  • I really hope you like what the build of Hagrid's Hut is looking like so far. There is still lots to do and many details to add, but so far I’m really pleased with the how it looks and the time and effort I put into this project. To be continued!

    Dimensions for anyone who wants to recreate !
    Large Hut Hexagon (6 sides)
    Floor: 30 cm diameter, 15 cm radius
    One side wall: 15 cm wide, 17 cm high
    Roof: 8 cm slight upward slant, 18 cm up after that (see vid for instructions)
    Door: 7 cm wide, 15 cm high
    Window cutouts: 6.5 wide x 4cm high / 5 cm wide x 6cm high / 3.5 cm wide x 2 cm high (see vid which walls)
    Chimney: 3 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, 12 cm high
    Small Hut Hexagon (6 sides)
    Floor: 22 cm diameter, 11 cm radius
    One side wall: 11 cm wide, 17 cm high
    Roof: 6 cm slight upward slant, 17 cm up after that (see vid for instructions)
    Door: 7 cm wide, 15 cm high
    Window cutouts: 5 cm wide x 6cm high / 3.5 cm wide x 2 cm high (see vid which walls)

    I used glue and coffee grounds to make dirt for my graveyard. Never thought to use tea 🥰

    Instead of those punched out flowers on doorhandles - I found it was much easier to use those bead separates that look like 1 cm diameter flowers. The ones that have been punched out from sheet rather than poured ones. They can be easily flatten down with a hammer and they are good size for 1:12 formats. I used them under handles on 1:6 scale, but there were plenty in smaller sizes as well.

    Your solution of collecting your used tea is great, I drink oodles of tea. Never thought to collect the content of the bags, just from the loose tea I have. Now there's going to be even less trash for me to throw out. :}

    Ah yes, I have brutally cut myself too while making wood projects. Its nasty. OMG this is amazing so far. Its amazing where you can find your craft equipment, Carrot cake plastic plate! WOW! I love Rooibos, I drink it at night, awesome tea! This is going to be amazing, can't wait for part 2 😍😍

    You should try watering down some paint then brushing it over all the creases, then use a paper towel to dry up the excess, this helps get into the nooks and crannies without you having to go in manually with a brush,
    This looks amazing btw

    It looks so cool. I really like the floors and walls, they look so real. I didn't noticed did you weather the threshold at the door? I love how you have made all the items with easy to find and in most cases FREE items! I 'm looking forward to the next part.

    Great project. It may have already been mentioned but if you put your gorilla glue water mix in a spray gun it's easier to apply without disrupting your tea. In fact you can just place the tea and spray instead of gluing the tea first.

      Thank you! Thing with that is that the nozzle will get clogged as it dries. It's really good glue. Thanks for the suggestion though!

      Darkest Raven Designs true it it a strong glue. I use gorilla wood glue. Often I've seen diorama builders use pva glue watered down in a spray bottle to fix grass etc.

    This is adorable! I cut my fingers alot and I've found that when you get the bleeding to stop then super glue the wound closed and it won't really even be sore the super glue will work itself off in a couple days.

      My uncle was a medic on an oil rig and taught me this trick of supergluing wounds.

      I live in Georgia. The only time they give stitches is if it's major. My son whacked his forehead and had a cut that exposed the skull and the hospital super glued it back together.

    This is amazing. It's no wonder it's to be continued. There's so much going on with this, and I love it! Looking forward to the next installment. Also the tea ... neat idea! I've used coffee grounds and all kinds of outdated spices for ground cover. Tea is a new one, particularly used tea. I'm going to keep that in mind.

    I really like how everything is coming out!
    I wish you would have added some of that compound onto the floor to create more of a gradual slope before applying the dried tea, but excited to see how everything turned out!

    I would reccomend cutting smaller parts of the balsa with a small saw (you can still score with a knife) but it will save your fingers. A coping saw would be great! But any small saw will do.
