  • Harry Potter is an epic franchise, but it could’ve been even more epic! Did you have any idea how many deleted scenes the Harry Potter series had? Some of them weren’t important, but many others provided tons of new meanings about the characters and the events. So if they weren’t cut, the Harry Potter movies could’ve been VERY different!
    Are you ready to see the best Harry Potter deleted scenes? Then tune into our new video about Harry Potter moments that ended up on the cutting room floor!
    For example, there was a Harry Potter scene in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, where Harry was thinking about the Mirror of Erised. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Ron Weasley presented Harry with an interesting device. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire showed us the students’ choir conducted by Professor Dumbledore. In Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry was sad about Sirius. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince created a perfect foreshadowing of the dark events to come by showing Severus Snape in deep thought with eerie music in the background. And Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows had quite a few deleted scenes. The one with Hermione Granger was cute and lighthearted, while the other one with Draco Malfoy could’ve entirely changed how we see his character.
    Excited to see it all? Then click play!

    This scene with Petunia! It just makes so much sense! The goodbye from Dudley is also a moment many people speak about when talking about the books. It feels unfair to have left this scene out. Maybe cause you didn't know that it was Snape who overheard the Prophecy and told Voldemort which in turn caused the slaughter of the Potter family. If Snape didn't tell Voldemort, Harry would have his parents growing up.... Of course, his parents can still die going against Voldemort alongside the other Order of Phoenix members.... But Snape was doing all this to redeem himself, the guilt of causing Lily's death...(he didn't care much about James's death obviously)....

      As to Harry surviving, there are many possible factors that actually make more sense than just lore: first, the elder wand's allegiance was already to Harry, so Voldemort's killing curse with the wand could not have worked. Second, Voldemort's killing curse eliminated the horcrux in Harry. Final, there's talk by JKR of things like Lily's love protection still in effect, as well as Harry's blood running in Voldemort's veins after Wormtail's ritual, etc.

He was actually a good guy spying on the bad while he deeply cared for Harry, partly because of Lilly being his mother and partly because he actually cared for him. I'm afraid you have misread Snape if you think he cared for Harry even a little bit. Everything was in honour of Lily. If you have only seen the movies then you should know they cut 2 very important words from his memory scene with Dumbledore in his office. Dumbledore asks Snape "But this is touching, Severus. Don't tell me after all this time you've come to care for the boy?" Snape replies with the cut line : "For HIM!" and then produces the doe patronus to show Dumbledore that he is really "Always" doing it for Lily. Snape isn't mad at Dumbledore for "raising him(Harry) like a pig for slaughter" because he cares. He thought he was protecting Harry to keep Lily alive and even reverts to calling him The Boy rather than Harry or even Potter when he asks "So, the boy must die?" He instantly cuts his ties with him as he is nothing to Severus if he is not preserving Lily.
      Harry naming his 2nd son Albus Severus is a nice touch tho. Neither of them have any family left who can pass the name on and it shows that Harry forgave both of them for what they did. This goes with the theme of the final chapter as Harry has learned how to go on actually living after such a terrible war that took so many loved ones from him without holding onto large amounts of bitterness or ill will.

To me, she's trying to minimize her treatment of Harry, as if her loss made it OK she allowed him to live in a cupboard for 10 years, made him work like a slave, and all around treated him horribly. I think this was Petunia coming to terms with everything, and her role in everything too. You have to remember in the books Petunia wrote Dumbledore several times. When she was a kid, and when Harry was a baby, and a few times when Harry was in school. Also, the end of the previous school year Dumbledore showed up and gave the Dursley's a verbal smack down in front of Dudley. He pointed out how they were also abusive to Dudley too. Dudley also had a change of heart towards Harry too in large part because of that little sit down. Also, she, having to lose everything and become guests of wizards for their own protection, realized just how much Harry was dealing with too. I think this scene was more of a character shift than people realize at first glance.

