Yeah, when I saw the Nuka Cola Machine my first thought was that it was such an awesome flavor reference to the game! Much better than just a generic Magic card with a Fallout name and art.
I'm so excited by the mutant menace deck. Payoffs for small amounts of mill is really intriguing. My only complaint is that they didn't reprint ruin crab as a mirelurk hatchling.

One thing to note about the energy deck is that there is also going to be a jeskai energy commander precon in MH3, and they've already shown that new energy cards will also be showing up in the regular set. So if you really like the energy theme and want to focus on that part of the deck, we may very well be getting a lot of new options coming up
While it is nice that their commitment to revitalizing the energy mechanic extended farther than just throwing Commander players one deck's worth of toys and leaving it at that, it feels like a shame that they just didn't want to commit fully to that playstyle in this precon. I'm not often the one to cry out "Oh, WOTC just releases half-baked products to sell you the missing pieces later", but I cannot deny that the construction of the Science! deck coupled with the abrupt release of another Commander product in the same colours released on a very short time-frame that has new, synergistic cards with the same niche mechanic, it feels like a hustle. Gives a bit of that "Congrats on buying our product, now buy the next one, you shmuck." air to it. It's not like it's the end of the world. That deck is actually pretty fun anyway. It's just that when you sell it at a premium like this and with it having a sales-pitch as strong as "The comeback of energy after 7 years", it's understandable to feel a little miffed at the fact that the energy part of the deck wound up feeling kinda underwhelming and being told that the next, premium-priced product is going to give you the solution is a bitter bit of cold comfort.
I played Scrappy Survivors today at my LGS. I haven't had that much fun playing MtG since long time! Absolutely in love with Dogmeat. Recommend grabbing it!
I love that you've actually played some of the games. Other reviewers were tripping and falling their way through pronunciations and completely unable to even comment on how excited they were as Fallout players.

Love the break down of each decks worth and value in both money and playability. Great descriptions and comparisons made to other universes beyond decks.
So far Dr.Who UB (Universe Beyond) was insanely fun since WOTC also added new Planechase cards to the decks. When it comes to Fallout decks I can't wait to get Science! because I have wanted to play a EDH Energy deck since Kaladesh, which was so long ago it feels like a fever dream... after watching the video: I still want Science! :P

The Science! deck isn't that bad. The energy synergy is indeed lacking, but in the punchy department it's no slouch! Without energy upgrades, I'd use Liberty Prime as the commander; with energy upgrades, Madison Li becomes a serius contender. The Mutant Menace is a league above, though.
Something that should be noted about the hail Caesar deck is that the secondary commander. Mr. House, more or less doesn't work with the deck. There are a couple treasure makers and a single other dice roller. (luck bobblehead) A fun looking commander but doesn't get much from the aristocrat theme.

I pulled apart the science deck and remade it better with cards from Kaladesh and Aether revolt…only 27 of the original cards (not including lands but I did fudge with the lands a bit) from the precon stayed. But the fact that we got a Jeskai Energy Artifacts matter deck is the best part to me. I’m playing today and can’t wait to see how good it is
Preordered Scrappy and Science and gonna upgrade Liberty prime to an energy/artifact theme with some blink effects to get a lot of energy. Will try to make the three dog deck in the future too!
I bought the four pack for my girlfriend and I to enjoy. She’s never played magic but she’s a huge fallout nerd and spent over an hour looking over the cards and gushing about the fallout lore and all the details in the cards.
These decks got my boyfriend to finally get into magic with the Dogmeat one. It's been EIGHT YEARS!! Never did I think I'd see the day. Thankful these decks made him "one of us" and now we have a local fourth in our playgroup :)
Hey prof, great content as usual! I really like the rad and junk mechanics! They feel very thematic and I wish we could see them again in the future, even though I struggle to imagine this wish becoming reality. I preordered the whole lot for 180 euro, which is approximately 49 dollars per deck. Now I just hope they’ll arrive!
Place I bought from sold them at 170, which is a little over 40 dollars each. All these 50-60-80 is 100% mark up. I can't imagine the place I bought from (a large online shop) was selling at a loss.
I pre-ordered the Scrappy Survivors deck for 40€ (about 45$ i think) because Dogmeat is a good boy and deserves all the love. Jokes aside, i think that it was a good deal at that price and i am still happy about it.

