    I think my water pump has died as the engine is overheating and too much pressure, heaters not working! This helped so much! Thank you for the amount of detail!

    Focus st diesel engine died while driving rac mechanic says timing belt had snapped . New engine or re-build ? Todays labour costs are soaring. Uk based if anyone has been quoted for a rebuild before . Car still need to be inspected as its just happened

      @axores20  4 місяці тому

      No engine rebuild. Just replace the rockers. Check for no damage on the camshafts. New timing belt kit and also you will need to replace the chain and tensioner. New injector seals. Job done 😊

    Hi can you remember where you got the timing tools from?

      Above flywheel locking tool. You really need that to remove the crank bolt.
      Camshaft you can use 6mm drill bit to lock it in place. 😊

    Hi, can you explain me something please , if you take out the lead where you fill up the engine with oil you will see there is a kind of chain inside , that don't need to be replaced? Thank you

    • @axores20
      @axores20  9 місяців тому

      Hi. If you keep your oil clean and make service abit early it should last. I never had one for repair before. And to change it its a big job.

      @@CIP_ST it uses the small chain to run the inlet camshaft from the exhaust camshaft, the exhaust camshaft is ram from the crank.

    Thinking of buying a 2018 2.0 TDCI ST Focus - but getting confused over differing stories - some claim the diesel does not have timing belt but chain where others claim it is belt.

    • @axores20
      @axores20  6 місяців тому

      It's a good choice for the engines. If you buy one with full service you should be fine. These engines have belts and chains. Chain is used to drive power from one cameshaft to another. This chain can last you over 200k if you service it properly. Another 2 issues is the leak from the thermostat and leak from the egr cooler. But that happen egr after 150k and thermostat could happen between 70k ☺️to 100k. But not all cars suffer from it. If you will be a taxi driver then you probably need to change those early. Under than that it is a fantastic and reliable engine.

      @@axores20 thanks for this.
      But i am still concerned. It is an 18 plate and at the moment not sure on service history - only done 38k miles.
      So if the belt were to snap what damage would occur? Is it similar to any interference engine and can damage the valves and head?

    • @axores20
      @axores20  6 місяців тому

      @@Pitch-Dark-Paranormal its an interference engine. I would say the belt should be done in 7 years or 100k to be safe.
      Ford says 120k or 10 years. I believe it's too long. 7 years is ideal.
      By the way you need to make sure what engine is on it. After 2018 they fit some ecoblue engines. That one's belt is more complicated because it's a wet belt. Should be done for 6 years or 70k.
      Ford again says 10 years or 140k. Everyone knows they snap earlier.
      Good news for standard engines if the belt breaks you don't need take the head off. Only the rockers will get bent. That's a good design of PSA engine on this ford. Check if it is eco blue. If you got AD blue it's an ecoblue. You should buy the car. I love Ford's. I won't buy another brand for sure.

      @@axores20 I read that Ford state 120k or 10 years for the chain - not the belt. The belt they claim 60k or 5 years...
      So still confused.
      The car will be for my other half and she wants the car but i'm just worried as for spending the money i want to knw it is safe - or just not pay the 2 year warranty and instead pay for the belt to be replaced so for peace of mind.

      Also sorry did not see regarding Ad Blue - I did enquire and they said it isn't - and also i read that the 2018 ST2 did not require adblue.
      I checked the filler cap and olny one for diesel.
      I also noticed in the boot on the spare wheel lid system there was a cable and plug connector - not sure what that is.

    For some reason I can’t get kit from Ford that contains water pump for 2.0 diesel ST, only belt/idler/tensioner

      @axores20  8 місяців тому

      Hi. Normally ford supplies all the kit for these cars. Maybe try another dealer. Also try euro car parts. They have good quality parts and prices. 🙂