    Drako Malfoy's scene is great, but it makes a plot hole rather than redemption. Harry had his wand (malfoy's) already when he entered the forest for the last time, he just hid it under his robes to willingly go to die without being tempted. After that, he choses a moment to reveal himself being alive, to use the wand to try to save Neville. Malfoy is redeemed by his mother, lying to Voldemort, saying that Harry is dead just because she loved her son so much. It brilliantly ties into the story, the mother being the one to make a choice not for anyone else, even the Dark Lord, but for her son, wich, of course, led to Harry's victory. And Harry using the wand he took from Drako in Malfoy's manor, made all the difference, because Voldemort's wand, The Elder wand, recognised it's previous masters (Dumbledore's) defeater in his opponent, because it was Draco who disarmed Dumbledore. Snape killed already defenseless Dumbledore, Making Draco the real owner of the wand. And, because Harry used Draco's wand (struggled out of him), the Elder wand recognised it's defeater and gave up on him. As heartworming as it is to everyone hoping for Draco's redemption an to all the countless fans of Tom Felton, the wand -throwing scene is well off laying on the cutting room's floor, because it just doesn't make sence...

    • @lindamazule2289
      @lindamazule2289 Рік тому +1

      @@7evensins991 Sorry, but If Draco wasn't unconcious in the Malfoy's manor when Harry struggled the wand out of Drako's hands, I doubt Drako thought Harry was wandless. They all knew about the break in and out of Gringot's (Sheamus's line - the all school knows!) and I don't think anyone thought Harry made it without a wand. They even have a small chat about wands in the room of requirement before the walk into the forest and the last fight - that Harry has Drako's wand, and, although Narcissa lent Drako her wand, it is not the same.... So that move from Drako seems unnecessary in any way - If Harry has Drako's wand and is quite sucsesfull with it (as we see in the room of requirement), why would Drako assume that Harry is accidentally wandless in the grat reveal? And what good would Drako's mother's wand do for Harry? We already know that a randomly obtained wand will not work even half as good as your own or rightfully earned wand (I suggest you reread the first part of Deathly hollows). And Yes, I know that we all love Tom Felton and his play as Drako, but actually the movie made Malfoy's redemption arc even lousier - like Narcissa just grabbed her son and run away without looking back, and Lucious sneekily follows... In the books, at the end Drako and his parents sat in the great hall together with the others, and felt like outsiders. And in the end it was Draco's mother's sacrifice that redeemed them in the end in the face of a jury, judging previous death-eaters, and Harry's testimony about Nacissa's lies to Voldemort and the reaction in made, let Malfoy's loose. And, as we all know, Drako later married Astoria Greengrass (Whom he lost later due to a blood curse (Maledictus))and they had a boy, Scorpio, who was in the same year as Harry's youngest son. Harry and Drako had collegial attentions to each other, but there was no hate or rivalry as in their teenage years, just pure respect.

      @@lindamazule2289 I just wonder, you wrote all that text without even giving a little thought to the fact that Draco sees Hagrid carrying DEAD!!!!! Harry... There was no way he knew Harry's alive. There's no way he would have a time to think about the wand situation or conduct a memory detective research about the events in Manor...
      The next part you're talking about Narcissa, who could easily reveal Harry's alive and kicking and this story would've ended much more tragically. So next time before you writing as Tolstoy, try to actually think about what are you writing. Thank you for your time.

    • @lindamazule2289
      @lindamazule2289 Рік тому +4

      @@7evensins991 Have you ever read the books? Look at Malfoy's character! Even after Harry saves him from the room of requirement, he tries to assure a deatheater later in the fight that he is on their side! I don't think that he would risk his place (son of a deatheater) or life (if Voldemort wins, wich was actually still a real possibility at that moment, because noone knew about the conversation Harry and Dumbledore had in the "Kings Cross station") to help Harry, who mystically wakes up from his dead self? As much as we all would love to see a redemption for Draco to come sooner, in the books it is only after the battle of Hogwarts and all that happens later, that makes Drako to redeem himself. In the battle of Hogwarts he was still his selfish, cowardly self with almost no intent to help harry, especially in such a visible, self-revealing way as to throw his wand at him in front of a very large audience. So the fact that Draco sees presumably dead Potter in hands of Hagrid, doesn't really matter. When Harry reveals himself to be alive, Draco still would not throw his wand to him, because Voldemort is still alive and presumably much more powerfull than 17 year old Harry. Voldemort could easily kill Draco on the spot for betrayal, or later, after his possible victory, punish him in a most cruel way for helping the enemy. So - no, Draco's deleted scene in the movie doesn't make sence from any wiewpoint. It does not mach his character and deletes the grand reveal in the end - that Harry has Draco's wand and as such is the master of Death. Draco was not a bad person, but he was not so selfless either, to risk his life for a possibly lost battle... About me mentioning Narcissa - I just tried to show, that Dracos redemption came later, after the battle of Hogwarts. Harry knew, of course, that Narcissa's lies helped him to win, because, if she had told the truth, Harry could be killed for real right there on the spot. Her lies helped Harry to win, so after the battle of Hogwarts, when all the deatheaters and their helpers were brought to court, Harry acknowledged Narcissas help and let the Malfoy family go without punishment. That led to Draco's redemption and their collegial relationship later.

