Rowling still supports H/G. People just keep misinterpreting and spreading disinformation about what she ACTUALLY said in the interview. Even her supposed "regrets" about Ron/Hermione (NOT Harry/Ginny) were more her second guessing and questioning herself than a "regret". Besides, she only said "in SOME ways" Hermione and Harry are a better fit (not in all), and that is only in comparison to Ron/Hermione, not Harry/Ginny. And then a week later, she says in an Exeter talk that Harry truly loves Ginny.

I think that Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson had chemistry, so they would have been better in the FILMS, not the BOOKS. Also, Ginny is particularly annoying in the films. I think it would have been better if Ginny started hanging out alot more with harry and maybe show attraction for each other in the 5 book. Also think Ginny should have went with harry in the 7 book looking for horcruxes. We can see them more together see better story with ron running away. We just didnt see them together till the half way through the 6th book.

As for what Rowling said in that 2014 interview, I think most of the media and people misunderstood it and thought she had repented. She never said that she regretted it, only said that she wrote Ron and Hermione's relationship in order to fulfill a personal wish, and that, while she has little credibility for their compatibility due to the differences in their personalities, she also mentions that they would have been. well if they improve their flaws over time.
Fun Fact: she wasn’t going to kill Fred at first, she was gonna kill mr. Weasley in the fifth book, but didn’t have the heart to because he was too much like her father.
Good thing too. Harry already lost many father figures. Arthur's death would have been the last straw.

In general, it doesn't matter in the Harry Potter movies, that Dumbledore was gay. The stories were about Harry Potter and of course his friends. Dumbledore's greatness and dedication as headmaster to Hogwarts, was his sacrifice to teaching made him GREATER THAN...
Precisely, it doesn’t matter much that he’s gay. It’s an interesting point, but it’s not necessarily something that needs to be waxed poetic about (except for maybe in fantastic beasts). After all, we don’t see any of the faculty members’ relationships.
Precisely what I like about Dumbledore being gay is the way it ws included and how it fits into the movies without messing with the story. It isn't too obvious or in the spotlight in a way of "hey I am here and I'm gay, look at me" like some other movies do. It isn't forced, Dumbledore acts just like any other character (like gay people actually do, living a normal life and acting like a normal person) and it fits the plot perfectly, as it seems perfectly possible that Dumbledore and Grindelwad grew feelings for each other during the time they spent together. This is how LGTB characters should be included in movies.

@@RigoOXx While I certainly agree with what you said, the thing that made me roll my eyes a bit was that Rowling announced it and made it seem like a big deal saying she didn't think people would accept it. Truthfully, I don't actually think Rowling intended for Dumbledore to be gay until the day she decided to add more representation to Harry Potter because of the political climate. I think one day after many books and films she just decided to make Dumbledore gay, I don't think it was her intention right from the start. I might be completely off the mark with that assumption, but it is my take.
@@RoaringMind Not entirely true...we see the faculty relationship between Remus Lupin and Tonks. However I agree that the timing was not right to explore that side of Dumbledore, since he was more of a supporting character than the main even in the first series. Fantastic Beasts may offer an opportunity to explore it more, and I think they should...but in a respectful way. A person's bedroom preferences are of little interest to me, however the people who are of importance to the primary characters are extremely interesting. I don't mind shared glances, hands held or even intimate (not sexual...that is something separate) conversations between others, but I don't need an exhaustive list of what they like in bed. [That goes for EVERY sexuality, hetero included]
The thing that aggravates me most is that they didn't put in the scene where Draco throws Harry his wand during the battle of Hogwarts.
That should have been there, I so agree with you, Draco redemption arc was much more needed than the whole family's great escape. Narcissa, redeemed, Draco redeemed, lucius, was is and always will be an asshole.
Honestly, I think that rowling made the right decision to have ron and hermione get together. It seems like in every book and every movie the main character and the female best friend always end in a romantic relationship. When Harry and Hermione stayed friends I was so happy to see some variation from other books.

