Love the terrain, absolutely can't justify spending that much on STL files however, especially considering it's personal use only. $700 plus for terrain STL files ? Yeah, nah.
You're absolutely right. I had to follow the general pricing of WargameForge. But after speaking to the owner, he's allowed me to give some pretty big discounts. You can use coupon code 8MM50 to get 50% off the price of the bundles for the STLs only (not for printed packs). Let me know if this helps!
This is really cool because I think smaller scale can really showcase a setting through the terrain. 3d printing seems like a way to support smaller creators that really enhance the hobby. I would love to see more terrain (and game systems) that captures unique locations such as underhives, cyberpunk cities, ash wastes, complex cavern systems, and mega space stations. I find that the dieselpunk industrial aesthetic that's so pervasive in current terrain sets doesn't fully capture the imaginative concepts found in 40k lore.
Everything paints so much faster as well, for people who enjoy the end result of painting their stuff but always feel like its a slog at 28mm, all of a sudden it feels like nascar level faster. The world building also just explodes in possibilities past just dieselpunk/undustrial aesthetic you mention.
Great to see you focusing on the smaller scales. It would be good to mention some of the companies that have kept 6/8mm wargaming alive with their cast metal and hard plastic kits (models and terrain) such as Troublemaker Games and Vanguard Minis as well.
Now this is EPIC. I love War Scenery too. When I was younger, I think i would have liked 8mm just to get as much density as possible. But when i actually started, I didnt like how tiny and fiddly everything was, i wanted them big enough for me to appreciate and personalize while filling the table. Now Im finding that 8mm really suits what I want to see when I look at the table, density of terrain and hordes of soldiers
LOVE what you guys are doing here. I mean, it's a natural progression to focus on scenery, but you're you're doing it big...and small, actually. Kudos!
Hey guys, if you're looking to feature more small scale terrain for legions imperialis I'd highly recommend checking out the files from the lazy forger, grimdark terrain and bits blitz designs. Lazy forger has beyond incredible detail at scale, grimdark terrain is an entire modular system that expands every month and bits blitz has a tone of tiny dudes ships and crates that can help world build and fit well as little civies and milita/gangers for cities. Looking forward to seeing more small scale stuff :)
I am not even currently play WH40k, but terrain is so beatiful that I would build diorama if id have space. Man we have come long way since 1996 when I started. As we were kids with very 2nd starter box, our terrain was what is the box (cardboard cuts) and some toy scenery :D
Can't wait for some LImp battle reports! Might have to make a trip over from New York to get some batreps in! We have a local group near Albany that is very excited for 8mm Epic combat! That table looks awesome!
With how excited Matt is for Legion Imperialis i hope MWG plays a good amount of games of it. While i'm interested in the game already having Titans from Titanicus and it making a great excuse to buy a Maruader bomber or 2 i worry it'll just be like Titanicus and Aeronautica. Some play and support at the start then fall off with no one playing. Even on MWG Titanicus is like a once in a few months type of thing.
That table looks great, the painters did a really great job. Checked out the printer and it looks like an awesome machine, sadly I will need to wait for them to get cheaper, stupid adult decisions .
The fact that you're selling the stuff in a physical form absolutely sells it for me. I barely have enough time without 3d printers for my hobby as is, so needing to invest in one just to partake in so many of the great designs for minis and terrain people have been putting out is just about impossible to justify. Sincerely, thank you for not just leaving everything as only .stl files that I can really only just look at.
Thats Sick!! How long did it take to paint of of the buildings? I have a similar setup with 1/144 scale buildings but most of them arent painted. Maybe one day it will look as great as this!!!
Imagine trying to hand paint all that terrain XD be so so long. Air brush all the way. Or a couple rattle cans if your wanting to be more on the cheap side
You know the 1/265 scale that Battletech and Legions Imperialis are both in, if you calculate it, has the average human male at around 7mm tall, or 7mm scale. (steeples fingers) Heh heh heh...
if i cans ay, pelase stop sayign 6 mm and 8mm are the same, they arnt, and GW was doing a bad and changignthe scale fo armies so that means everyone has to buy everythign new again, its a bad business practice and shouldnt be praised,
No, they're correct in saying that there is huge variance in old epic models, yes the closest baseline is about 6mm on infantry, but there's variance there too. I think the fairest thing to say is 6mm makes other stuff like titans look even bigger by comparison while as 8mm can make a titan adjacent to it look a bit less impressive. This tends to matter more in terms of basing. The issue for GW won't be the new scale, it will be how do they increase perceived value for a big box of like 6 taks that used to be 12 dollars, metal, and fit in a little blister pack. Aeronautica had that problem, the big boxes were an ok value but the the individual unit boxes were like "who wants 4-6 planes for 60$?".
I'm always shocked when gamers, who can often be the most annoyingly accurate exact rule-lawyer people there are, are OK with using a measurement as a scale. I mean, I get it -- when Hasbro says "6 inch scale" they mean 1/12. They just gave a scale a nickname. But it does us all no good. When this video (which is great btw) says "___ mm scale is because the average dude is 6 feet" we are supposed to then know the height of every character in our game? Just get a unit of measurement and stick by it, like 6" = 1 inch, so it's ____ scale. People are all confused by this because there is no standard of scale from before. I know they use bases more so than model height, but that doesn't help. Anyway, just hate it as a toy collector when someone says "5 inch scale" or something. It's like, what does 5 inches equal, in which line?" lol

