Glad you didn't sell it in the end, they are fantastic bikes and I reckon it's worth far more than £1800. Don't think I could part with mine. Taking it to Wales for first time in August to ride some of those famous trails...can't wait.
Ahh its gone now 😔. My mate who was supposed to show up saw the vid and turned up 2days later . I agree with you think they worth farr more just for how much money has depreciated with inflation. He had a bargain in the end at 1700 . Even though it looked bit rough it had many new ome parts on it . Have a blast in wales 👍👍👍
Hi i have the dr350se and would like to upgrade the rear shock and at least fork springs. Would you recommend your setup. I only do light trail and gravel but at 14st i can easily bottom the bike out and could just do with a slightly stiffer setup.Watching the vid slowly I can see your bike dosen't completely compress the suspension and maintains control. cheers
Hi thanks for watching. The stock suspension was always a issue and my rear shock did blow out . I replaced the rear with a yss emultion shock from brooks suspension also front springs yss progressive, rear was ok and would recommend but the front was still to soft even shimmed it out 30mm and heavy oil. Was better than stock but unfortunately not great . I weigh 12st . Hope its of some help 👍👍👍
Hi mate, I’m looking for a dual sport I can commute on locally and also have some fun on, which would you recommend between the XR400 and the DR350? Thanks
If you can find an XR400 . PROS AND CONS . I HAVE A DR350S. ACTUALLY THE XR400 IS A DIRT BIKE AND IS A LITTLE BIT FASTER DUE TO ITS WEIGHT. BUT NOW IF YOUR GONNA COMMUTE ON THIS THING MY OPINION THE DR350S MIGHT BE A LITTLE BETTER ON THE STREETS DUE TO BEING A LITTLE BIT HEAVIER. THEV400 WILL BE PUSHED AROUND A LITTLE MORE ON THE BIG ROADS .....
I impulsively bought a DR350 last year with no previous motorbiking experience! I tried kick starting it a couple of times and it's just sat in the shed ever since buying it! Do you service bikes for others? I picked up on your accent straight away, and I'm based in South Wales if you would be interested in taking a look at the bike for me?
Hi 🖐thanks for watching my vids . I wish i had more time at home then i would repair bikes for people unfortunately im away with work commitments. The dr is a very durable engine sure it wont take much to get it running. If you can check for spark ⚡️ and its there then you nearly there then its just a case of getting fuel in there usually means a carb build . Check for spark ⚡️ by earthing plug , drain carb bowl and give it a bump start . Hope thats of some help .
I need to find myself an XR600. I've never had the chance to ride one either. how does it feel compared to the XR400 or XR650R? Your 650R is gorgeous by the way!
Hi thanks the Xr650r took me 16months to do but it was worth it. The xr600r is my fav its very similar to the 400 just more torque and feels stronger all round , mine feels as if its a bit lazy engine slower reving than the 400 but you dont realise how fast you going till its to late . Then the Xr650r is totally different more power torque faster all round somehow it even feels lighter than the 600 , will have to weigh them to find out 😀
@@OldDirtBikes nice…I really do need one! My 400 is my bread and butter bike right now. Works good for me being 5’8” and riding mostly tight woods but my 650R is just too much fun. When I feel like wrestling the bear I’ll take it on local single track and get my workout in lol…respecting it at every blip of the throttle. A few times I almost got myself hurt on that bike! Just a good reminder how much power that thing makes. The 600 would be a nice in between I would think.
What is that sound right when you give it gas after shifting ? Sounds like a tap noise my bike does it as well. Only in low rpms. What did you do for work to this bike ? Please respond my Dr is in excellent condition would like to know if the noise is normal
Hi these dr are are great what a reliable bike , this one had a hard life from day one and still pulls strong and never had a engine build just the servicing . Its the model with pumper carb as stock also i think gear ratios are closer and diff cam compared to the more road oriented model . I agree with you about the ticking sound it really bugs me to , i think it was the decompresser shaft on the engine as cable was missing on it . I have now sold this bike . But when i was working on my xr400 i found this out , the xr engine was very sweet no ticking at all then i serviced it , started it and immediately had the same ticking as the dr had then i saw the decomp was not connected with me 🙄 connect it back adjusted and all quite again . As the cable was missing on my dr I believe that loose decomp arm in the rocker cover was the culprit. I have since informed the new owner . As for work i did on this was , new carb as original had broken pumper lever , shock, springs, exhaust, kick start , some plastics , clutch plates , cables , also coil and lead . 😀hope this helps 👍👍👍
Hi i did struggle with parts for this bike myself. Some like suspension parts i had to wait 4 months as they had to be made or so they said . Brooks suspension uk CMS motorcycle parts ( form ome parts Suzuki) based in netherlands Europe ET JAMES Suzuki mid wales uk ( not sure if they have web site now as they were very much old school ) Ebay Hope some of this helps 👍
@OldDirtBikes Nice, Sir ! Where I live, my state won't approve it for being street legal. But I know it's a little different, but it does have some of the DNA of an R . As long you're willing to crack those cases, you will be just a little behind of the R model . I'm not gonna cry about being 2 to 5 seconds slower . Right now, I have a 1980 DR350S, and it's a great bike . Why did they ever decide to ditch that bike for the DRZ ? It is beyond my understanding . A taller bike is not really that faster . It's uncomfortable and another thing that can go wrong in the sticks . Actually, the DR has better torque than the DRZ does. I wish they would bring back the DR350S back . Storke it, bring up the bore just a little . Keep it, carbureted. I'm not a fan of fuel injection on off-road vehicles . It's nice when it works, but if something goes wrong, it goes bad to worse quickly .
@@brianrahuba6919 we in the uk never had the L model I actually never seen one. But from what i have seen on line read etc they would be more beneficial for me recently as my 600 dose not see much dirt 😀. They great bike , but mine got a tapping rattling sound did you notice ? Had it 12yrs and always sounded like that , checked valve clearance all good so maybe camchain . 👍
There is a known problem with the balancer shaft locking pin working loose and the balancer tapping the crank/bigend. Eventual destruction. Theres a vid on youtube.
Well maybe but already spent to much on this , and if i do keep it i would want to rebuild top end . Prob is getting parts for it seems to be parts for the more road one not so much for this one 🙂
