the import taxes on your receivers? Also, would you recommend these receivers for some one who is just starting out? Your videos are awesome! Keep them coming !
What do you mean by taking 10 shots and averaging them? Are you shootijg ground control or are you taking 10 shots at each location and averaging the results?
Rami I have topcon base and rover and fc5000 controller how can i use mdot or what other companies can i use here in california. So i can just use my rover and not my base station ?
Rami what an amazingly helpful video! Quick question: how do you manage to connect your iphone to the Rs2 without using the wifi connection? My iphone x will not connect via bluetooth. In the emlid user forum, it seems that iOS does not support bluetooth connection to the Emlid, but in your video, it looks like your iphone is still connected to the verizon network for internet. Do you have the time to explain this to me?
@@tszabon These things are able to resolve their positions to a cm by making use of the GNSS carrier wave whereas the ordinary receivers just use the code. The "corrections" transmitted via NTRIP and received by his rover are simply code and carrier wave measurements made by the base or computed by a software in case of VRS, FKP, etc.
Didn't expect that. If you want to get out and do some REAL surveying outside of a flat campus or manicured backyard, you have a standing invitation to join me in the backwoods of NH and really put that kit to the test! Don't worry, I usually carry a compass so it's unlikely we'd get lost. lol.
Why can't the iPhone correct its own GNSS using CORS?? IPhone is a dual frequency GNSS receiver- albeit not high grade, and it's an internet device that can get CORS directly. Why can't it do RTK on its own GNSS; does it just need someone to write the app??
WE watch you often and thank you for your work. How about flying to Texas or California and UNBOXING a Rover/Data Collector sent from say...China, and then using a Trimble/Leica/Topcon or similar PAID NTRIP NETWORK SUBSCRIPTION that includes a SIM card that gets inserted into the Data Collector (The data collector that came out of the box) and then GOING THROUGH the steps to obtain FIXED RTK via just the new GNSS Receiver/Data Collector/Sim card and the Subscription based NTRIP. You wouldn't NECESSARILY need to do that from Texas or California OTHER than to PROVE and SHOW how IT CAN BE DONE and then ALSO go to the CALIFORNIA-TRANS Agency and get their FREE service and CHANGE to that FREE service in the SAME VIDEO.
I've been finding my geographical science course pretty difficult in college, my motivation was slipping but with these high quality, entertaining videos I've gotten that passionate interest back!! Thanks alot for that and keep up the great work!

Always something new to learn. Keep it up bro. ❤️ from 🇧🇩
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. It's really useful and easy to understand.
Thank you so much Rami. Waiting anxiously for your next video. 👍🏻

Is it possible to get a video explaining the processing file observation static ?
Hi Rami, thank you for the beneficial information you gave us, would you explain how to do the same method in middle east (Saudi Arabia) please?
Great job Rami keep it up👍👍👍
Great explication, Thank you Sir
Thank you a lot!!
@Rami Tamimi Could you explain how passive GNSS data works?
Excellent video as usual
Anxiously waiting ✋
Brilliant and eloquent explanation Thanks buddy.
One extra question outside GPS/GNSS, that's Leica ' sets of Angel' if possible . Thanks
Waiting👍
i love it Rammi, laugh on us
One thing I've not seen/heard you discuss is grid vs. ground distances. It looks like you do everything in grid. Your thoughts on this?
Can you review the walker rtk and compare it with the rs2?
currently utilizing ODOTs RTK for my robot mower!
We find that using our Trimble and Topcon gear with NTRIP they are drastically more susceptible to losing fix around obstructions and overall drastically less accurate. Still awfully handy for many applications though... Just not for final staking in a "fine grade" situation!
Rami-
Any experience with the Reach RX unit?
Great video. Greetings from Ecuador.
Great Video!
Great job, many thanks
Could you do a video showing how to find coordinates of section corners that are on imbedded in roads in Michigan?

Hi Mr Rami how are you? I have a question what type of program do you have on your iPhone and can I use the iPhone 12?
Great channel!

Thanks great job keep it coming
Incredible content! Thank you!
The pdf in the email from mdot is not working looks like I will have to call to try and link for my M3T!
Thank you for your help keep up the great Job!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
How accurate is this compared to a typical base station and rover setup?
Is it possible to setup your own cors network in an area that already has an existing network?? Let’s say the one that’s currently existing only covers a small area and you want to setup one that will cover the entire state.
Your videos are very helpful. Thank you for this. I am still learning to improve the accuracy. Do you know how to use the CORS network in Paraguay?
Is there a distance issue using CORS over cellphone? Everything I've read said 6 Km or less. How does distance effect a correction signal sent over the internet?

Is it possible to do this with the NGS CORS network as well?
Is it possible to connect two rovers to the cor station and at the same time both to the reachriew3 to collect points?

Ntrip in Texas is $500 a month or $1500 a year
In Ecuador is free.

Is this also applicable for D-RTK 2 GNSS Mobile Station?
Awesome video, thanks for sharing ;)
is it possible to do the same with emlid rs+ ?
What do you mean by taking 10 shots and averaging them? Are you shootijg ground control or are you taking 10 shots at each location and averaging the results?
The GNSS receiver is measuring the same location 10 times, and averaging the 10 observations into one.
do you need a SIM card in the Rover for NTRIP?
in texas?🤝🙏
Great job 👌
Rami
I have topcon base and rover and fc5000 controller how can i use mdot or what other companies can i use here in california. So i can just use my rover and not my base station ?
Do you need a sim card for cors network? If so, does the Emlid come with one or do you have to get one with a specific wireless provider?
Rami what an amazingly helpful video! Quick question: how do you manage to connect your iphone to the Rs2 without using the wifi connection? My iphone x will not connect via bluetooth. In the emlid user forum, it seems that iOS does not support bluetooth connection to the Emlid, but in your video, it looks like your iphone is still connected to the verizon network for internet. So in RS2 I added my hotspot information. So everytime I use the units, I turn on the hotspot on my phone and connect to the devices and to NTRIP
Great videos! can you show how to take ground control points using emlid rs2 for photogrametry? greetings from Peru!
Thank you, Rami, for these educational videos. My question is, do you have a page on Facebook where you publish information about geodesy?
I really should start one. I just have a community page for all my followers to interact with.
Is CORS the same as GNSS?
My understanding is that you do the same process in 2 different locations.
True ?
Is there any way to set up a standard GPS or smart phone to do corrections for higher accuracy?
The basic requirement for RTK is that the GNSS receiver must be able to make phase measurements.
@@jwangosho Could you explain?

Love ya bro!
I don't catch the difference between base location and mountpoint.
The NTRIP protocol (Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol)
We call it Active Geodetic Network System (AGNS).....
your pole is in meters
America: *cries inside*
thx
Interesting

If there is no CORS we can use PPP
how to export file ?
Anyone tried to connect iPhone 13/14 to CORS? There must be an app for that, no? Then a cellphone/ iPhone becomes its own RTK base station.

Man you are exposing geodetic secrets and job tips, you'll make surveying jobs taken by other people. What are you doing exactly?
There’s really no secret. I’m educating people in an entertaining way.
