Just missing the Clio Williams, the Mk1 and Mk2 5 Turbo’s
I was hoping to see a Clio 1.8 16v or 'valver'
Fabulous cars under appropriate in their day they started with the dauphine gordine they keep making great crazy cars
And also missing a Renault Fuego and Renault 18. Gorgeous looking cars.
Anyone who has owned a renaultsport will know exactly what this vid is about. For the money you can't get any other car in my opinion that will keep you smiling the way theses cars do. I currently own a 172 cup a 197 and a megane 275 trophy and have absolutely no intention of selling them.any time soon. All very capable cars on track too.
I have own a clio 16v 1.8 mk1 and a megane 225 sport and absolutely loved them to bits. Renaultsport are just different to other manufacturers
@@paulmichael3844 totally agree just make ypu smile everytime you drive them.
All you need to know about Renault: ua-cam.com/video/_8vInHpOUYo/v-deo.html
I have a 172 cup too - great car - sits beside my pulsar
@@richardgoodman1310 I would never sell mine they are mega fun for what they are. A pulsar very nice you don't see many of them about now.👌
Gotta say CC have smashed it out the park w the platform and the podcast, these videos are the Chris content w all need
Thank you!
Came here to say this. You can see Harris is like a lot of us, we love all things about cars, the geeky stuff, and it’s brilliantly put together. We’ll done CC
@@collectingcars you’re supremely welcome
Yeah, hes like one of your mates you talk shit with about cars down at the pub, asks all the right questions on the podcast etc!!
^This^
Chris is always capable of transmitting his enthusiasm.. one of the best in the business.
As for the collection..timeless.. but in my opinion missing the very very important Clio Williams ... i suggest seeing Harry's garage video on the 182 that he has.. Renault at its best.
Agreed, I was thinking the same! Clio Williams!
The Gordini Turbo too
See some of my vids 😜
@@darrenprior6339 yes they have many good cars (21 turbo, r5 alpine, r8 gordini...) but the Renault 4 was genius at the time
Just found this for some reason. As a 'very' long term owner of a 309gti and a dabble into the 306gti too, I can resonate with the French hot hatch feeling. Plenty of much bigger scalps in both of my frenchies and massive smiles. Great collection there and fantastic to feel the enthusiasm!
Renault Hatch Backs will always be underrated. Thanks to remind me of driving and enjoying the ones I have owned Chris!
Underrated? By who? The press and most enthusiasts consider Renault to have made some of the best drivers cars consistently since the 90's.
@@matmulder badge snobs
@@acarguy3773 I feel the interiors let them down so much
@@Sweaty__Sheep the interior doesn't matter when you're going down a great road, that's what these cars are for. They compromise other things to have the best driving experience, bear in mind how cheap they were new. But the interiors are not great, the newer ones got a lot better though.
Phase 1 clio v6 for sale in Canada doe 70k right now. Still underrated in your opinion?
Anything car related and Chris Harris is superb
What a collection on Renaults
182 best car I’ve ever owned
My First “Quick” Car was a 11 Turbo. I loved it. Fantastic memories in that Car.
I had a 9 turbo, great car, and great times
@@jamesspicer5628 did yours have the same heat sink issues as mine did. It didn’t like to start straight after a spirited drive.
Loved the little car though. I went from a MK II Escort To the 11 Turbo and it was mind blowing with its little remote plippeer thingy that you aimed at the rear view mirror to lock/unlock…..
Mine was a phase 1 Renault 5 GT Turbo on a D plate
Really nice collection but in my opinion 4 models are missing:
-Renault 19 16v Most underrated Renault hot hatch by far
-Renault Clio Williams
-Renault 21 Turbo (Quadra)
-Renault 5 GT turbo
This isn't a video about the best Renaults, it was just a video showing the renaults that were for sale on Collecting Cars at the time of recording.
Considering when each of these cars were launched and what else was available at the time, there's no denying these were probably the most special cars that you could actually afford. Great to see Mr. Harris giving them such an honourable feature.
Had a 19 16V back in day. Handling was cracking, bolstered seats superb. Thanks CC!
I had a 275 trophy and was genuinely shocked at the front end, never experienced turn in like it since, special car! I did expect to see a clio Williams and 5 turbo here though!
whether this is a Ferrari crash or aaan ua-cam.com/video/E6TFRgk7Qgo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Doitchannel
Chris Harris for the win 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 love from South Africa!!
