I could sit and listen to Jony Ive talk about design for ages. I find it to be fascinating. His processes, his inspirations etc. These 3D objects that are built with beauty, quality, thought and care. Even the packaging, which is the first port of call when you buy an Apple product. A tiny pocket of air, allows you to hold the top and let the bottom fall out.

Thank you so much for uploading this. You are a legend. I didnt see the other person writing ‘legend’, but that came to my mind too. Thank you so much. This is so valuable.
I enjoyed Rose more on this interview than any others. So often he just interrupts and is obnoxious. Can’t stand interviews by him. But this one was really pleasant and I enjoyed getting to hear Johny talk.
44:23 Watch how Charlie says “design genius” , Jony stops takes his hand and almost throws that statement away. Then repeats and carries on, who else talks and does that these days? This man is incredibly intentional with everything he does.
simple, look at an Apple power cable, how its packaged, how it has no bends and is supple and flexible and even the insulation is tactile soft satiny rubber.... just the power cable
Jony ive is so right. It's why I loved my S10 plus over my s21 plus and s23 ultra. The design of the s10 plus with its screen and back, it was so nice and I loved it. I did own iphone 6 and that was a magical moment. With current iphones it feels forced and they just do the same design over and over even when their is a design flaw. We need the cameras centre on iphone 17 because it would stop the annoying rocking on a table and also look like
I remember an episode of the Odd Couple TV show when something fell off the wall and the Super painted the spot a different color to fill it in. Tony Randall's character Felix said, but it doesn't match. The Super said, no one will know. Felix reply was, I will know. The Super replied, don't tell anyone. Some of us are excessive compulsive about detail and perfection. I learned that, i think it was Persian rug makers deliberately place a knot in the rug to remind us that nothing is perfect.
Such a deep thinker and one of the world's greatest product designers. I saw him on stage at an Apple event once and he was terrible! Totally wrong guy for that particular job with the thoughtful pauses, deep meaning, etc. I don't think Apple ever did it again!
Charley Rose once asked Actor Edward Norton what is it about acting. Norton replied, it's like a hunt for something that you don't know what you are hunting for.
7:13 Sad to see how impolite and mishandling reporter to the jony. It’s the reason why creatives have less friends because ppl can’t take stress to understand the complexity of the problem on hand
Exactly. While Jony took 5 minutes of deliberate explanation to point how it doesn't matter what something looks like, the interviewer stopped and took it out of his hand and said "But it has round edges. What does that speak to you?" And Jony had to repeat himself for 12 more minutes. The man is just not that intelligent.
@@jaiskrenoYeah you nailed it. Charlie Rose tries his best but comes in with so many preconceived notions that poor Jony has to keep stepping back & repeat & repeat & repeat to reframe the issue. In this interview Rose came across as a pretty poor listener.
He is certainly interesting, but I think he is laying it on a bit thick, especially in the context of designing a mass market product, which by definition means designing for the lowest common denominator
My God was Charlie Rose a horrible interviewer. All he does is make statements. No questions. Just demonstrating his own (lack of) insights. Every time.
@@joeysanchez6777 Ive had his moment. His design in the 00s changed the world (massively inspired by rams). Post 2010, his work at apple was misguided. Since he left, apples industrial design has improved massively. The few projects he has worked on since have been egotistical design wank at best… a super yacht? a ring made from a single piece diamond? It’s egotistical nonsense. Mohammad Hossein thank you for uploading this. Legend.
After Steve Jobs passed He was the Apple real genius.
Steve Jobs was Apple’s Mind
Jony Ive was Apple’s Heart
Tim Cook is Apple’s Limbs

Thanks for uploading. Great insight about design, the process and about this man.
Thanks for uploading, Mohammad!
How curious and exited jony Ive is while explaining the things.... genuine interest and care about the products they made...

Sir Jony Ive: thank you for what you have created. The iPhone is 6S, try the current one of 16. Thank you to you and all Apple.
Bring this man back to Apple! Legend

I admire and respect Ive very much. This reporter is bad, he doesn’t let him fully answer the questions and he already asking another question.

Rose and Ive are an amazing combination. Love to see Ive get his respect
3:26 guys how is the Home Screen auto rotated! that is such a cool feature we are missing these days!
That’s how it was before iPhone X. The feature was removed due to the notch.

One of the few Apple employees that doesn't sound heavily coached by Apple PR.

Charlie Rose has always sucked. You can see how he starts out expositioning to Ive instead of the other way around. The man was a narcissist.

Shame Apple isn’t this good anymore 😢
Everyone said the same thing about Apple in 1990s. So what??
He is certainly interesting, but I think he is laying it on a bit thick, especially in the context of designing a mass market product, which by definition means designing for the lowest common denominator

41:28 Jony did not know him. He was brought to n to do a job period
“Perhaps Ferrari” 😂 This guy has absolutely no clue about design.
is that the vistœ logo in your pfp?
Yet Ferari is the first client Johnny took on with his company Love From when he left Apple. So yes he knows what he is talking about.

MacBook Pro after Jony Ive is a disaster. Quality materiales are gone. No longer resistant, no longer beautiful, no longer magic!