harry third-wheeling in his own franchise is a character nuance that would have been lost if he ended up with hermione. oddly, it kind of completes his "ordinariness" if you will.
It’s ironic because the French pronounce Voldemort the right way (without the T at the end) and the English don’t but the french pronounce Hermione like Her-mee-own (the wrong way). I guess no one can get everything right 😂
If I remember correctly, Hermione is a Greek name, and the French pronunciation is probably closer to the correct than the English one
Idk if it’s Greek but Helen of Troy’s daughter was called Hermione, so the Greek definitely used it.
Laughs in Polish "Hermiona" and the fact that Polish words can literally have (99% of the time) only one correct pronunciation so none of the "no one knew how to pronounce it until book 4" thing happened to us.
It's still pretty cool to understand the etymology of Voldemort, it sounds more scary when you know what it means (no matter how you pronounce it).
I'm just not sure if this supposedly "Flight of Death" should not be read as "Theft of Death" ('vol' meaning either 'flight' or 'death' in French)

And then he spends the next few months deliberately making out with Lavender in public spaces Hermione uses despite having literally zero feelings for Lavender. He did it just to hurt Hermione.

That was actually good, best friend got the girl in this story, even though the main one got his sister like a lot of stories. Even though it makes it kinda sad that after everything Harry became third wheel too, and it's not like Ron and Hermione didn't deserve it, they did, it was nice.

The presenter gave zero evidence that Rowling preferred Harry end up with Hermione. She only quoted her saying some regret over pairing Hermione and Ron. I've seen that interview. It's an exceptionally large leap to try and infer that Rowling regretted not putting Harry and Hermione together. She never once said that. Rowling has made it clear in her interviews that Ginny was the right one for Harry. She was the only one that could handle him and was much more suited for him. It should also be noted that the books give you a much better view of Ginny than the movies. She was cut out a bunch in the movies and then you have the problem with people just wanting to put two people together in the end simply because they were both leading characters in a movie and nice looking. Forget that in the books, Hermione was bucked-toothed and frizzy-haired. Ginny, in the books, was supposed to be considerably better looking than Hermione. Movie makers have their own ideas though and rarely stay true enough to the minor points of the books. In the end, they do a disservice and just cause confusion to many.

There was another interview she did, but I can't remember who with, where she was asked if Dumbledore was a good guy. She said he was good through and through yet so many fanfiction writers want to present Dumbledore as a bad guy then admit in their author notes or in their bio that they actually believe that as well. Pathetic.
People who are much better at interpreting what has been written do not believe Dumbledore is a bad guy, nor do they believe Ginny was a one-dimensional fan-girl. See the Graham Norton show when he had Jude Law on promoting the movie where he played a younger Dumbledore. This is a very accomplished actor who has been trained and knows how to interpret correctly a character in a book or script. He mentioned his worry over playing such a beloved character. His words, not mine.
I've also been trained in acting and directing. I hold a Master of Fine Arts degree in that from the 80's. People who interpret Dumbledore and Ginny as bad characters are conveniently forgetting a lot of information provided by Rowling in the books. I also suspect some are interpreting canon after being influenced by many fanfiction writers presenting the characters differently from Rowling. Of course, we now live in a world of misinformation so I shouldn't expect more from people.

@@hoaxtays People are three-dimensional beings. When you write characters in a story they should also be three-dimensional. We all have good and bad with different personality traits, etc. We are much more complicated and can't be boiled down to one trait or behavior. A one-dimensional character is a poorly written character by a not so good writer. You see this a lot in fan fiction. When people look at Ginny as only being a fan-girl then they are making her one-dimensional. She is not one-dimensional in the books as Rowling made sure of that. The movies showed less of Ginny than the books, but it's the books that are canon, not the movies. I doubt some of them ever read the books.
I think Ron with hermionie was perfect. It's traditional that the main female and main male characters end up together. I like that it wasn't that way. And I do feel ginny and Harry were quite cute too.