Chris, Please? Hearing you talk with such passion of manual hatchbacks has taken me back a long way! There is a severe lack of Nova SRI appreciation in the modern world. Are you the man to eleviate this problem?
I really miss my 172 cup. Such a fantastic little car.
Chris Harris gets a break from filming Top Gear and cranks out an incredible amount of video content for his fans. LEGEND.
Had a clio 172 cup, I simply don't understand how any other car on the planet could beat it on a windy B-road
I had one too - fookin' epic bit of kit. Should of kept it for the weekends.
Renault wre good for handling had a renualt 19 16v
I had a 220 Trophy. It was very fast but the current Type R is faster even in slow corners.
I have a 182, nicely modified. People laugh at me when I say the same thing, but we know the truth ;)
172 Cup was probably my favourite Renault. S1 106 Rallye was the one though. The most predictable lift-off oversteer I’ve ever driven.
What a collection of cars! Owned my 182 for 9 years, can’t beat it for the money.
Mine will be on year 18 of Clio 182 ownership this year. Still have it. Still drive it. Still love it. :)
@@darrensmith9356 wow! Have you had it since new? 🤩
@@jwmeale3058 Yep :) Ordered it in September 2004 and it arrived on the 9th December 2004.
Love them all, I’ll always fly the French flag high. Just missing a Williams , Alien green 200 ,a 172 cup and a 5 turbo
Agree with all of those except the 172 Cup, the 182 trophy is the definitive mk2 Clio, don't feel like they need a 172 as well imo. I own a 200, sadly not in alien green but I didn't want to stand out that much haha.
Chris, they might not hail from an iconic sports car brand, but in their own way so many landmark cars, and importantly, still (mostly) accessible to most of us mere mortal.
Brings back so many good memories...Had a Renault 5 GT Turbo in the 80's, was a D Reg. Then onto the Megane RS, and just recently went from a RS 250 to a RS 280 Cup...Sad to see this will be then end of the RS in terms of ICE so will not let it go..
My father has the exact same 1600SX A110, one of the very last "Berlinette" ever produced with the double wishbone rear suspension! Everything Chris said about it is true and even more! The car is so much fun to drive and slide around with all the weight on the rear wheels! And being 2m tall, it's also one of the hardest cars to drive! We're running it alongside a mk1 Lotus Elise and these cars are perfect together!
I had a 182 clio and still miss it immensely. Pure simplicity and all the car you’ll ever need on the road.
Amazing collection! Keep up the good work Chris this channel is awesome.
I bought the Spider, great little car and gets an amazing reaction whenever I go out in it. First saw one at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1996 doing parade laps, and wanted one every since. Now I have the UK press car!
Renault have always been such a niche enthusiast brand, love every single one of those cars, none of them perfect but all buzzing with personality and fun factor
It's funny because Renault is actually the mainstream brand in France, the cars for anyone.
Being a Francophone Cajun from South Louisiana AND a car person. I wish for the day I can drive/own a Renault spider on a back bayou road. Unfortunately, Renault never sold them here. I can remember finding it on Project Gotham Racing 2 and driving that car for HOURS. Thankfully im older and am starting to make more money so my dream may be a reality sooner than later. A man can hope.
Salut Cher ami francophone, Longue vie à vos rêves!
En France, on dit souvent: "L'espoir fait vivre"...👍
The Clio Williams will always be my favorite classic hot hatch.
god i miss my 182,,, driving through my village and the alarm randomly going off,,, amazing drive tho 100%
Another brilliant piece by Mr Harris, what a collection! 🔥
I really miss my 172. You can’t beat an F4R engine on throttle bodies for engagement. It’s brutally raw
If only you knew how long I've waited for Chris to give his take on the original A110.
A 10min piece on the (original) Alpine A110 would be most welcome.
Bless you Collecting Cars.
Thank you.
Love the video. Had a 1.2 clio grande on a t plate it loved to rev and take corners at speed thank you for the nostalgia
We had a robin’s egg blue R4L when I was a boy. We lived in Olton, outside of Birmingham, and travelled to Wales in it on holiday. A very special little car. Slow, but comfortable and surprisingly roomy.