@@miniwargaming that does help quite a lot thank you, I'll look into placing an order now. How long will that code be valid for ?
now this, THIS IS EPIC!
Got a sealed epic hierophant sitting on my shelf, right next to my forge world hierophant lol.

That terrain looks amazing. I'm really excited to see how the new epic plays.
will likely be as terrible as every other GW game unfortunately.
Speaking of Epic 40k. You guys should try the 40k Apocalypse rules with 6mm figures. I've heard it is fun and works well.
it works very well
Can´t wait to see to your first LI battle report.

Great looking Terrain! I'd be excited to see something less city like, more nature based terrain.
Definitely looking forward to filling my table with awesome terrain! Thanks a ton for the help 😊

That's an impressive table. outstanding work!

Why...why must I wait?! 😢
Just to suffer ☹️
Awesome video!!
That terrain looks epic! I played Epic many years ago when it first came out, and I still have my armies in a box somewhere. I am tempted ...
Loved it, this was awesome, been trying to buy the old realm of battle boards for epic! Making me think about a 3d printer
NEver played Battletech, but their minis was some of the first Sci-Fi minis I saw pictures of and really liked them.
I'm excited! 💥
Now that is just awesome

You definitely should!
That is looking great
0:15 Years later, you're still butthurt. Now that's epic, lol.
This looks brilliant. Would love to make a monorail XD
That would be cool actually. Now I need to do that. Thanks!
@@miniwargaming right its just begging to be made. Now wether it moves and how thats the question.
Mines gonna be push powered XD.
Oh, this is an Epic 40k table, not an epic 40k table. Too bad.

Hoping for a narrative campaign :0
this is Epic!
Really want to see epic scale fantasy happening. Basically want to make a full Minas Tirith, etc. viable. Bigger armies, and return of movement trays…
That table looks great, the painters did a really great job. Checked out the printer and it looks like an awesome machine, sadly I will need to wait for them to get cheaper, stupid adult decisions .

And then Legion Imperialis newer came😢 hope it's realised soon
Dare i say beyond epic????
Thats Sick!! How long did it take to paint of of the buildings? I have a similar setup with 1/144 scale buildings but most of them arent painted. Maybe one day it will look as great as this!!!
Airbrushing sped it up a lot. I think it was a total of 2 weeks of painting.

So cool! Sadly, I do not play Epic Scale games.
this game board looks amazing and im soo sad that epic is only returning for 30K not for 40k. i would have loved to play that
Baby steps, if legions does well, any terrain collection will work perfectly for both 30k and 40k epic
Ok big question what Legions r u guys r planning to paint when Legion Imperialis is launch?
All of them. ;)
Would you consider selling stls? Or running a market place for them?
We do! At MiniWarGamingforge.com
@@miniwargaming any discounts for silver vault members, of which I am one?
Do you guys have any vendors who print 3D 6-10mm terrain for sale that you like? I ask because I don't have access to a printer myself.
Why yes we do. miniwargamingforge.com/collections/8mm-printed-terrain
This all being said... are you gonna be playing battletech?
Why is the cost “half” on the P1P?
Half of the cost of an X1 Carbon, which is their premiere printer. I should have been more clear about that.
I was hoping to learn about designing/building/painting 8mm terrain but this felt like just a long advertisment
So let me get this straight the printed terrain is 5x more expensive than the GW terrain?
You might need to explain what a mm is - for the peoples in the old countries, like USA.
6mm is approximately 1/4 inch
Battletech content when?

So all I have to do is complain and I get my own video? Sweet. This table is not epic at all. Not enough ... hmm lets say LEDs and laser
Post it to me 😊. 😃😄😁😆😅5 Smile's.

Epically brilliant work Matt as I am using MWG dice to gift my adversaries 🎲🎲 🎉
Epic? I dunno, but it’s freaking badass
And not a single piece of "GrimDark Terrain's" amazing stuff. I'm sorry...but you sir Epicly fail!
