Because doctors back then didnt have enough evidence showing that cigarettes are bad for health. When the lung cancer death rate increased over time, they researched more about it and found out eventually. Cigarettes, at one point were even approved by physicians as harmless which sounds very wrong.
I used to smoke 1.5-2 packs of cigarettes a day absolutely loved it. I even got to the point I was growing about five different strains of tobacco and curing it myself. I quit about five years ago and I am so glad I did. If you are going to stop smoking, I wish you the best of luck hang in there you'll get there.

sawyer mounce Beats me. It wasn’t how people talked in the real world, but that “Trans Atlantic” accent was taught bc they thought it sounded appealing. As the years went on, people wanted more of a realistic real world representation in movies and tv so that’s why that accent is now gone.

@cat attack Been smoking since I was 14/15 I'm almost 18 now and I've tried nicotine gum.. didn't work. Tried vaping it worked but I can't always afford pods so I go back to smoking. The only thing that actually helped me because it was affordable was juul but those are basically extinct now, cig companies probably did it they don't want people to quit.
@gat I use to smoke cigs but I’ve successfully switched to vaping the juice lasts me 2-3 weeks per bottle and it’s $17 a bottle where I live and coils are cheap too. Now I just need to quit vaping and I’ll be good lol
the way they show cigarettes reminds me of how today's ads show gum: easy to open, grab a one for you and your friend, refreshing like being on a beach...
I remember seeing ashtrays in doctors offices and hospital waiting rooms in the late 1960's. Now you can even smoke within 50 yards of a hospital even if it is on a busy street. I guess that the exhaust fumes of cars and trucks must become healthier over the last fifty years.
My grandma was in a cigarette commercial for Newport she’s only 85 she said they use to tell everyone cigarettes were good for you and that’s why I shouldn’t vape
@@calvantisclean1571 I'm sure they thought the same way about cigarettes.. sure it can make you fat, but if you eat in moderation - you'll be just fine.. not all sugar is bad.. as long as you're exercising.. red-bull is good for sports.. etc etc etc.
When the epidemiological study that cigarette causes lung cancer was released , all these companies lost thier mind and tried all they could to suppress this study from reaching public
1960: Colourful Cigarette packets with attractive packaging, advertising, logos, reputation, etc. 2020 : Black and white packets with severe health warnings and photos of dead bodies, with zero advertising allowed.
I think commercials in general that has the word cigarette or cigars are gonna encourage kids to smoke more so truth and real cost are actually encouraging it by mentioning it so there actually doing less
They put such incredibly harmful chemicals in those you wouldn't believe it. Kent filters contained potent asbestos for example. Back in those days you needed to grow your own plants and smoke from a pipe to stay alive
My father always had a carton on top of the fridge and anther in his truck. He never complained when the carton on top of the fridge was missing a few packs. I’ve quit twice since then, but always started back up. Been nearly 30 years now.

It’s so odd, cigarettes were seen as classy chocolates or something people would use just as a refreshing SNACK.
because cigarettes are refreshing snacks
Because doctors back then didnt have enough evidence showing that cigarettes are bad for health. When the lung cancer death rate increased over time, they researched more about it and found out eventually. Cigarettes, at one point were even approved by physicians as harmless which sounds very wrong.
F Who tf asked kid. you wrote a whole essay about cigarettes that at most 10 people are gonna read.
