- Today we finally FINALLY take a look at Komi-san from her popular series
TheLoadingCrew is a husband and wife team made up of 2 independent artists. The husband Stuart is in charge of the UA-cam channel and producing video content while the wife Alexandria produces the Web Comics Momma CQ and Jelly Realms Adventures.

Obviously thats a lawful good because she honours the position of him as the first to help her break out of the bubble. Also cute. Everything is cute. If cute was an alignment this video would both be unnesecary and three hours longer.
I could die for it to watch the same , but instead of lawfull and chaotic it would be just cute, and gremlin. Wonder how other characters would fit into this.

Everyone has that friend that has difficulty breaking out their shell.
"Well of course, I know him. He's me."
The reason why putting Tadano's name first is lawful good is because she is honoring him as the first friend she has made.
So the cellphone, it's actually a common trope in slice of life that the cellphone stores the contacts in the order they are entered. So Komi wanting Tadano's number first is her way of putting him at the top of the list. This is her making the decision that he is number one in her mind and is probably the first romantic seed of their relationship.
Anyway, Lawful Good and I argue Nat 20 scene.
I know it was just a joke but I honestly find the whole "she falls in love with the first guy that saw her problems...and then went out of his way to help her" pretty...understandable?
I mean she obviously doesn't care much about looks but the dude is honestly a proper nice guy that just genuinly wants to help her out while not being a complete stepping stone.
Like, I dont really get the "Ugh, I am not good enough!" vibe from him...ever...I am just getting a "Yeah, I want to help this new friend of mine that just so happens to be really cute and pretty"
I love that about him honestly.
Spoiler alert for the manga!
When they actually start dating we dont get one of those typical drawn out "OMG I am not good enough for her! What should I do?! What if people start liking her less because of me!" That we would often get from the either self concious guy because he isn't actually all that self concious and that is a really nice change of pace.
He likes her...he finds out she likes him....and he just states it like that. He never questions wrether or not he is good enough for her because she likes him and wants to date him so he just takes that at face value.
No stupid "We should keep this a secret to avoid your reputation getting bad!" or silly stuff like that...and most of the other classmates understand (Take a guess who doesnt...) and are just happy for them.
It is honestly really nice!
Out of the three he covered this one is the slice of life that reminds me of my relationship the most

Here a funfact, (which I think fits to this) about me:
I just generally prefer being with girls
I would like to think that this preferance just evolved in my head, because when I was young and used to be in Kindergarten, I used to be alone all the time and I'd use all the group activities the adults would offer me. One day, I was offered to play by a girl called Debora. This trend would go in in my life when I met... Let's call her "Jossel", even if they actually are a he, but I never remember.
Anyway, it was a year after I changed from elementary school to a Realschule (Basically another school, but 5th-10th grade) and I was (yet again) a pretty lonely guy until I met Jossel, whom I would spend all day and night chatting on Discord, since we live like 500km away from each other. And I still have strong affection towards them today, despite that being like... ~8 years ago.
My guess is the one who doesn't understand is crazy Yandere Lesbian girl who's name I refuse to even attempt to remember.

I have my own Komi-san. My now girlfriend has crippling anxiety, as well as other mental health issues, and when I met her, all she wanted was to make friends and I was among her first friends she made in college, and helped her know more people. She's so sweet and adorable, and before I knew it, I had caught feelings for her, but I knew she just wanted friends, and enjoyed being with her, so we kept it as that. Eventually once her life settled down a bit, she ended up catching feelings for me as well, and asked me out for a date. We still haven't had that date due to her living 4 hours away from me, so it's long distance for now, but despite the distance, we do what we can to spend time together, even so far as to set up our own server on Minecraft so we can play together
That is so sweet. I wish you two the best of luck. (Assuming you are still together a year later)

A fun bit from the series that i liked was the naming scheme the author had went with. Basically every name is a reference to trope that said character falls under, i.e. Osana Najimi refers to osananajimi or childhood friend, Hitohito Tadano referring to tadano hito or "just some guy", etc. it's just a fun little addition.
Komi and Tadono are wholesome.

Really sad to see these alignment videos go, but understandable. God's known as UA-cam is really silly because hard work is not repaid in kind. I love to see the new ideas, the pokemon rpg, and even seeing all these videos even when you guys retire them. You guys have a forever subscriber from me!
Kinda funny that you mention the 'everyone has a komi-san in their life' when i think about myself only talking to about a handful people in my life (including family!). I really can feel the struggle as if my throat refuses to open when someone i don't know could hear me. Writing is literally something different, although it took a lot to write this.
It's nice to see the extreme version of something relatable to yourself in a well written series (beside episode 4, that was just bananas).

