Mirror was a great idea because you could see the details of the hidden side too not just the illusion of depth. But should use a glass cutter instead, cleaner break & less dust.
Ha! Yeah I was making it up as I went along so that'd be due to my poor planning! I wasn't sure where I wanted the snow to be so I just painted and weathered everything!
@@TheProppingBlock That's the best way to go. That way you can change your mind on the fly - don't have to worry about sticking to a plan too rigidly and can adapt if there's a problem.
I see you point but it makes it much more realistic that way, as the snow gets trodden in, it turns to ice and as it melts and refreezes, it takes on a crusty semi-opaque glassy look? So you see the cobbles underneath. You see it in a lot of old cities :)
@@ItsVerosLife I'm pretty sure she didn't "copy" him. making a Harry Potter book nook can be a very appealing idea for any artist who is a fan of Harry Potter (me included). At the end of the day they have mostly used very different techniques and had different approaches. I personally love both end results. :)
@@ItsVerosLife The whole point of making these videos is so other people make what you make but with their own touches, ideas, and style. That's kind of the point. Making something like this, could actually be a idea for actual spider cages (like for people who keep tarantulas) ...but idk if thats not too much or possible ,since u have to clean the cages once in a while...i dont have much knowledge about keeping spiders as pets ,so.... dunno if that would work. Was just a idea
im actually speechless. the more you added to this i kept thinking there’s no way you could top the last detail, and then you proved me wrong... continuously! for 15 minutes!! well done, this deserves more views 👏🏼
PHENOMENAL !!! I love that illusion of the street continuing on and the magic of backward signs reflecting in the mirror! You are a wonder. Thanks for sharing.
All of it was amazing, but the part that blew me away the most was the care taken to make the little footprints in the snow that they looked like well-worn paths. That is a dedication to realism.
Thank you so much!! I've learned so much my head is swimming! I'll have to watch this video over and over again! That won't be hard for me! What will be hard is to stay focused on the learning end and to not be mesmerized into your building skill. I look forward to watching your other videos. Thanks again!
This is amazing, you've done SUCH a beautiful job! You totally need to do The Hobbit Shire or The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or more Harry Potter because heck we need more of these!
having a mirror in the back is so clever ! at first i thought it would be dumb because of the reflection of the person looking but that actually makes it more magical and you can see the other sides of buildings!
The details are so amazing in the book nook. It reminds me so much of the Nerdforge and all their detail work. Great jobI bet your sis in law loved it. Great music too.
I think you did an awesome job - I leaned a lot. I am working on mine its going to be a street in Tuscany with flowers in the street and arches of course! Thanks again!
This is so awesome! I love to see you make everything out of so few materials. Reminds me that we don’t necessarily need specialized or expensive materials to make something beautiful and complex!
Being real, this is one of the coolest things I've seen. I've watched this video 4 times now in the last 2 days. I'm not even a big Harry Potter fan, but this is the coolest thing.
This Harry Potter Book Nook is awesome. You're so talented and I love how you used the mirror to create the illusion of more depth and dimension inside it. Oh, and the lights are amazing too. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
I've seen a few HP booknooks and this is by far the best! The snow really knocked it to the top of the list because it makes me think of christmas, and what's more magical then christmas time? Oh and the train bookends. 😉 nice touch. This was amazing. Thanks for sharing.
@@TheProppingBlock I used to paint miniatures for D&D, back in the day. Watching your very awesome work triggered vivid memories of trying to paint a hard-to-reach belt buckle with a toothpick tip. I goofed and some of the paint pooled inside the buckle, ruining the leather colour beneath. I have never been as angry at a cubic millimeter of liquid in my entire life. So, thanks for that! (Seriously, though. Keep up the good work!)
I get the illustrated HP books for my sister each year as they come out (for Christmas) and I think that I'll have to make something like this for her coming up! Great work, this book nook is incredible!
This is truly amazing! I absolutely LOVE this and would, if I could afford it, commission an equally amazing one for myself! The best Harry Potter DIY prop I've seen so far. 100% legit professional! ❤
The trick with the mirror and the double-sided shop signs make me clap my hands with glee like an 8 year old :D
Seriously! Such a good idea!
That was my favorite part of the build and something I'll keep in my back pocket for future projects.

Very clever. I also love the bookends.
Marks out all the individual cobbles, paints them and weathers them, then covers the whole damn lot with snow !

Love it
I kind of thought that too, but then I saw the tiny feet come out to make footprints and all I could think was, "GENIUS!"
Starts cutting out individual bricks
Nerdforge: **nightmare flashbacks**
Yeah same thing. This was insane thing. This creation is priceless.

Started out thinking 'ooh, I already have everything I need to make something like this'.
Finished with 'except the skill... '.
Amazing work!
But you have the TIME to get good enough.
It’s just occurred to me that when a house spider wanders in there, it’s either going to settle right down or be scarred for life....

Your skills are beyond what words can express.

The attention to detail is amazing! Well done you! Amazing 💜
This is almost too good to be real! I know you put hours galore into this and your passion and care are profoundly evident, thank you for sharing!
You know that there were weeks, maybe like months of time put into making this when the injury to the left hand is healed!
Super nice details, especially the double-sided signs... but my favourite is the little lantern. The cuteness.
I love the idea of book nooks . . . it gives you another alternative way of displaying.
I bloody love this!!!!
The magic, people, is in the details.
Holy...😮😮 Fantastic work!! Thx for showing ❤
Wowza! A mechanical wizard molding magic with his hands.
Absolutely amazing ..every small detail even down to footprints in the snow ..Love it 😀
Wow, was für ein Künstler. Was für ein Kunstwerk. Einzigartig!

So many smart tricks in this. It came out wonderfully.
Amazing idea. I'm gonna make one for each of my favorite book series.
The details in the snow, the lights, the mirror, everything is beautifully made and detailed
This is the BEST book nook available on UA-cam. Congrats!

So beautiful. I wish I had the time to create such magical worlds.
So stinking cute! The details! I love it so much!
Gosh! That was so much work to build the book nook! I hope your sister-in-law loved it. I sure would! ~Janet in Canada
I cannot remember the last time I was as vicariously stressed as I was when you got to the lantern.
Hahaha that was a stressful bit! I cut out the 20-30 minutes of me just trying to get the tiny thing in the right spot with the glue!

The sign flips for the mirror reflection is very clever!
Digging the dirty workspace!!! That’s a sign of a TRUE MAKER!... Lol.
LOVE IT! especially your incorporation of the mirror
this is some high level of patience
as a table top crafter for D&D....my dude, when you made the little lantern my jaw dropped.