    Harry had just sat down to breakfast, Ginny was fixing Lily a bowl of cereal, when Hedwig 2 landed next to Harry with unique envelope in her beak. This one had a regular muggle stamp on it, and a scrawl that reminded Harry of a teenager learning to write on the lines.
    'Does this writing look familiar to you love?' Harry asked Ginny, who shook her head, looking surprised as Harry. There was no name on the back, just an address in Kent. Curious. Opening it, Harry read aloud:
    "Harry, if this letter finds you, I'm glad. This might come as a shock, but I need your help, and... well, you're the only one I could think of. If you can, let's meet at Charing Cross Road on the 27th of August at 12pm. If you have a family, you can bring them too. Thanks, Big D"
    Harry dropped the letter and his jaw fell open. How... how could this be? Big D... the writing, there was only one possibility. Dudley. But why? Why randomly now? And then it hit Harry like a Stupefy to the chest.
    "Hey honey, what are you doing on the 27th August?"
    The sun bore down on them, glaring off the glass from the surrounding buildings. It was a beautiful day, yet there was an air of nervous anticipation and an unexpectedness that was palpable. Harry was about to see Dudley for the first time in twenty years. All the memories come flooding back. Would Dudley remember anything of them, after his memory was wiped way back when? Harry turned and saw a man who was so unmistakably Dudley, with this blonde hair, now tighter and sleek, like Draco, his large muscly arms tattooed, his hand holding a small boy's hand and in the other, a beautiful, tall woman's hand with a kind face. Clearing his throat, Harry exhaled and held onto Ginny and Lily's hand tighter.
    "Big D" said Harry, extending his hand out for Dudley, who surprisingly ignored it and embraced him. Though brief, the hug showed Harry that Dudley was not the same as last time.
    "This is Cara, my wife, and Jay, my son. Jay... well... Jay's like you"

      Other than that I like this a lot more than the official "Christmas cards and a couple of awkward visits". My headcanon was always that the Dursleys were moved around safe houses during the final book and that Dudley met a nice Hufflepuff girl during the Christmas break at one of these houses and started a budding romance. I always liked the idea that Vernon and Petunia worked out pretty quickly that they shouldn't tell the whole truth about Harry's early years before Hogwarts and that they were soon telling the wizards that they were now surrounded by that they bravely took young Harry in knowing it put them in danger but it was the right thing to do and that they had helped to raise this young hero. I can just imagine Vernon almost choking on the words the first few times. Not helpful to your story since Cara needs to be a muggle too for Dudley to need Harry's help. Vernon and Petunia's reaction to a magical grandson could be fun to write as Vernon would probably hate it but be unable to say it. Petunia could go either way but I imagine since her Duddykins could do no wrong then Jay would also not be able to do any wrong and she would embrace it like she never had any problem with magic to begin with and wont hear another word about that. Cue interesting interplay between P and V about this.