The maid outfit thing is explained in the manga if I remember right. It's a shame they didn't include the explaination in the anime.

It's lawful good to put her first friend first because she is maintaining the order by which she got friends. She has set her own code that he was her first friend so he goes first in the phone.
If you love the show as much as this video makes it sound like you do, you’ll probably be glad to hear that this video made me decide to watch the show! It sounds so wholesome and adorable!
I love the expressions. All of Komi’s stares and trembling communicate her personality very well.
I love how the ninja guy just goes "NO" to the psycho girl alot, knocking her out from time to time
Komi is by far the character that i related to the most, we are basically the same person, except she is preetier than me and i am not as crippled by anxiety as she is.
My social issues come from being autistic and after i noticed that the characters i relate to the most are in some level autistic too (Merrill from DA2, Anakin from Star Wars and Komi-san) maybe that is why i like her so much.

What an absolutely amazing video guys. My little brother actually dealt with selective mutism for a long time, and while it is obviously not the same thing as what Komi-san is going through, it was close enough to make this show mean a lot to me, and I really apreciate you doing it justice like this. I know that videos like this won't be a thing on the channel much longer, and that brings we no small amount of sadness, but for this and every other amazing video you have given us, and those that I am sure are still to come, thank you.

I'm glad you could do this, after seeing the Nagatoro video I was waiting for this one. It'd be nice if you could do more slice of life animes, but as most of them are one note characters I can understand that you're only doing 3 of them. Plus you're ending this soon so it's not like you could do more.
But Komi-san is a great character thanks to her quirks. She's great, even if some might consider her overrated. I'm not one of them though. Great work on the video and it's nice that you finally did Komi-san after so many months, well done.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I thought Najimi wanted Tadano in the outfit and he refused...until he looked at Komi and inferred she wanted to see him in it as well. Tadano can't say no to Komi (in this world I don't think anyone can say no to Komi)

I love this video! I honestly was expecting it next month when season 2 would start but this is a great treat.
Yeah... Komi Shouko or Shouko Komi doesn't lend herself for an in-depth analysis of her personality and or alignment dings.
The series is much more interested and interesting when we spend time with the wacky cast that are summed up in the puns in their names.
I will put it out there but there is just no end to waifus, now that you completed this trilogy of sorts many would want to see analisis (even if they aren't alignment videos) of other waifus like Marin Kitagawa.
I never expected to fall in love with this show as much as I did. It feels so relatable that the problem Komi faces is that other people make assumptions based upon what they think she wants, rather than asking her.
And thank you for bringing up the Yamai stuff. that episode was incredibly F'd up. She's the one character I really despise for how she treats everyone, including Komi, as an object.
This was...cozy. A feel-good analysis of a feel-good anime. I enjoyed this!
I don't know... crippling social anxiety to the point you're unable to utter a word to anyone in fear of rejection certainly sounds like a communication disorder since it affects communication... Sure it isn't physical like having too many teeth in a cramped mouth that caused overlapping teeth layers that caused a speech impediment that needed dental surgery to resolve, but it's definitely something that shouldn't be thrown under the rug as a "not problem" problem... o3o
Komi is "cute good" as an alignment. Also I think it counts as lawful good, cause it's good, she wants to make her first friend her first phone contact cause she wants him to know how important he is to her, it way of doing right by him and honoring him. and Lawful cause it's almost expected from a societal standpoint that a person make their first friends and best friend a close and important part of their social life with gestures like that. I always kinda forget that lawful isn't just about the law, but about the expectations of society for how you act. The (I suppose you could call them) "social laws" we all live by or break in various ways through out our lives.
Loved watching this show. Even the first episode of where she’s explaining herself and how she couldn’t even make a single friend genuinely brought a tear down. It’s wacky and fun and what I like about slice of life.

I agree with stew on the Nat 1 yandere episode. I remember watching it and yeah I didn't like it. It felt like a complete 180 shift and the fact that we're supposed to have it be the yandere becomes Komi's friend...yeah no that girl should have had to redeem herself or something.
But other than that I enjoyed the show.

