My Tiger arrived earlier this month, I've taken a look at it but not too deeply as I'm building Andy's M4A3E8. I'm hoping the assembly instructions are better with the Tiger as some of the images of the placement of parts in the Sherman's are terrible
Another interesting review of an interesting new model. It would be great for you to do a video build of the kit. Kind regards, and I hope you feel better soon.
Regarding the schemes, and your comment regarding the desert yellow on the Eastern Front. As far as I am aware, until sometime in 1944, Tigers (1 and King) left the factory in the yellow colour, with the rest of the camouflage being applied in the field. Hence each tank would be different, and there was no reason for an Eastern Front tank not to be kept in desert yellow, particularly if it was a reinforcement, and had to be got into combat quickly. Later on in the war I understand that camo was applied in the factory.
When doing an engine for a piston engine model plane kit, is it better to paint the parts before hand or assemble the engine first and then paint it as a whole unit?
I preordered one of these after watching Andy build one on his UA-cam channel in February. Mine arrived on Thursday and it was great to see your reaction to unboxing yours. It's a stunning kit and worth the price I paid for it.
Firstly hope you are feeling better now and excellent review Peter i really like the 1/16 Tanks from Takom i have their 1/16 Panzer 1 and das werk Stug IIIG i might have to add this one as well i really want to make Tiger 131 as it is now with the damage it has on it
Once again I was not able to follow the live stream. The biggest Tiger tank I ever did was in 1/35 scale. This one is a monster! And the box as well. You would think that a kit this size didn't have tiny parts but they just keep making some of them smaller. Don't condemn me for heresy, normally I rather dislike hard plastic tank tracks. Too small and you might be better off with those long single piece soft rubber ones... However I've built two 1/16 scale tanks so far and I have to say it was a pleasure to put their tracks together. And the rest of the kits too.
Say what you like but the Kinetic Harrier will be the one kit you remember the most and feel greatest pride over when you look at it. Armed with hindsight dare I say it will be a kit you will want to tackle again.
Great review Peter. Andy certainly chose the right partner in Takom my current project is the Takom V1 launch site and they do seem to excel at large plastic moulds with a minimum parts count Ha! It's a wonderful nod back to calling the instruction manual the “Tigerfibel” which was the original manual given to the new crew of a Tiger and was unique in its use of comic characters aka Tamiya style to inform the young crews how to carry out basic maintenance. We should have a night in honour of our wonderful wives who put up with us when I started going out with mine all my kitchen cupboards were full of unmade Tamiya kits what must she have thought? I was definitely punching above my weight when I landed the current Mrs McKnight.
Hi Peter well sometimes a model just feels right this is one of those times, what lovely kit it’s great to see all them parts on 1/35 you never really see in big scale it will be fun to build and even more fun to paint and well done for soldiering on even when you wasn’t firing on all cylinders 👍
I'm watching this review again. Looked at the other tanks with the inside stuff in them. Like would that be fun the inside stuff. Then will there be aftermarket to like to just do the inside where you can see. Should I wait to see. The price is high without anything inside a little 164.00 USD plus tax. Verses Trumpeter King Tiger with the inside stuff 300.00 USD. Do you need the inside. To be or not to be. LOL
Sitting here putting together the tracks for my AH Tiger. Amazing kit! Here’s a tip on the tracks. I wound up having to chuck all the pins in a small drill and gently sand the pins down so they slid in somewhat loose otherwise the tracks were VERY stiff before doing this. Because in my early 40's, I had to stop MM in 1/35 scale due to Presbyopia and shaking hands due to early onset of a shit lifestyle (12 hr shifts in FMCG)... Why did I mention this? 1. Napoleon Brandy 2. I was recently in my 'ManCave' looking for an important missing item.... happened to stray over to my collection of 1/35 German WWII kits and, while blowing off 25+ years of dust. I noticed just how small the scale seems now! (It seems the same as 1/72 Airfix Tiger1 did to me 50 years ago) Am I waffling? of course I am....
I agree with you it is something we will all get. Not a toy or wearing you out with hard work. Molded in 02 you didn't catch that one. I won't weather it. I do new because they were new on the first so I can skip that madness. History is Tursk delayed three mouths for 90 Tigers to get there. Lost a lot from Anty tank poisons no help at all. There were hundreds made like you would run into them anywhere, Pain in the ass for our guys. I apricate you finding that gem. I want you to throw the Harrier out the window and kick it all around the yard for revenge. My Airfix 1/24 Harrier is there jump on that dog too. I do love that Tank. Tiger is known it was the Star of the Movie White Snow. Nazi Zombies. Comedy Englis style. Police car is that a tank? Then the real Tiger runs over the gar them bailing out. Kelly's Heros was the 3 Tigers making us laugh American style, Everyone knows what a Tigar Tank is. Made them laugh. LOL
We need these kits with interiors, don’t see the point otherwise .come on Andy let’s develop one with an interior please , the packaging of the sherman was poor I had a lot of sprues with damaged parts ,a bit more care could be taken in this area as these kits are expensive to say the least, sorry Andy but I won’t be getting one, for an extra £50 I can get one with an interior and it’s packaged better , am surprised that takom packaged it like this but hey people will buy am sure but a bit more care would be nice when producing these big kits .
I think full interior would make this almost a £300 kit and take up to a year to build. There is breach detail and commanders seat, I think that is probably enough for most people.

