  • Zac Marion and I did the West Slabs loop on Mt Olympus in Salt Lake City, UT. Solid day, saw some goats, and bagged a peak.

Where is the trailhead at to get to the starting point?

You can get there a couple of different ways. There is a cul de sac in Olympus Cove where there is a trailhead. That is really only conducive to doing the slabs as an up and back (you come down a chute to the east). The other way is to start at the Mt Olympus trailhead on Wasatch Blvd and hike up to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and take that east. It then turns into the trail that goes up to the west slabs. At the top of the slabs you follow the ridge east until you see a cairn to take you off the south side (you don't want to go to the North summit). The cairn sort of gets you down into the saddle between the two summits. Do some route finding to the main summit then take the normal trail down. You can find lots of tracks of the route on Strava.