    I think another 3 you should have mentioned are critical - and they’re all in Goblet of Fire
    1. The scene at the Yule Ball where Harry wanders off and finds Snape & Karkarov in conversation about the Death Eaters. Snape catches a couple making out in a carriage and reduces points before he talks with Karkarov.
    2. The scene where Snape is in his storage and Karkarov shows him the Dark Mark. He then leaves before Snape says “Not so fast Mr.Potter” and Snape accuses him of stealing from his stores for Polyjuice potion
    3. Don’t forget they cut the “mini concert” at the Yule Ball

      1.) Draco lost his own wand to Potter during the escape from Malfoy Manor. Potter carried it through the rest of the second wizarding war.
      2.) Draco then lost his mother's wand to Potter in the Room of Requirements where it was ultimately destroyed when Vincent Crabbe unleashed Fiendfyre in the room.
      3.) The wand the beat Voldemort was the Elder Wand, Draco disarmed Dumbledore and in doing so became the Elder Wand's new master, then Potter disarmed Draco and the Elder Wand switched allegiances to Potter. When Voldemort tried to use it to kill Potter, the Elder Wand refused to attack it's rightful master and so it backfired on him sending Voldemort's own spell back at him.

    The movies never properly showed how much Dudley changed after the Dementors attacked them in Order of the Phoenix (the actually don’t show him at all until Deathly Hollows in the movies). He not only looked at everything differently in the books but he quickly recognized that Harry saved his life. It’s also worth noting that a dementor attack effects muggles differently than witches and wizards and it is usually far worse for muggles when recovering if they ever do. In the books he actually never fully recovers from the attack and suffers from serious PTSD and has trouble feeling any emotion other than fear and depression. Harry even recalls in his thoughts how much damage they did to him mentally. IMO Dudley was very misunderstood, when a child sees his parents acting a certain way towards someone it would be hard for them, or at least take time and maturing, to form their own true opinions and emotions.

    The Dursleys. Throughout the movies, it's implied/shown Petunia was jealous of Lilly, but that one scene would also have shown more too. She was jealous of Lilly's gifts but her death I think also inspired a deep fear of it as well. And here dropped on her doorstep was the child of her "perfect" sister undoubtedly possessed of the same abilities that her own parents found so "wonderful" abilities that she now knew could also kill. Love, fear, anger, and jealousy all presented to her in one little package. It paints her treatment of Harry in a bit of a different light when you look at it through that lens. Still deplorable, but a little more human. I absolutely agree with the Dursley’s deleted scenes needing to be in the movie. I was so disappointed with the theatrical cut. After Harry saved Dudley his feelings towards Harry changed dramatically in the book. We just didn’t get to see it happen until the Dursleys had to leave since Harry didn’t stay with them for very long after that. As much as the series departed from the books that scene should have been left in since it would have been very close to the emotion of the book, and gave Dudley his redemption. I even thought both the book and the movies should have had Harry and Dudley having reunited in the epilogue with *gasp* Dudley having a child that was Wizard or Witch who was only a few weeks younger than one of Harry’s kids and they’re all a close family. The scene with Severus would have been great, and the scene with Tonks and Lupin had me getting choked up just watching this. The scene with Malfoy absolutely doesn’t need to be in the film. The whole duel between Voldemort and Harry was compared to the book was ruined enough as it is. Harry bested Malfoy and took his wand while he and the others were held prisoner in the Malfoy home. That was why he was able to beat Voldemort since Malfoy was the one that won the wand from Dumbledore. As convoluted as the books ending may have been the movie was worse, and the deleted scene with Draco wouldn’t have added anything to have made it less so.

Add to that, almost every scene you've shown us actually deepens the characters' personalities, the "decision-makers" chose wrong by removing them.

      No he had a choise. Sirius Black, Adromeda Tonks and Regulus Black were also raised in family’s like Draco but Sirius wanted to be a Gryffindor (or any other house) to break the family tradition because he did not like or agree with his family that they were better than others, Adromeda also did not agree with her familys hatred of muggles and muggleborns because she married one even if it meant she was disowned, and Regulus did want to and became a DE but when Voldemort tortured Kreacher he sacrifised hinself to help stop Voldemort. They all had a choise but Draco chose wrong and only cared about his family during the end of the war and did not need or desreve a redemption scene that was also not in the books cause he did not get one, maybe he got one during 19 years later but he will always be a bullying, cowardly ferret.

      He wanted to be a Death Eater, he looked up to his father, his parents spoiled him. In the eyes of the Malfoy family it only went wrong when Lucius failed to get the prophecy then Draco was told to kill Dumbledore...but when he's in front of Dumbledore he makes the choice to lower his wand and not kill him.