@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab it's a fair cop 😸
I hope it finishes before my Gotha premier, I would hate to miss my own video 😂
Sorry Jason, I didn't realise they would clash! This should have been done on Weds but I have been ill. (Still coughing in the vid! 😷) Tell you what, I will pull my vid forward 15 mins to avoid a clash buddy. I will then also be able to enjoy yours too. 👍🏻

A gift from your wife? Looks like she is getting rid of you and your cough for a month or so 😂

Should I/Shouldn't I?.....
Hi Grammar Police here....
Having Actually visited Michael Wittmann's (and crew) grave in La Cambe Cemetery in Normandy.
I am Appalled by the most celebrated Panzer Ace (apart from Knispel) name being misspelled on such a prodigious 'Social Media Platform'..
I may buy 2 of these.... Why?
Because in my early 40's, I had to stop MM in 1/35 scale due to Presbyopia and shaking hands due to early onset of a shit lifestyle (12 hr shifts in FMCG)...
Why did I mention this?
1. Napoleon Brandy
2. I was recently in my 'ManCave' looking for an important missing item.... happened to stray over to my collection of 1/35 German WWII kits and, while blowing off 25+ years of dust. I noticed just how small the scale seems now! (It seems the same as 1/72 Airfix Tiger1 did to me 50 years ago)
Am I waffling? of course I am....
Wingnut Wings/Border 1/32 Lancaster or 1/32 Kotare Spitfire Mk.I??? Or both
My lips are sealed 😑...till 8pm tonight!
🤔 I have both 🤗
I agree with you it is something we will all get. LOL
...гиппер-модель....
Complete with antibiotics inducing unpleasant restroom actions :(

You haven't opened it because you have been 'Claretised for the past couple of days!
Tanks aren't really my thing, I am more into aircraft.
Come on now...Join the Dark side...Everybody loves a tiger!
Stand by, Andy's already talking about a 1/6 scale P51 😮
Peter I lasted 49 minutes.
I can’t listen to you hacking up your guts any longer 🤦♂️
Please do the (Professional) thing and record this again later.
You should have waited until you felt better mate.
Sorry about the coughing, but I did apologise several times. Unfortunate timing...It couldn't really wait any longer as had been postponed 3 days already as I was one of the first in the UK to receive it and time & exclusivity was a factor. Had it not been such a new item I would have waited. I suggest you watch the rest as it got a lot better later in the vid. And you can always turn the sound down and put subtitles on...Usual high quality service will be resumed soon.👍🏻

Just my thoughts Peter.
I am slowly warming to your channel and thanks for doing it.
I am also a Flory paid up member but I just sit back and observe.
Can I ask what you do for a living and work ?
Anyway thanks again a hello 👋 from beautiful North Queensland in the Mackay region on the Great Barrier Reef 🪸
@@allandaniell1439 Thanks for your feedback Allan. I used to work as a high-flying international sales and marketing exec but gave it up as I found it became too much stress, constantly living out of a suitcase. I now work part-time in a Sports store as a retail supervisor and cycle technichian which I really enjoy. It also gives more time for modelling and the YT channel.Sounds like you live in a beautiful part of the world. 👍🏻
@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab I here you.
I’ve been a BDM and Sales Manager for many companies like steel supplies and mine supplies services industries for almost 20 years now since my early 30s.
But the last 6 years I’ve been working as a state manager for a Australian owned and based ( very rare these days) manufacturer supplying consumables into the mining, defence and agricultural industries. Looking after Queensland and the Northern Territory. I do a lot of travel but I always take kits with me and my little travel tool kit and as you say de stress from many hours of driving, client calls and another hotel some where in Northern Australia 🇦🇺
People think I build fast but I’ve done all the building work on the road so by the time they see it.
It’s painted, decals and done ✅
Leave you to it and I’m going to get the Tamiya Mk 9 Spit on your recommendation 👍
@@allandaniell1439 Thanks Allan, see more here: ua-cam.com/video/RpxhhnH42g4/v-deo.html
Sorry but for me, it isn't outstanding. Further more, once is finished, I think it will look like a big seconds class toy.
It will look great if painted and weathered correctly, maybe some chipping effects too.
All the Shakespeare stuff is not needed, and annoying, just get on with the review.
Until the day you fund me, I will do it the way I like, thanks. 👍🏻
What's the point. Your a collecter. Your not a builder. Most so called modellers nowadays collect models to keep for when they can make a profit out of them. Their stash.
I suggest you do more research before commenting...