She's what happens when you ready 5 tome's of Leadership and Influence and now has a +10 Charisma modifier.
It's also worth noting that Komi asking Tadano to call her by her first name is a bigger deal in Japan than it is here in the west (where using someone's first name is a much more common practice), so that little detail is something western audiences would be more likely to miss. In Japan, it's actually taboo to call someone by their first name unless you are a blood relative or an *extremely* close friend (as in, "best friend" or "dating" levels of close). Using someone's first name in Japan without their permission/consent would quickly earn you some very disapproving looks from the people around you.
It's also one reason why you generally don't see a "couple" introduce each other as their boyfriend/girlfriend, as the mere act of using their first name would have been a huge clue that they were a couple.

I Love Tadano and Komi's relationship. You say that it is all about wish fulfilment, but imo its pretty realistic. Yeah they got infatuated with each other in the first year, but they remain squarely as friends for a long time, it takes two full years of in universe time for them to get together. During that time they develop their own groups of friends and have their own personal developments, Tadano comes real close to becoming the boyfriend of another girl. I love how wonderfully developed everyone in this manga gets.
and i enjoy their bond in the series. Tadano got to know who Komi is rather than going with assumptions everyone has and Komi was happy that her first friend goes out of his way to help her reach her goal, and in he Yamai episode Komi was very worried for Tadano being missing (something Najimi pointed out) and stood her ground for Yamai saying terrible things about Tadano (right in front o her mind you) and planned to break all ties with Tadano due to what happend to him but didn't wanted that to happen to her first friend.
and I'm hoping that the other girl get her time to shine in the anime soon.

So Komi adding Tadano's phone number first because she feels like she's indebted to Tadono not only being her first friend, but being the one to help her improve and get over her weakness of her lack of communication. So that's with it's lawful good.
Episode 4 reminds me of the one time I tried playing a fighter/rogue pc inspired by the nightlords from warhammer 40k.
Not gonna give the *"gory"* details here because the group I was with at the time were trying to out edge me. Which, no. I mean they tried with the Iron Maiden Armor homebrew, but... anyways, great vid, fam.

Also, this is giving me the same vibes as the anime where the huge guy makes friends with the tiny girl. He looks like a rough guy and she has the volume of an ant and they bond over their social loneliness. Its even got an emotional twist near the end as their relationship starts to turn romantic.

I haven't watched the series, but now I want to. My bf and I both have issues communicating with others for different reasons. So I relate to this.

The one thing I like about Tadano over other wish fulfillment protags is that the author sort of treats him as just that. His name legit translates to “normal person,” because he’s just that, he’s meant to be the average Joe, and that’s taken to the same extreme as every other trope laden character at the school. Tadano isn’t some standout because he’s more of a character than say Gojou from dress up darling, he’s a standout because the author made his existence a joke. And when that joke became a bit played out? He gave him new ones. A delinquent looking fried that may or may not want a piece of that average cake, friends he hangs out with independently of Komi who, like everyone in season one, are sort of horrible people.
I’m not sure if that was a flub or an intentional “mistake” done for comedy, but you called Komi by her mom’s name while summarizing the series premise in the beginning of the video. 😅 Her mom is “Komi Shuuko” and the Komi you’re talking about is “Komi Shouko” (which would be closer to “show-ko” in pronunciation).

Would love to see an alignment chart for Hori and Miyamura, two characters from Horimiya. It is the best romance series manga, awesome characters.
I honestly would rather have heard of your opinion on chadeno, as he seems like the antithesis to the average “boy who’s crushing on a girl” in slice of life. Yeah he thinks she’s pretty, but he also genuinely wants to help her, not just for his own gain or for making himself seem like boyfriend material. And yes, you can see that he still does things to impress her, like his hilarious power boost during the sprint, but that isn’t his primary motivation, and the show makes that very clear.
I honestly love Tadeno’s character more than Komi’s and that’s not to say that I don’t absolutely love Komi because she’s absolutely adorable and I relate to her, it just speaks to how well written Tadeno is.

Don't knock my boi Tadano, Stuart. If you had severe anxiety your whole life up to 15 years old, I bet you would appreciate the person who actually figured it out as much as Komi does for Tadano. And their building love is a very slow burn, which I feel makes sense for both of them.

Komi proceeds to roll two nat 1s, begins to tear up, and everyone at the table coordinates to distract her as someone else changes the dice to make it look like she rolled two 20s instead.
DM: Oh hey look at that, they join your party! Good job Komi!

Also I don't know if it's funnier if she plays a charisma character that charms people the same way it happens in real life, or she has like a negative 3 modifier but people still "listen" to her. You know, the way it ACTUALLY is for her.
