I like how you said “it feels good to be back instead of trying other people’s techniques“. I need to trust my instincts more when I paint. I do tend to look for inspiration from other artists, like you, instead of allowing my own creativity and imagination to inspire me. Thank you for reminding me of that. But I do love watching you! You are feisty and you speak your mind! Loving the old school MelyD vibe.
I love being surprised by the dried version, often such a transformation. Thank you for your generous step by step demos. Very helpful and so very pretty.
I was thinking of you Stephanie this morning. I searched you up in my fb page messages then in my personal messages and I couldn't find you!! I said to myself ok, I'll wait til she comments and I'll talk to her there haha if ever you still want the Gandalph painting, it's ready. Please message me so we can speak privately:) Happy you like this one!!
Was curious as to when you started painting? I started back in elementary school but Life happened and I hadn't gave it much thought until recently and now I'm in my 40s. I find it's so self satisfying and calming!
The one thing I can count on with your work is the crisp lines. Old school or not, it works! You were one of the first artists I saw doing the pour art technique and you hooked me. Sometimes I find myself over stimulated with so many different techniques and get so frustrated. I find myself coming back for the simple is best attitude and it actually is the best. It's grounding for me. You are a gem!
MelyD, I noticed you use DecoArt Pouring Medium and said Floetrol and glue are not pouring mediums. Why do you prefer a proper pouring medium over Floetrol or glue? Will the DecoArt help the paint to self-level as Floetrol does? And, yes, I love the reaction of black and gold as well. Pretty piece.🖤
I have searched EVERYWHERE for the decoart satin enamels, I found red, I cannot find white anywhere! Not Michael's, hobby lobby, Walmart, Amazon doesn't even have it! HELP PLEASE! Tell me where to get it
Yay now here is MelyD!! I know you have wanted to try other people’s ideas and techniques, but staying authentic is what attracts others to our art... rock on and keep pushing your experiments lead by your intuition and enthusiasm. Good to see you back again....your art is always much more exciting and deep compared to anything else. Art is about working from the inside... out...😘
Not the hair your paint created LOL that was cute :) when I see a hair I remove it right away while the painting is wet. I usually don't have cat hairs in the final product although it has happened a few times. Its really not the end of the world when it's blended with colors. It use to freak me out but I've learned to let go :)
I'm sorry, I disagree about the glue. A good archival glue works better than any pouring medium has for me. No little lumps and bumps at all like I have gotten with floetrol and deco art pouring medium. I have issues stirring for long periods of time due to physical limitations. Glue is a better choice for me and works fine....that being said I still love your videos!
I'm not sure about archival glue but whatever works for you! The point of my videos is to show people how 'I' do it, whatever happens on your end is up to you ;)
Melissa, when you added more black I was like ....NNNOOOOO!!!!!! But wow what a difference it made, absolutely stunning piece 💕😍 @13:15 do you see the chubby face in the glitter?

Looks like an expensive piece of granite! Gorgeous!
It’s beautiful! I think the gold in the large black area makes a sideways heart. 💞

You're absolutely right and thank you for telling me :)
Super!!! How do we know how much paint we need?
The amount of paint depends on the technique and I have never measured. I always prepare more than I think I will need and keep the left overs.
💥 boom Swirl it girl. An ol fashion MelyD. 😀.
Nice work! Liked it great before u added more black but yr result is awesome
Amazing! I saw the cat walk through as you were painting and I wondered if you ever get cat hair on your paintings?
I do but rarely :)
Love this one. What about cranberry and teal?
Teal was done in the last video. Cranberry could be added to the list :)
💛🖤👍
I saw your kitty go by. How do you keep hair out of your pours? Or do you get hairs, especially in the resin. Not the hair your paint created.

Do you know how to solve the issue of a loose canvas?
spray the back of the canvas with water, and take heat gun or hair dryer to quickly dry it. One can be enough, but you can repeat it if necessary.
I wet the whole canvas under the tap front and back and let it dry on it's own.
@@hannahhunter520 Thank you Hannah
@@MelyDartist Thank you, I will give it a try.
Melissa, when you added more black I was like ....NNNOOOOO!!!!!! But wow what a difference it made, absolutely stunning piece 💕😍 @13:15 do you see the chubby face in the glitter?
I don't see the chubby face but to be honest, I'm not sure about the black I added. Too late now anyway. :)
