well, if there are any recognizable characteristically russian colour types of diamonds, that could happen. but natural diamonds are going to drop in value anyway, since artificial diamond production processes have been advancing leaps and bounds in the last ten years or so. it used to be that artificial diamonds were ao imperfect that they were only useful for industrial processes (mostly as relatively fine grit for grinding tools), then they started making tiny gem diamonds, and nowadays synthetic gem diamonds are roztinely produced in really as big a size as can be considered at all reasonable for jewellery. they can either already be made bigger than the biggest natural diamonds, or they will in very few years' time. I don't know what they can do in terms of colours, but I would guess that aome variations are probably not a big additional hurdle. besides, I think the general public image of diamonds is such that most people expect them to be white and do value white diamonds relatively high compared to many colour types. anyways, if you want a sparkly faceted stone, get a moissanite - they're even sparklier.
