You sum up the best part at the 18:16 mark. NOTHING more enjoyable than being out in the woods, up before twilight and getting a pot of coffee going. My mind is always so still and peaceful. The connection to the oneness of "all that is" comes so naturally and effortlessly. The gratitude too.....Quiet meditation without having to get in the lotus position and chant 'ohm' over and over. No better way to start a day, imho. Thanks, Boss.....great video. Just great!

JC, breaking away from the ‘norms’ of society, and living life, your way, makes no sense… to guidance counselors. It makes perfect sense to me! But hey, I was told I was crazy too!
When my final day comes, may it be, I see it coming, and have the time to reflect, and be thankful. For my family & friends, for the experience and adventure. For the things that mean most. And even for well-meaning misguided people. Whose advice I’ve had a lifetime to think about… and happily ignore. Thank the Lord for that!

Hey, Jim, two things. In the early part of the film you drove up in the ranger and I automatically looked for Frankie in the front seat. I hope you get to bring the old boy out there. The other is when my brother and I were kids we built a small lean-to on the edge of a swamp nearby just to hang out at - greatest feeling in the world with a small fire in winter, some birch bark and balsam twigs to get going. You'd think your fingers would snap like those twigs it was so danged cold but we loved it.

JC you brought back memories of my friends and I backpacking into the woods , and settings up tents in the middle of nowhere . One nite at 2am you could hear coyotes howling very close to our camp. Showing your face in the tent with light shining on it, listening to what was outside , brings out your primeval feelings of the unknown. Makes you feel alive. A great video, it had some Halloween moments. Thanks.

Mornin Boss, Lori, Frankie ,Tildy and Lady Layers ☕👋🏻. Thanks for another awesome video Boss 👍🏻👍🏻. I've been living in a tent for about 10 years now. Love it. I make due with what I have. Separated in 2013, Divorced in 2016 and wanted to be close to nature. Lived in a nudist resort for 9 years ( was awesome). Now taking it one day at a time floating around here and there. Thankful for family and friends who let me set up camp in their yards. God has put me where I'm needed all my life and going to continue with my faith in God's plan. I don't consider myself homeless, I think I am free from the stress of owning a house. Been there, done that. I was told by a friend that the Nomad life seemed to make me happy and smiling more than they have seen in years😊. Love your bush camp👍🏻👍🏻. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Stay safe. Backwards isn’t always backwards especially if it’s your desire and dream ! I’ve always heard and also referenced the phrase “ those that ignore history are destined to repeat it “. You as well as a few others helped me to realize that statement is wrong or at least very flawed ! The backbone of a simpler human existence is how we ALL got to where we are as far as the longevity of the human existence and that should never be overlooked and absolutely IS WORTH REPEATING ! I thank you for that realization and I’ve adjusted my life over the past several years working BACKWARDS ( according to some lol ) towards the very goal that you’ve always had and envisioned for yourself ! That could have ended differently. Mother with cubs - not good. And you are very young. I am 71 & feel like 60. Vitamins work when food don't supply what the body needs. You do the work 30/40 year olds can't. Thanks for your video, we enjoy them.Good Day to you & Lori

We both enjoyed your video. It's always good to see them. The woods are beautiful. You've made awesome camp. I hear my husband talking about camping as a young boy with his friends. He still talks of those days. A simpler time, he had great parents to allow him those opportunities. Take care, looking forward to your next video. Blessings

Reflecting on your frame of mind when you were a young teen...I thought you would find this interesting...
In Green Bay, the local tech and some area businesses put together a program for pipe fitters to fill the need. They make $18 an hour while sitting in school and school is paid for. Our local news went there to check out the program and there were 3 students there in class. Now this has the potential to pay $100 an hour after 4 years experience. We need people to work with their hands. We need gas pipes, water pipes and all kinds of pipe fitters. Everyone wants to be a keyboard cowboy.
Glad you lived in the woods and worked with your hands and your art.
It is sooo good to see you happy out there. Sometimes your joy is so volumous, you remind me of a kid in a candy store with that nice, happy smirk on your face. Love it boss! Although I have to admit, the bears spooked the crap out of me. Don't know what my hubby would have done with me in that case, for I would be frantic!!!! And unconsoleable. Yes. I love the woods.
I hope as a country we can maintain the right to own some woods for the sake of our next generations.

