You know thanks to BTS I'm now a fast captions specialists, probably all armies are. I realized this while watching a movie with a friend - she complained about movie captions being too fast to read - while i could read all and grab everything that was going on on the screen.

i totally felt the same way, i thought the language barrier would be a huge problem so i avoided getting into them for so long, but trust me once you fall for them the language barrier won't be a problem at all. you really just get used to it, i can't even remember it being a problem for long lol, reading the subtitles does get a lot easier the more you get used to it !! plus it isn't essential that you always read the lyrics, yes they're important but sometimes just *listening* to the song is so relaxing, just focusing on the song or their voices. don't worry too much, thank u for giving them a chance

For anyone who's gotten into anime, they'll tell you dubs are actually inferior to subtitles. It's not about having to read to understand. If you get into BTS and their writing, you'll also prefer the Korean, not only because it's a beautiful language, but they're become poets in their native tongue. 💜

Tori Mosé American Hustle life was a show in 2014 where bts came to America where well known rappers taught them about swags, how to pick up girls,Sing and rap.Most of the cast were black, they even shot a video with black girls which they picked up themselves.
Tori Mosé American Hustle Life is an early BTS reality show. The reasons why so many black american in ASL is because a Korean group sings in hip hop and they have to dive to the culture. They learn the roots of it from some musicians like Coolio and Warren G and vocal coach Iris Stevenson. The members characterss are open as a book can be, and they still have those traits up till now. Some of them matured and leaving their boyish giggle behind, some of them boasting more confidence...And now, as mature person, they need to have that mask to be accepted in society: that is Persona. Actually they're all funny
The boys are known to be poetic and profound songwriters that's why you will always see us telling people to turn CC on so you don't miss on lyrics that they mostly write themselves. We watch their music video at least twice initially, to appreciate the video and to read the lyrics. BTS also has a recommended book list to read so we can understand their songs and music videos better. Kind of like a reading assignment. These books are mostly philosophical and for avid readers. The boys are trying to develop our reading stamina. Lol
kim chi wow I like them even more now🙌🏾. Filming a reaction video can be a bit tricky. But once the camera was off I went back and took my time to read the lyrics. They’re truly talented artists in every way!!

On top of telling an important part of the the Love Yourself story, it also explains their choreography for this song (the flower imagery, the puppet movements, the speak/see/hear no evil motions, etc). I love that you went the extra mile like that!!

@@torimose6606 there is also an introduction series by user Gadaursan that's perhaps more "cold" than other recommendations you will get. It's not as sentimental as others but I found it very useful for people wanting to get to know BTS.

Exactly. I barely know any Korean and am trying to learn, but for me, language barriers don't exist in music. Plus, there are subtitles in English, so I can look at the lyrics. lol Been a KPop fan for almost 3 years now and been a J-Pop and J-Rock fan for over 10 years. XD I love songs in other languages. They sound nice.
It completely depends if we want to dig into it or not.
However, being an ARMY is a real MOOD TBH no regrets.
i’ll be honest, i am a new ARMY. i started listening to BTS only a few months ago and now i’m completely invested in them, but i never listened to them before because i said the same thing with the language barrier. i never understood why people listened to k-pop if they didn’t know what they were saying.. but BOY am i happy i changed that mindset because now i am completely in love with these 7 boys and love each and every song despite not speaking korean. 💜
The only words i know in korean: 사랑해, 다시, 약속, 보라해, 방탄소년단 and some others😂

“Boy with Luv” lyrics don’t make much sense until you read/listen to “save me”, “I’m fine”, “Wings” and then finally “boy with luv” they are songs that connect into making a bigger picture. Basically tells a story about a broken person that just needs someone there to love them and save them and validate them and he then struggles to let go of that idea and pretends he’s fine then he grows wings and feels free of this idea and then finally he is a boy with luv, someone who loves himself and is now actually genuinely interested in the other person and wants to learn about them because they have love to give now. So the contrast from save me to boy with luv is great and you should definitely give the song and lyrics a shot.

Bts actually have really deep and meaningful lyrics that deal with actual mental health and personal struggles so the fact that you saod other boy bands have better lyrics kind of hurt my soul and made me die a little lmao other boy bands really just sing about love and break ups and partying and crushes whereas bts are really profound and poetic and express themselves through metaphors. It’s really lovely honestly.

Nono there are two , Ni-Ga (니가) and Nae-Ga (네가) , they both mean Me but are used in different context

I’m gonna be completely honest with you. Yes, it requires a little bit more effort to get to know BTS than your average English speaking boyband. However, every ounce of effort is completely worth it. It is a bit tough to keep up with their content at first, but once you can match a voice to a name and a name to a face, everything will go much smoother.
BTS’s goal has always been to become musicians and artists for healing. So they’ve positively influenced the lives of many people in this world through the sincere messages they deliver through their lyrics
You will never need to learn korean because English subtitles will always be available somewhere. You won’t be able to avoid reading subtitles if you decide to get to know them, I’m sorry to say.. but it really is worth it. Getting to know them and what they are all about is honestly an entire experience.
The journey will be nothing like what you’ve experienced with any other boy bands, because with BTS it’s not just their music. The members are an open book and share their insecurities, their personalities, their experiences and their most vulnerable moments with fans. The times they’ve laughed and cried. The times they’ve undergone periods of growth as individuals from teens to adulthood. They have shared all of it, the entire journey is shared with fans since they started as teenagers.
If you do become a fan, you will eventually laugh and cry along with them, because you’ll know every individual member and who they are down to their soul. They treat their fans as family/friends rather than as people beneath them. And thats part of why they are so relatable and why it’s so easy to love them.
I would never expect them to release music in English though because then that takes away from who they are as people. It takes away the cultural movement they are making and why them singing in their native language is so important. It’s easier for them to express themselves and what they truly mean through their native language rather than through English. The meaning then gets watered down

Just my two cents but the boys don't need an entire album in English because they've already shown that they can be the best by being true to themselves. People all over the world, and not just in English speaking countries have welcomed the boys with open arms because of the importance of what they're speaking about in their music and not necessarily the language it's being sung in. That being said they do have an English collab with the DJ Steve Aoki who they've worked with on Mic Drop and The Truth Untold. That song is called waste it on me but only features the youngest Jungkook, the group leader RM and some mixed in background vocals from Jimin. IMO go for the lyrical version if you do want to hear it since the MV doesn't feature them at all.
Another suggestion is if you feel like trying to watch just the MV is too much there are lyrical videos for all of their songs and it's also a good way to help learn whose voice is who. IE: who are the rappers and who are the vocalists. I hope that you do try and get to know them a little bit better. These young men ooze talent yet remain humble and thankful for everything they've worked to achieve this far.
