3rd Gen Ram 2500 Steering Linkage Upgrade

- My 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 needed a steering upgrade. The factory Y Link set up is garbage so I opted for a newer style T Link setup from the late 2008 and newer (I know right, they switched to the better kind after they made mine 😂) and I explain how simple it was to update to a newer style set up without going complete after market. This is same for 2500 and 3500 from 2003-2008.
Got this setup in the garage right now, very handy to watch someone else do it first. Going on an 06 Cummins
We're did you order it. I need part#
I have a lifted 2008 Ram 2500. I put it on bags all four. It was perfect until some idiot was pulling trailer with no lights turning and I couldn't see it . I hit it going like 45-55...bent my sway bar track bar ect. Looking fir replacement parts which will work with my truck. My lift has it up around 12 inches
Thanks for a straight forward detailedish video lol . For real.
I have a ton of suspension parts I need to install on my supra, whenever you're ready ;D haha
I have an 03 3500... on my 3rd driver's side joint while finally replacing the passenger side drag link.
New moog part from O'Reilly's in Gilbert,AZ! Funny what that little white sticker can tell you! The 03 setup was worse the part were mine is "crimped" has a little slop! On a 4x4 you'd think it would have been a solid piece going to each tie rod end but that's too easy(So called smart to do!)! Anyways thanks for the purchase!
Yeah that crimped part is something that doesn't sit right with me. 😵
Need to upgrade that panhard bar to a straight version with hiem joints.
There are many things Ram could have done to improve their HD front ends. I have a fourth gen now. Which comes with this T style steering. Haven't needed to upgrade anything except sway bar extensions and quick release which I made. Is the track bar the reason for speed wobbles?
Thanks for a very informative video. One question, did you replace the pitman arm? I hear some say that you need a new with a different angel for the T-steering.
Great job thank you for sharing the video
How much you pay for?
Can't remember I wanna say about $300
I wonder if on my 06 pitman arm the same. I seen some videos that they had to reaplace Pittman arm
That's a great question and definitely something to consider. Maybe you can cross reference pitman arm part numbers or at least their application years. The forums should have you covered though! 👍🏽⚡👊🏽
Hi again i just did this. Thanks for showing. Did you grease the rods or is it pre grease? I did not put any grease 😩
They grease during manufacturing but always a good idea to do it yourself at install or at very least in 10k miles and every other oil change
I am glad it worked! Please like this video if you haven't already!!!
Thanks so much!!! I will!!, liked and subbed
How long did the moog parts last any update?
@@bran.450 I know longer have this truck. I have a 2012 and have replaced the factory set up with this exact part number. That was replaced about 4 years ago and about 75,000 miles on the same front tie rod and drag link. She has even been all the way to Moab Utah and gone through fins n thing loaded down with about 1,500 of payload. I’d say holding up just fine. Thanks for asking!
@@NoblemansXchange awesome thanks for the reply!
So for a cummins you need a different one?
No this will be the same parts my truck is gas but still a 2500 and “heavy duty” application using the same suspension and steering components only difference is the spring rates for the difference in weight between the diesel and gas engines.
@@NoblemansXchange thank you very much for your quick response. I really appreciate it. I'm actually looking for the parts now. Keep it up
can i get a to the point, informative video with thorough explanations, i dont care about your lift, the y link, tire wear, just want to know, the best replacement link, why where and how to. and set up a tripod, or edit, but looking at the floor of your garage while waiting for the part info was so annoying. part number, and install specs? somewhere between 6mins and 8 mins. but still doesn't explain if its direct bolt on and replacement or if it works and is worth it.
Nah, you’ll have to wait for that or find out through your own experience!!! 🫶🏽
He literally said it's a straight bolt on. You must be the type that like everything handled to them in their hand huh
Hi i have question, i have 2007 2500 6.7, can i just order a T style 2009? Will it fit? Or? Tnx
As long as it's 4wd it will fit. 👍🏾
Tnx so much, imma get a 2009 t style then
Hi i have another question, do i have to buy a different steering shock absorber? Or can i use the one i have already. Tnx
"Steering stabilizer"
If i were to get a new steering stabilizer.. do i get 2007 or 2009? Tnx again
Do you think I could add this to my 96 ram 2500?
I was wondering the same thing. I would assume as long as the taper on the end spindles are the same as your existing knuckles. If not you can ream your knuckles out with a drill bit specifically designed for it. I would head over to the ram forums for a better answer though.
I just got done putting the T steering on a 96 dodge Cummins 3500. I used the part numbers from a 98-99dodge Hd t-steering!
@@dirtbikewrecker4475 any modifications to make it fit?
Are you still happy with the upgrade?
I was very happy with the upgrade. I have since traded this truck in for a full size crew cab ram 2500. However I never experienced any issues with the upgrade and it was an instant improvement in both highway/towing and offroad while disconnecting my sway bar for max articulation. You won't be disappointed.