The way things are going, to my observations anyway, there won't be any woods left. The forest is dying off and I don't think the younger generation will ever have what we once had.

by the way, we are noticing our pine trees turning rusty as you have described before. You are a household name here. I told hubs the other day, that the trees were doing what you once described. Boss said ....boss had a video....boss and lori did this, remember? That is your super power. I loved the wood stack. One of my projects I want to accomplish is a cordwood shelter, perhaps no bigger than a 10 by 10. Not sure if it would be a reading nook, a prayer hut. ~juanita mae

Pine trees will shed needles in the fall so it's normal for them to turn now but ours were turning brown in the spring and summer. Some of those are bare now ;-(

Oh my gosh, Boss! When you were talking about hearing the noise and The Twig snap the first thing I thought about was a moose. And then I thought well you've talked about a bear that had been around the house before and I thought maybe it was a bear and then I thought well it could have just been a deer. When you showed the shot of that mother bear and her Cubs I almost fell out of my chair! I am so glad you did not have any fresh food so to say that the bear might have smelled! I'm sure you know better than I a mother and her Cubs?!...
I wish that I had my own land out in the woods as do I'm sure thousands of your viewers do if they don't already. Just recently I was camping in the Talladega National Forest in the Choccolocco Wildlife Management Area. I have a van that I converted into a tiny cabin on wheels. I have all of the conveniences but love cooking outside having my bathroom outside taking a shower outside Etc. It was the most peaceful and wonderful time. To not go anywhere to not have to run any errands to not have to see any people or hear any people or talk to any people. Like you to listen to the sounds of the Woods of the creatures walking through the leaves and cracking sticks with their Hooves or feet. To see the deer running across the Forest Road. To listen to the hoot owls at night and the birds chirping! I should have turned my phone off but being a female alone and 63 years old and having some disabilities I thought it was probably not a good idea. However when I did receive some phone calls I quickly hit the dismiss button look to see who it was and if it was a good friend I text them back and said I'm in the woods I'm unable to respond at this time but I am fine! It was no lie it was some of the finest moments of my life- the peace and the tranquility and calmness or something that was much needed. I was hoping to try and stretch my stay to two weeks and tried to make sure that I had enough supplies from me and my two dogs. Sadly I have been watching the weather and there was a kind of ugly storm coming our Direction and I've seen people get stuck in the very place that I was and then have the tow truck get stuck trying to get them out! Since I'm not in a four-wheel drive and it's a old conversion van and I'm pulling a cargo trailer with my solar panels on it, I decided it prudent to get the heck out of Dodge and head on home. However I will be departing again soon and deploying a SUV tent that looks much like the tent you pitched but it just attaches to the back of my old Suzuki Sidekick and head back to the woods hopefully in Tennessee.
Thanks so much for sharing boss I think you and Lori and the pups would have been one of very few people or two of very few people that I would have enjoyed sharing the experience with because you both appreciate it so much. As you would say best to you and Lori and the pups and God bless you!

What a sweet spot BossMan. Thanks for sharing the process. The bears at the end are the icing on the cake. They were just passing through. I must confess, that it was good to learn that even you, at times, are wigged out by the sounds of the night. The sounds are magnified and our imaginations can take off. I am starting the get the urge to backpack again. Going solo to face those fears. We stretch ourselves when we get out of our comfort zones. It really is worth it. I need to get in shape for those adventures, but at least hiking is on the agenda in the days ahead. All the best to you and Lori and the pups. God bless.

What is killing the balsam? Do you think that moose was peeking at you when you were working? That was one big-arse bear! And babies! I think this may be one of my favorite videos of yours, because you look so happy. It reminded me of a summer where the neighbors fostered their 15-year-old nephew who was falling in with a bad crowd in L.A. So they sent him to the country. He was just appalled, which we thought was pretty funny. I had 2 teenaged girls staying with us and they never lacked for amusement. One day he asked us what we did all the time, when there was "nothing to do." Well, we had a working farm, so we did work every day (and the girls did, too). I told him "I like to go out in the woods and sit there very quietly. If I can hide from the dogs, wild critters will sometimes come out and I can watch them doing their things." He thought I was joking. Nope, it was my favorite thing to do. Then I said "And for real entertainment, we watch the ground crack." Oldest joke in the world, but he'd never heard it.

We think alike Peggy. It's always city folk who ask what we do to keep from getting bored. Ha!!! I wish I had time to get bored. I treasure every moment where I can take some time to just sit and do nothing. Maybe I'll take some time today for it, after I run to the dump, editi some video footage, split firewood, do maintenance to the tractor and give the dogs a toe clip :-)))
