The i7 4770 Vs i7 10700F - Old $300 CPU Vs New $300 CPU

- Today we're comparing the gaming performance of 2013's Intel Core I7 4770 against the modern day I7 10700F. Both chips hit the market at $300, and both are locked with no overclocking potential. How does 1080p and 4K performance between these two differ?

It took 7 years for Intel to reach this level of improvement, and AMD did it in 2 years wtf
It didn’t take them that long at all... they had full control of the market and choose to resell shit 🤣 good to see competition from both sides now though
Unfortunately AMD was dead in the water for sooooo many years before they finally got something right. Intel had no competition...and no reason to innovate. Now, they finally do...and that's great for all of us, whether we're Intel or AMD fans. :)
Amd was starting from much lower
That's at least partially because AMD had garbage CPUs for YEARS before Ryzen came out. Yeah, Intel's development has been stale, for sure, but AMD was way behind for years.
I think you haven't seen i7 4790
Its an absoulete beast
Imagine the difference in performance at 720p lol
This comparison shows how well CPUs can hold on their own. I have a 2014 laptop with an i7-4510U and despite the weak GPU, I can play some well optimised games without an issue. Great video!
This is chicken and egg problem. The reason CPUs are still capable after so many years nowadays is not because they are "so good", but because the demands don't rise that much, and they don't rise, because the industry stagnated so much developers can't implement things that require more performance. There are tons of algorithms known for decades that gamedevs would love to use (like better, more stable physics, AI navigation etc.), but they can't because the average CPU performance of computers is still too low for them to use in real-time apps like video games. 25 years ago when CPUs were improving rapidly games were also rapidly changing their algorithms. Physics in Half-Life 2 were mind blowing because new CPUs allowed them to be implemented. These ground breaking jumps don't happen nowadays.
Thank you for your video.
0:53 that aged very well
Fun fact: Old Cpu's didn't become worse, modern games did - with their shitty optimisation. Doom Eternal can still run on 10+ year old cpu without a problem.
Doom Eternal runs on everything. But it runs BETTER on newer CPUs.
You can't blame everything on optimization, games have just much more stuff going on, and that needs to be calculated by the CPU.
You can't expect an open-world game that's tracking hundreds of people within the player's area and 15 systems which keep progressing in the background to require the same amount of CPU throughput as a relatively simple (From a game system standpoint) FPS which needs to track the AI of a few dozen enemies at max.

The i3 is about 10% weaker than the 10700F in single thread performance, and about half as powerful on all cores. (based on benchmarks).
He talks about the i7 4770 beiing old and im still running an i7 3770...
Maybe after all the long years i should consider upgrading.
I'm in the same boat. I'd love to upgrade but prices are still high because of the new chips and everyone staying indoors. So I'm gonna wait til next year when the demand dies down again. I waited this long, what's another few months.
It's also good to see how the fps gain isn't really like three times as much, it's more like 40-60% more, which isn't that big.
@@flameshana9 Sorry, but like in RDR2 (what is mostly GPU intensive) the difference is an avg. FPS of +55. 40-60% ist incredible if you’re running a modern GPU but with an old PC.