As a big renault fan (as you can see from my channel icon), i am happy that Chris is into Renault as well. Way too many ppl say Renault is shit bc it's French (or just bc it's Renault). I've had 1 Clio and 2 Meganes so far and they never let me down.
We love you Chris! Thanks collecting cars!
I missed the 'throwabouty' of some of my Renaults that I had owned. Been out of them for years settling for bigger family cars and now a Jag F Type R. So I happened across a 1 owner RS Twingo and snapped it up. Now I'm out in the lanes on Dartmoor having fun! Gosh it's a great little motor.
Sir, that green sweater of yours is truly fantastic.
Missing a 200 Cup
I have driven all of them apart from the alpine, all of them are awesome driving and hugely capable cars. As a mechanic I detested working on every single one of them 😂
Thx for your Renault's passion ❤️ it's a plaisure to see you drive those cars each time .
A M3RS owner.
I live next door to, what was a Renault dealer, in 1993, I was 13 and in the window there was a silver Clio RT. In 2004 I brought it, it had 115000 miles on it, I put phase 1 Renault 19, 16v wheels on it, I absolutely loved it, sold it a few years later, the kid wrote it off within a week 🥺☺️🤘
whether this is a Ferrari crash oor an ua-cam.com/video/E6TFRgk7Qgo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Doitchannel
We had a four when I was a kid the noises it made cornering were amazing... Squeeeeeel!
This video has a real sense of Chris going back to his motoring journalism roots. I first encountered his enthusiastic style when he featured on Renault TV back in the early noughties
Chris being brilliant, as ever - I'd buy them all too, if I could...
Fantastic video, these cars are where it is at for pure enjoyment in today’s world.
When Chris is involved it doesn't matter what he's showing us around, what a joy, Rj in Oz
Absolutely love your videos
Chris spending time with cars is a magical thing
A mate of mine had a Trophy, from shortly after it was released, and used it as his daily - that thing could seriously hussle.
surprised? it has 169hp per ton :D
No 5gt turbo one of my most enjoyed cars I have owned
Amazing collection I love every one of them, weirdly I would drive away in the Renault 4 😂 thanks for the insight Chris 👍
Clio 182 cup the BEST little Hot hach ever
Great video and very nice collection. Missing the Renault 5 Alpine and Turbo 1!
Love the colour coded jumper to the car covers
That's some collection!
I have a Clio 182 cup and sometimes I wish I had a type R. Then I go out and drive the thing hard and love everything about it.
Type R engine and gearbox are great but the Clios handle so well. Both great cars. Love my 182 Trophy.
I have a Williams 1 and a Ph1 172 :) Awesome fun! I also owned a R5GTT Raider! All amazing.
Just have to say it is awesome to see Chris presenting the video wearing a 2 euro beanie from Spar. What a legend.
Owned a Renault 5 Alpine back in the day. (Gordini turbo here) Apart from torque steer it was great fun and I just wish I still had it today.
I got so excited when this came up on my feed I love these cars I'm about to sell my 197 and buy a 275 trophy later this year
I have both mate and you certainly won't be let down with the megane trophy its a awesome car. Had mine 16 months now and absolutely love it. Had my 197 10 year and still a awesome wee car.
Loved the Frankie Howard reference!
A genuine presenter with genuine drivers cars - now so rare and costly that you hardly ever get to see them in their original environment.
So glad I was able to purchase and own a small part of the Renault hot hatch history, I currently own a RB Clio 182 not a trophy but God do I love driving the little car.
That Clio V6 Phase 2 and Spider are my favourite, though I much prefer the former.
I am sure many of you remember the crazy renault space (mini van) with a f1 engine in it. Gotta love that one too
i got a megane rs 250 in october and i fell in love with from day 1
Love my Renaults. Had a 30TX 2.7 V6i when i was 17 !, then onto a Fuego 2.0 GTX, and a Fuego Turbo 1.6. Then a 5 GTT. Now have a stunning GTA 2.5 V6 Turbo.
Wow, what a fantastic collection. I love the 5 GTL and the MK1 and 2 Clio's. I've owned a 5 and a few MK2 Clio's, MK2 Mégane and many other models besides. I'm fact my dad had several two so I've been brought up around these cars and remember the spider and the V6 Clio launching.