@@williamsimkulet7832 What are you talking about? Master Sets and FtV absolutely sold. Any time WotC has short printed something, stores have price gouged and still sold out and MSRP didn't mean shit. You're kidding yourself if you think WotC listing an MSRP will stop stores from jacking up prices when the opportunity presents itself. The fetchland Ultimate Edition is another thing that suffered from price gouging and was impossible to find. It was the Pathway one that didn't and it's no coincidence that was undesirable and over printed. To sum up: if demand outstrips supply, MSRP will not stop sellers from jacking up prices.
Just bought all 4 for $200 at my LGS. This set may not have the best value, but I really dig the art, nostalgia, and mechanics of this set. I’ve been wanting to buy a full precon set for a while, and even bling them out with custom sleeves & deck boxes.
I have played 4 matches with dog meat and have been dominant every game. I even pulled off a 1 hit kill on 5 turns with 2 lands. I doubt I’ll ever draw that well again but the deck feels really strong.
I stumbled on magic content a couple of weeks ago and am so hooked 😅 I bought Scrappy Survivors on a whim and have been playing Arena on PC. I’m so excited to actually play in person at some point!
I will say i got into magic due to friends at college, and i now i have a few magic decks, specifically commander. I also got into fallout because of them. So it is nice to see that most of the fallout decks are good, just need to possibly be cheaper. I wanted to get scrappy surviors because dogmeat was may favorite character, and it is nice to know that it might need some upgrades. Granted, almost all of my decks are upgraded precons soooo. Yeah. I also think that some of the cards in mutant mayhem could also work in a counters deck, like rad storm. I think that while most of these decks are good, the cards they have are kinda meant to help boost other decks already made. This could be why they are not as mana heavey as other univere beyond sets.
Played the Science precon recently. While it's a little saddening to see energy not get the love it deserves as a mechanic, the deck itself pilots pretty well. What I like the most about it is that both of the commanders offer something to players new and old. Dr. Madison Lee is great for newer players, since she gives them something to do at pretty much any point in the game and is very straightforward in her design. Liberty Prime, however, is very good in the hands of an established player, as it benefits the most from someone who understands sequencing to pull off effectively. I tried the robot, and it is a blast to play.
Thanks for the 'is it worth it' video! I always appreciate your honest opinion, even when I have already ordered produuct. I just received my decks that cost me 160 euro for all four and I'm really happy with them and excited to try them tomorrow with friends. I also can't wait to built three dog!!! I got even more excited by watching the trailer for the new Fallout series. As someone who never played the game, but appreciates the flavor on the cards, I bet the series will make me an even bigger fan of the flavor. :)
Would mean A LOT to me if you took a minute to watch our guide to building Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ here. There's a lot of cool insight and talk of Commander strategy: ua-cam.com/video/uf3C8L1Yy2w/v-deo.html
Bought all the fallout commander decks (after seeing this video from the Prof.), and looking forward to unboxing and showing them off in one of my next unboxing videos.
I respect your choice, but when they inevitably make Universe Beyond: Elder scrolls, I expect to hear how you needed to get the lucky 13 chip in order to shut down the portals to Oblivion and how Mr House was cast through time and is destined to destroy the world.
Been trying to get into magic over the past few months. I picked up the mothman deck last night but also want to get the legion deck especially after the video said its the best for new players. Now i just have to find a place to actually play at. 😅
Ended up preordering through TCGplayer when they had the special for all 4 at like $168. Really great value imo I can’t wait till they arrive in the mail
I really just want to get the Butch DeLoria card from these decks, so I can build an entire commander deck around saying "Tunnel Snakes Rule!" as often as possible.
What a shame the new cards are only legal in commander. I would love to make a modern (or other 60-card) Rad deck. My playgroup might let me kitchen table it but it always feels better to work within a format.
It's always so mindblowing listening to these when it comes to pricing, just as an example, each of these decks here (norway) goes for about 79.99 USD, while a full (say MKM or Outlaw) playbooster booster box goes for 215 USD. Importing is a heck
I preordered them for a total of $170 all together as a set, so that worked out to about $42.50 per deck, and I definitely think it was worthwhile, I can sit down and play with people that haven’t played before and have a relatively similarly powered deck to play against them automatically, and I think it’s great for that, plus it’s immensely flavourful
I cried when I saw The Master was included.... I wasn't expecting them to include much of anything from the classic games but they did, and as a secondary commander no less. He's powerful AND an accurate adaptation of his character. Slam dunk.
I wonder why he uses $50 when retail value for UB is $60. $50 is for normal sets. I also think that secondary commanders should always be mentioned even if they don't pilot more than the face.
Not trying to ever shill for Amazon, but when these were first announced you could pre-order the set for $160~ so only about $40 a deck. I typically pre-order the Universe Beyond decks as soon as they’re announced for this reason. You can usually lock them in at $40-$45 before the secondary market gouge begins.
I really like the scavy scavenger, played against, mutant and sciencse deck. Its really fun, and they all got good flavor. I have a tendency not to upgrade my univers beyound decks😅 i like my 40k cards to stay together, and the same with my lord of the rings 😅
I got the Science deck and upgraded with energy cards from Kaladesh. I loved energy back during that time in standard. It’s not nearly my strongest deck but after the upgrades it’s tons of fun.
I literally picked up two science decks and each one was under $26. so I would say, yes and that you can definitely pick each fall adeca for a decent price. My first fallout deck was Scrappy survivors, then mutant menace and science thereafter. I think I found myself liking science more than the others. Liberty prime makes a great backup commander, especially if you have fun playing with buckle up. The two backup commanders are actually pretty identical in function. or close enough that you're not going to see much of a difference beyond one being a vehicle and the other is a creature
Just a heads up to those interested in buying them, Wal-Mart has these decks marked up to $65.00. I would recommend looking at your LGS or online first and seeing where the lowest price is before going to a big box store.
Man, I want all of them. I feel virtually no pull to buy sealed magic products anymore, the exception being universes beyond commander precons. I wish I was this excited for the standard sets, but they just feel "thin" somehow compared to the days of three set blocks.
As a reminder, Amazon pre orders start the day the product is announced. You can preorder magic products without paying a dime before the products ship. All 4 fallout decks were $150 for WEEKS. Mine will be here on Monday, and the total price was $159.
It is worth noting if you pre ordered on Amazon much earlier since it is easy to cancel the prices where better before tax I paid for all 4 together from amazon 156.98 so 39.17 a deck. Granted I ordered back in October when it was announced.
I drove outside of town to see if I could get my hands on one of these decks, but not surprising they were all sold out. I did manage to get $30 worth of singles so I can build "the Hail, Caesar! deck at home" which just runs Kelsien, the Plague as the commander. But when I do get another chance at these, I'll be able to buy the one I want and get a discount on it too. Which is better than my original plan; trying to use a over a pound of metal bottle caps (worth 14 cents Canadian) to try to buy a single Fallout deck.