if it wasn’t for romione, ron would’ve stayed as a sidekick and we all know sidekicks don’t have ANY value whatsoever in movies.
again, harry and hermione looked at each other from a sibling way. if you’ve even watched the movie, you’d know hermione was never jealous of harry with other girls. its no secret harry likes pretty girls, take cho chang as an example. she encouraged him instead of being jealous. we knew she liked ron because she was jealous of lavender and ron’s relationship. if she didn’t like ron, and liked harry instead, it’d be like every other book/film.
this argument is soly based on the writers choice to make Hermione attractive to Harry or not (and vice versa). but the thing is that Harry/Hermnione personality complements each other better.. i think it became clear as the series went on and Ron would sometimes be mean to Hermione. also, daniel/emma's on screen chemistry was waaaaaay better
Lemme clear you one thing at start it was HARRYxHARMIONE ship but later in book4 Rowling changed it as JKR said " I wanted to kill Ron later i changed my plan and killed Fred & Lupin as i was so obsessed with Ron" so as per this statement Harry Harmione was a canon but when she saved Ron she make RONmione to prevent Ron as a sidekick And As per Cho Chang it was a same strategy in Rowlings mind ( like Krum and Harmione Lavender / Ron or Ginny Micheal she used for RONmione and Hinny respectively ) but she changed the plan so she opted Micheal and Krum for that jealousy card and i ve read books like 10 times and still find out That first 4 books meant for Harmione later it was RONmione remember 4 books Ron-Harmione were always fighting but in book 5 it was pleasant for them as Rowlings shifted the scenes Remember Neville being an obese and not much Handsome boy who found Ginny on 3rd day (in blue yule) that indicates that Ginny wasn't that much of a beauty but in Book5 she was hot and Beautiful suddenly so these kinda make me feel that JKR shifted the cards later in last 3 books

Aside from how much more it might cost for production, I fully agree. Too many directors/producers cut scenes and plot items from movies that are forgotten, in which case the fandom is later left scratching their heads trying to figure out why certain events happen and the reasoning why they do. I would much rather refill my popcorn and sit through another hour than to walk out confused.
thats what peter jackson did with the lord of the rings, 4 hours each film, but he also had some things out because the book was too big

Honestly, they could have just turned it all into a serie with episodes. I think that would have been much easier and we could have seen loads that was only mention in the books.
I don’t think the sexuality of Dumbledore is needed in any of the stories, I do think the backstory of the house elves should have been touched with more on Dobby, and for sure Harry should have been with Hermione!!! He was awkward with Ginny and Hermione was too smart for Ron.

I like Ron and Hermione together, and Harry and Ginny, although they should have given Ginny's character in the movies more screen time in the 5th and 6th movies. This way they all end up in the Weasley's immediate family, which Harry needs more than anyone.

I think she actually spoke out against that pairing as it would have framed toxic/ abusive relationships as a positive which she absolutely does not want to promote.
I disagree with how Rowling want's Voldemort's name pronounced. It was a self given title by a British wizard, who made his British friends use it, and he was extremely proud of his British heritage in its inclusion of Salazar Slytherin. So much as it's her story, I fail to believe that Tom wanted a French pronunciation, or would have got one from his class mates.
I think the books and movies ended well with Hermione being with Ron and Harry with Ginny. I did believe Harry and Hermione would be together and wanted to see it. However the other direction works better because it keeps all their friendships and removes an awkwardness from Ron, Harry, and Hermione.
I like hermione with Harry, and I’m sorry but if you look at the way Emma looks at Daniel vs Ron it’s different…. The chemistry is there and JK knows it too 😭

For me I feel like Ron and hermione in the books was a great move. It would have been typical if she had paired Harry and hermione together. Also in the books, the development over the years was steady but overtime it made sense for them to work. I am so glad that Ron & Hermione were paired up. If that hadn't happened, there'd have been no reason for Ron's character at all in the books or movies. He would have been further reduced to just a shallow, comedic sidekick. And this I believe, would have reduced the novels to the level of Zane Grey or Louis L' Amour, and the movies to the levels of a B western. Harry & Hermione? Too predictable in my opinion Besides, I think Harry had more in common with Ginny. Both were star quiddich players. Hermione couldn't have cared less about quiddich.

