Great video, however I was under the impression that the lock nut & washer on the pressure plate had to be removed and the pressure plate bolts had to be turned 2 turns (loosening or tightening) at a time . I just put mine back together yesterday and do I have to go back inside and adjust the #1 Push Rod which is a very important step to get it ADJUSTED before you even put the cover back on. And Don't over tighten the Pressure Plate Bolts or the Clutch Cover Bolts, both should be snug, or you will strip them and on the pressure plate I had a friend helping and the damn pressure plate (2) bolt broke off at the clutch basket and it cost like 2 times as much to replace the springs and the basket!
Thanks for the tutorial. I feel confident to replace my clutch on my 2000 v star 650. But...Damn, I just changed my oil 2 weeks ago. Well, another oil change coming soon.
Very well done. Thank for. Thank and make it look so easy but one thing if any. Temp to do this watch careful watch it more then just once look at. The detail very wisely you dont over look what very important. Look bolt goingback they all different size and make sure clean your hand are glove are clean and dont wal way from it uncovered for sure if tire in to. You got put it back. If dont part be come up missing and you end up. With bike that not running because you dofnt finished so make sure you got all your part gasket and filter. Before hand
you lined up the groves to each other on the friction discs but didn't tell people that the double notches on the friction discs go in between the two indicator dots on the basket, this is extremely important, or clutch drag will occur when the oil gets hot
You pulled the clutch out and noted the bevel side facing in, then you noted the bevel side facing out when installing the first steel plate lol. Guess it goes to show it probably doesn’t matter. Nice video.
Hello. Please confirm how to regulate push rod #1 after installing the new frictions disks? The full package of disks became thicker and push lever is in wrog position as you know. If you turn it clockwise, then we will not have a stock on the thread.
You said the bevel goes inwards when you took out the plates, then when installing the new plates you put the bevel on the outside ? So you installed them the wrong way round.
do you HAVE to remove the exhaust? the reason I ask is because my exhaust studs are rusted so bad there's not even threads showing its just a rusted shaft
The music, you really don’t need it, lower volume is better, it’s not bad, just gets annoying and redundant, I am not being critical but just feedback.
Super straight forward! Loved the video, and love the fact a new clutch is easy to install!
GREAT video my man! You made it look really easy to do. I hope you have more "how to" repair videos on your V Star.
Very helpful this is going to be my weekend project!
Great job -- good camera shots, and very well explained. Thank you.
Amazing work , I will be doing this next week when my gaskets arrives.
Damn good video bud! Ya made it look easy. Plan on doing mine soon and will be using this as a guide!!.
Ride on and ride safe brother!👊👊

Atleast you can reuse the filter.

..what?
great info! nice job with the camera too.

So there is a very particular placement of each friction disc?

You put the oil filter in backwards

I was wondering if this bike could have an open primary clutch belt assembly?
What are the torque specs for the springs
Same procedure for a 1100 classic?
Yes
Lights are weak but the music is perfect.
The rings with the teeth and the friction plates do you put them on ring then friction plate, so forth and so on?
I stand corrected, the Oil filter goes the opposite way on the 1100. you installed it correctly for the 650. Sorry!
Best to drain the oil out of the engine first. You got in a real mess there.
Is the clutch different in a custom an clay
Is the clutch different in a custom an classic
After installing the new clutch did you adjust the bottom end adjuster..on opposite side of bike...
how did you prop it up straight?
James Kang I had a bike stand

I have a 2003 V-Star and changing the starter clutch but I've lost one of the small rod that goes into one the 6 springs how can I get a replacement
do you HAVE to remove the exhaust? the reason I ask is because my exhaust studs are rusted so bad there's not even threads showing its just a rusted shaft
Hello brother , i did the clutch like u xplain but now when i put in drive engine turn off
Can u help me with the problem
Mine does that after just an oil change. Try letting it idle a while and get hot to circulate the oil since it’s a wet clutch
woah... all that to get the oil filter out? im glad they changed that with the 1300
It's only about a third of the whole process shown.

How many miles did you get out of that bike before you put the new pads in?
I got all most 17k and thinking on putting in a performance clutch in
Great video, thanks
Cost of clutch kit.
$90 - $140 for factory parts.
No grooves on my plates. Now what?
I have a virago 250 2007 and i need a very detailed tutorial on a virago clutch replacement.. especially detailed info on friction plates placement
You put the oil filter in backwards.