Liberty Prime is Red White and Blue. This not putting it into SSS tier is a crime.
Appreciate all the effort that the professor puts into these videos. Fantastic job
Most wholesome ad I've ever seen. Thanks for adding a smile to my day!

That was golden! Your humor is unmatched in the MTG world.
It has come to the point where I think the same way about Bethesda games.
I don’t play Magic, but you sir are a treasure of a man. Amazing content.
The Kaesar has marked you for death, and the Legion obeys!
I did a 4 way precon game at my FLGS today and managed to pilot scrappy survivors into a solid win by turbo charging dogmeat into an absolute menace
Would mean A LOT to me if you took a minute to watch our guide to building Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ here. There's a lot of cool insight and talk of Commander strategy: ua-cam.com/video/uf3C8L1Yy2w/v-deo.html
Watched. How about the Next deck tech: Shaun father of Synths, please :P
I definitely watched it! I genuinely LOVE your custom deck series including the budget precons! Appreciate you so much Prof!! ❤😊
I am currently sick and thought it really got to me, listening to the first part of the video, funny as always PROF
Been trying to get into magic over the past few months. I picked up the mothman deck last night but also want to get the legion deck especially after the video said its the best for new players. Now i just have to find a place to actually play at. 😅
Always a helpful and comprehensive review. Thanks, prof!
Ended up preordering through TCGplayer when they had the special for all 4 at like $168. Really great value imo I can’t wait till they arrive in the mail
My group played a fallout themed pod last night and I loved playing Dogmeat. Pre-War Formalwear was a great card to surprise my opponents with.
I payed 180 for all 4 about 45 a piece. My nephew is a huge fallout fan and is very excited to come over and play them likely this weekend
Best Keeps pitch I have ever heard. Thank you, you beautiful beautiful being.
You can usually lock them in at $40-$45 before the secondary market gouge begins.
i'm glad i was able to pick up the mothman deck at my LGS for a bit over $50+tax
Store I used to work at is charging 70+ for each deck
I’ve been playing Magic for just over two months now. I’ve using the Dogmeat deck a lot and it’s been fairly effective
I really like the scavy scavenger, played against, mutant and sciencse deck. Its really fun, and they all got good flavor. I have a tendency not to upgrade my univers beyound decks😅 i like my 40k cards to stay together, and the same with my lord of the rings 😅
When I went to Walmart the other day. The decks are $65.
Just picked up all four Fallout Decks with sleaves for $175 at my local shop. I am loving the art and I cant wait to find more people to play with!
I’m so happy I was able to preorder the set for 150 on Amazon
Think my price was 164, I put my order in back in October.
@@registereduserSame
Fallout Science- "Man, I wished I had more energy cards."
Modern Horizons 3- "Hello there!"
been a fallout fan since new vegas and i have been a mtg card player for almost 10 years so for me this is a match made in heaven
Thank you for always mentioning that MSRP would be so helpful in standardizing pricing for these products.
It is worth noting if you pre ordered on Amazon much earlier since it is easy to cancel the prices where better before tax I paid for all 4 together from amazon 156.98 so 39.17 a deck. Granted I ordered back in October when it was announced.
Managed to snag the set at ~45$ per deck. Can't wait to test them out!
“Mutant Menace” was my pick when I decided to preorder one, and was only $48! Such a fun deck, love the new rad counter mechanic
i am one of the people who bought 2 of the decks JUST because it's fallout. Never played magic before. But now I'm hooked!