Hermione loved both Harry and Ron. But Harry was like a brother to her and Ron was a lovable goofball. You can really see this at the end on the second movie when she give harry a massive hug but and then shakes Ron's hand.

Harry and Ginny make sense in the long run (if you read the books). They have more in common than Harry and Hermione. Ron and Hermione make sense at the end of the books. But I really don't see how it worked in the long run. What made them connect in the first place was being Harry's friend through everything that happened with Voldemort. They shared Harry's issues, his bad temper, etc. They were there for each other to get through it. But once it was over? I honestly can't see what made them stay together years and years after that since it revolved arround Harry. Especially since after the books, Hermione went back to school to get her N.E.W.T. and Harry and Ron went into Auror training directly

I liked that Ron and Hermione get together. It was so lovely to see characters of opposite genders be good friends. My daughter especially liked seeing a boy and girl simply being good friends without romance ever once coming up. It’s a mature decision and makes much more sense with the characters in the books. Ginny from the movie seems a more wooden companion for Harry. But the Ginny of the books fits very well.

Umm.... no, I respect your opinions, and I was kinda surprised when Romione happened, but I ship them. Harry was not meant to be with Hermione. The need to have more in common than being muggle raised. Like, Harry needs someone understanding. No one understands you better than yourself, in my opinion, and Ginny was more like him. She was athletic, funny, and the Gryffindor hearthrob. Hermione was just his friend who wanted to keep him out of trouble as much as she could, while Ginny knew when to stop him and when to let him. And Ron needed someone to keep him out of trouble while Hermione needed someone who could actually let her experience what it was like to be reckless. They fit.

Ron It’s a knuckle dragging jock….Where as Hermione is a know it all perfectionist, opposites may attract….But those two would grind on each other’s nerves very quickly. Harry’s relationship with Ginny is based on a schoolgirl crush…She literally knew nothing about him and continued to know very little about him into their teen years. Harry eventually opens up and Ginny is still attracted to the actual Harry, but Ron continues to be Ron and Hermione doesn’t get any less bossy.

I grew up just watching the Harry Potter movies and thought Dobby was the most annoying little shit ever.
Years later after reading through the series, getting up to the Deathly Hallows and knowing exactly what was going to happen next, it became so emotional for me during Dobby's death that I needed a moment LOL 😭 Dobby has always been there throughout the series and so loyal to Harry; I wish the movies had given Dobby a bit more spotlight to build up that attachment.

In Germany we said Voldemor before the movies came out. They actually changed Hermione's name to Hermine (her-mee-nuh) in the German books.
1) Hermione and Ron may have been a relationship that existed only because of Harry being the "glue". I can't picture any scene in the books where Ron and Hermione are alone together and share some deep, personal connection. "They are always bickering, they must be in love" is such a stereotype. In fact, only in the first book does Ron show any real value - with the chess game at the end. After that, his value is being Harry's friend and bringing Harry into the Weasley family.
2) In the books, Ginny came across at first as a shy, quiet girl (except when she stood up to Malfoy in Book 2). But then her feisty side came out and Harry liked that. She became her own person, not just his fangirl.
3) Some big names had to die in the Battle Of Hogwarts. You can't have such a fight without suffering losses on the good side. Otherwise it becomes like a TV show (thinking of "Combat", a 1960s WWII show where every week a character got shot in the arm or the leg but was back in action the next episode).
4) Just how did the trio graduate? Surely Hermione must have graduated. Or maybe they proved themselves so well in surviving year 7 they were given diplomas.
Harry and Hermione work better. Throughout the movies they have a better chemistry than Ron and Hermione. Even J.K Rowling agrees with this. They should have ended as a couple.