My dad also had one of the very first Mégane Coupes in 1996 and after all these years I finally picked up my 1997 Sunflower yellow Mégane coupe, ok so it's not got the legendary F7R engine (mines a 1.6) but the car is rare these days and it does somehow feel special every time I drive it.
You really hit the nail on the head Chris when you said Renault knew how to make the ordinary feel exotic. Back in 96 when my dad had his first coupe it turned heads everywhere and not many cars in its class could go around corners the way it did. To put things into perspective the Ford Puma was still a year or so away and the mk1 Focus around two years.
Some good old friends there from my days with the RUK Press fleet ........... there was a blue V6 too
f1 225 my daily driver. sticks to the road like sh*t to an army blanket. love it
I had never seen the beauty of a Renault Clio collection 👌
15 years ago I bought a Megane GT 165 ....yep I know not the fastest but really miss that car and pound for pound best car i ever bought.....
Had a clio 172 face lift in 2002 on eibach springs and koni shocks
Handling was another level
WAY more interesting than an Italian exotic collection..top job guys
This video kinda gave me some tears on my eyes, knowing that Renault Sport is no longer producing any car, that's sad for me as a lot of people understimate them and they are good value for money
What are you talking about? The Megane RS and Clio RS are both still produced by them?
@@Orcawhale1 what Clio RS mate?
@@Wolf_Larsen Is it out of production?
@@Wolf_Larsen Clio IV RS
@@Orcawhale1 the Clio is no more produced ans the Megane soon they will stop it, it's the last Gen of RS cars
Even the name changed in Formule 1 to Alpine something
I've had two clio 200s and one megane 250 cup, Amazing cars!!!
I still remember the Renault Gordini when it was introduced it preceded the Renault 5 turbo way back in the 80’s. I used to think the Williams tuned cars with the beautiful metallic blue paint jobs were the pinnacle of Renault fast cars for the average working man. Okay
Well done, Chris
that renault spider sport, I rate it more than the lotus elise of the time. It is pure driving joy and the size of the handbrake makes it obvious Renault wanted you to pull it, regularly.
Alex Goy has a great carfection video on the clio v6 well worth a watch
TBH I find it quite sad when a car company pawns off its heritage collection/press fleet like this. A collection of like-new examples of significant cars just cast out into the ether. Hopefully they all go to respectful homes.
I love a 90s Renault, currently got a Safrane.
Used to change cars every couple of years. Bought a 197 cup in 2008. Still got it. Not bought another car since.
Excellent production
Fancy driving your old clio V6? It can be arranged
Love this! :D
I want more video with Chris Harris please!
Coming right up!
@@collectingcars yayyyy!!!!
Quality stuff!
I love that Alpine!
Amazing 🙌🙌 would of loved to see a R5 GT turbo
This is a WhooWhoo Collection 💐🕊
Great video.. many well made points.. my favorite being “Renault know how to make affordable exotica..” long live the wee bearded man
So back in '91 my mum ordered a Clio RT in that colour, and at the last minute the dealer had to swap it for a tungsten one. The spec was identical, apart from the electric mirrors, so I wonder if this was originally meant to be hers, and what turned into my first car when I turned 17. Nostalgic memories.
Great vid... Had a phase 1 V6 Clio way back. It was fun in town 'cos it turned heads. Okay out on the road, but not as rewarding as the Integrale Evo II it replaced...(Yes, BooHoo me) Recently bought a 172 Clio which is a hooligan, though still has same driving position problem as the V6, so working on lowering the driver's seat.
I’ve been looking at the 275 trophy a lot recently. Clio V6 amazing very rare in yellow
Holy crap... completely forgot about the Sport Spider. Still looks amazing. Also didn't realise how tiny the A110 is. Clio V6... crazy but I want one.
Super cool cars, just missing a mint Clio Williams 1 for the full set
Will never forget my 182 😭
My first car was a black Clio 1.4 RT 1992 (J plate) purchased in 1998 with about 55k miles on. Spent about £2k on audio equipment. Blew the engine up, probably because I didn't know about oil changes and services. Replaced the engine and kept it going. Replaced it with...a 1992 (J) 16v in 447 Sport blue. Basically a Williams light. I still think it's the most chuckable car I've ever driven. Mainly because it was cheap at the time so no fear. Replaced with much faster and more powerful cars over the years but none of them really touched that Valver for its ability to be thrown at a corner with no fear of problems.