Personally I'm glad it ended the way it did. Ron and Hermione had that love hate relationship and it gave them chemistry. Hermione didn't really have a female best friend so she had Harry so they never would have worked to begin with. J.K can say how she regrets this all she wants but it's not going to change the ending. Rowling has never said Harry and Hermione should have ended up together. Did anyone actually read the interview where she supposedly said that? Because I did and the most she says is that in some ways they were a better fit. She also ended the interview reiterating again why she thinks Ron and Hermione should be together. No where does she say she regrets the pairing or that Harry and Hermione should have ended up together. That was just a bunch of click bait headlines based on out of context passages from the interview a week before it’s release.

when i saw the film, i always thought harry and hermione were the one but in the books, it was evident ginny was the buildup right from book 1! but the film failed to replicate it and gave no importance for ginny in films

No Harry and Hermione can't be together as Harry hates certain things about her that come in a way of a healthy relationship. Like in fourth book, Harry is annoyed as she doesn't joke. Also Hermione doesn't understand Harry. In fifth book, she is scared of his anger and she thinks Harry wants to be the hero every time. I agree with Ron and Hermione fighting too much but I don't think Harry and Hermione should be together either. Even Harry said in Book 7 that he loved her like a sister. I like Harry and Ginny. Also Hermione doesn't need Harry, she needs someone who can make her laugh and argue with him all day like Ron. But Harry needs Ginny . She understands him most throughout the series. In second book, she stood up for him against Malfoy. She brought him to his senses in OOTP when he thought he was possessed by Voldemort. She comforted him during Sirius's and Dumbledores death. Most importantly when Harry broke up with her any girl in Ginny's place would have been angry. But she wasn't. There is a clear line in the books, ' Harry looked at Ginny and they knew they understood each other' . Also Ginny is a good Quidditch player and Harry likes good players (First Cho then Ginny). Also if Hermione would get together with Harry, she would be someone who is favoured too much. Like she is smart, brave and a powerful witch. And to top all of that, u want her to end up with the Chosen One. No man, I am keeping Harry with Ginny as Hermione hasn't gone through what Harry has gone. So she can hardly understand him. Also she can't control Harry's temper like Ginny can. She would be scared of him and they would be divorced . But Ginny well, she has gone through a lot like Harry. She was possessed by Voldemort in Chamber of Secrets, she had to go through the death of Fred etc. While Hermione never had the death of a family member
Also, Hermione doesn't care about Harry. In sixth book, when Harry said he got Half-Blood Prince's potion book, Hermione didn't care if he was in danger. She was jealous that Harry was better than her in Potions. But Ginny well she was concerned about his safety. And when Harry used Sectumsempra, Hermione was angry at him for doing so but Ginny fought against Hermione (who was her best friend too) for Harry. This shows that she loved him
And to conclude, my opinion is based on the books not on the movies.

Harry and Hermione should have ended up together. Hermione is so much like Lily. A Muggle girl (both of them were called Mudbloods by Slytherins (; (; ). Intelligent. Favourite student of Slughorn. They could also perform weird things that they didn't knew how they made them happen. Harry and Hermione also have many things similar between them. They were bought up in a Muggle world. They didn't knew that they were Wizard and witches (but still sometimes performed magic). They were great at spells. Always sticked beside each other from the beginning. She didn't leave Harry during TDH when Ron asked her to come along with him. She was also beside Harry during the Goblet of fire, when no one was listening to Harry, when Ron left Harry broken. There was also a line in that book stating that " Harry liked Hermione very much..". Those who have read the books will know.

Personally I think Luna could've a better match for Harry. She's weird, but endearingly so. She's quirky and her quirkiness sets her apart somewhat from her peers, much like Harry's circumstances set him apart. Even in the books, Harry's turn towards Ginny felt abrupt.

Before watching movies I thought Harry and Hermione were a couple (I haven't read the books). To me, it felt natural and I think Ginny/Harry plot in the movie seemed as out of thin air.
